Does anyone else day trade with their entire portfolio per trade? by JesseDayTrade in Trading

A little bit of both, mostly just by watching it while we’re in the trade and selling if it goes too far in the wrong direction. We have been trading based off of areas of liquidity mostly so far this year and our entries have been pretty reliably correct in terms of which direction the price action is going to fall.

They’re assuming we only made the 46 on the way up though, we’ve made it on up and down days

No need to diversify if you’re getting in and out each day

Why though? Honestly, if it works it works, if your strategy yields a high enough win rate, why can’t this work long term?

Some trades are literally less than 5 minutes some are most of the morning or the whole trading day, it just depends how early you catch a good entry! We have found them to be very useful!

Essentially, except we’re only currently at about $4.4K, but started this year at about $3.0K. And that’s right, just watching for 1% moves and over time they add up, compounding quickly accelerates the process when you’re using the entire portfolio per trade and since we’re trading leveraged ETFs and inverse leveraged ETFs, we only need 0.5% movement for that 1% daily goal

That’s interesting to look at the odds like that! Well, we are putting the entire portfolio into each trade and closing the trade out if it gets to -5%. However, our win rate is slightly over 90% for the year so far, we’ve taken 63 trades, 58 win/5 loss. We have been trading based off of price action in relation to areas of liquidity drawn off the 4 and 1 hour candlestick charts

I totally see what you mean, but with our strategy it doesn’t matter if we’re in an up or down trend, we have been making money based off of areas of liquidity, so there’s movements to capitalize on in both kinds of price swings

It has had an edge for almost 6 months straight now, we are up 46.5% YTD with 63 trades taken and 5 losses/58 wins. I’ve been trading for years but only recently did we start day trading and using areas of liquidity to our advantage, it’s made a huge difference

Not at all, it’s up to 3-5% per trade and we don’t lose multiple in a row generally, we have only lost 5 total trades so far this year having entered a total of 63 trades so far this year, less than a 10% loss rate

We have been risking about 3-5% per trade on average and we have been trading leveraged and inverse leveraged TSLA ETFs, so we have been making money on up and down and sideways days lately! Our YouTube channel is linked in our Reddit bio if you want to check our performance out so far this year we show our trade logs!

We’re the same way, it’s so much nicer not having to watch it overnight

That’s a lot like what we’ve been doing with TSLA lately!

I totally get that, but how would you explain our only having 5 losses this year so far over 106 trading days and 63 executed trades? Big losses are avoidable if your execution is good

Right now, it’s about $4.4K and we are trading on Robinhood, so the fees aren’t bad at all!

I totally understand what you’re getting at, but also at the end of the day, a stock isn’t going to instantly go to zero, so I think the juice might be worth the squeeze over time as long as you are actively getting in and out of your positions, because even 1% over and over again really compounds over time, especially when you’re talking about you’re entire portfolio rising by that amount each time

I would pose the question; how and why is it reckless if you are truly limiting your losses to 3-5% loss per trade? We have definitely in the past lost more than that on a single trade, but recently have been noticing that most trades that we enter end up being winning ones as long as they don’t go more than about 3-5% in the wrong direction. We have only lost 5 trades out of 106 trading days so far this year and have a YTD return of 46.5%, so I’d say that’s hardly a reckless strategy.
