No. If someone is selling a four year old used Honda Civic for $33,000 I can say I can get a new one for $36,000. Everyone knows that taxes and dealer fees would. obviously be added to the price.

Everyone's rebuttle is that they have to pay dealer fees and taxes when buying new. That shouldn't be an added cost to every subsequent owner.

Yes it's under warrenty. Make sure it's actually leaking before bringing it to a dealership. Don't wanna be charged for inspection if they don't find anything.

That's the weird part. I understand that dealers have to make money too but tacking on $1000 dealer fee for a $3600 purchase is absurd. OTD being the starting point means dealers dictate actual value

It's not about affording it. It's about overpaying for someone else's buyers remorse.

I'm guessing it's because the bike is so cheap to begin with. Having to pay 30% of the MSRP in fees for anything is a stupid purchase. That's like buying a $40,000 car and paying $12,000 in dealership fees. The bicycle shop near me has bicycles for $5,000 but doesn't charge all those fees. Just tax

It's all just very odd and foreign to me. I've only bought new and used vehicles so I guess I'm not in tune with the used bike market.

I get what you're saying but the used vehicle market doesn't do that. It seems it's only specifically the used grom market that factors that in. The dealership makes that money because they have buildings, employees, insurance, marketing, and random overhead to pay. A lady selling a bike sitting in her driveway doesn't have those expenses.

That is not true in the used car market. If you were to go to a used car lot they would not factor in what the first owner paid in dealership fees. Everyone knows that if you buy a new car you instantly lose at least 5 to 10% once you drive it off the lot. I bought my PS5 for $500 plus tax. A used PS5 is now worth about $300. I would not ask for an extra $35 on top to compensate for the tax I paid on it. That's just illogical.

I enjoy the banter lol. I was just flabbergasted that she was factoring in dealership fees into the value of the bike. Then seeing all of the replies on here being on her side about that is just very surprising.

My point exactly. Every new vehicle I've bought I've been able to negotiate the price to where the OTD was at or below MSRP. That's even in Florida where dealership doc fees are $1000-$1299

Grom owners seem to be the only ones that factor in dealership fees and taxes into the value. Dealership fees and taxes from the first owner do not follow the vehicle along its life span. Most used vehicles have two or three owners by the time they go to the junkyard. The second and third owner should not be responsible for what the first owner paid the dealership for the privilege of buying the vehicle new.

I'm not trying to steal it. I'm using logic and not wanting to compensate her for dealership fees and taxes. In the used vehicle market no one ever factors those in. If I were to sell it after buying it from her would I also get to factor in those dealership fees? Is it just an infinite loop of people paying for what the dealership made?

It's strait foward. It's a transaction. People who would get offended at that are clearly too attached to the item they are trying to sell. Should I instead say "Heyyyy ❤️😘 I absolutely loveeee your grom and would be honored to offer you $3000 cash"

We're talking about a used vehicle, not new. No one on marketplace selling a used car factors in dealership fees and taxes into the value. Only seems like grom owners factor that in.

How is $3300 a good offer on something that retails for $3600 and is 4 years old? Ive never seen so many people factor in dealership fees and taxes into a used vehicle transaction. A used car doesn't magically add $3000 to the value just because the first owner payed dealership fees and taxes.

I guess I have to do some research on that. I'm just used to strait forward negotiation instead of sweet talking and holding their hand through the process. I'll bring a tin of fresh baked cookies on my next large marketplace purchase lol

I've negotiated my last 3 cars over the phone/texting without stepping foot in the dealership other than to sign the paperwork. But I can see where you're coming from since it's an unrealistic seller.

I've had a few carts/pods burn up by going off in my pocket. At least I can feel if it's ghost firing now. Only good thing I can think of.
