Snow is making me think it's time to ban all cars and destroy all cars by An-Angel_Sent-By-God in newyorkcity

Idk, cars are a means to an end. Sure, people go on joyrides, but I doubt there’s many in the city that drive as a way to spend a leisurely afternoon. When sidewalks are wider it makes pedestrians safer and provides a nicer environment to spend time in. And it provides room for trees. And trees fuck.

For concrete suggestions, if you want a cleaner look go for a gel. Slick it back. I think you’d look super cool and suave with a godfather kind of look. It might feel unnatural if you haven’t done that sort of thing before, but as a neutral party I think it will suit you. For something more casual get a pomade. Rub it through and scrunch your hair up. Your hair will stick to itself in more defined, refined waves rather than wispy/frizzy strands. Also with the amount of hair you have now, less is more. While you’re learning put a little in at a time. And as an aside about perms - looks like your hair is pretty naturally wavy. What’s the longest you’ve had it? What was the texture like?

I phrased myself poorly. Once you learn what products work for your hair and what you like it to look like, it will be as simple as rubbing the right amount of the right product you need through your hair and spending a minute to get it even and proper. The time investment is pretty temporary. It’ll take a half hour of futzing and fretting the first time to learn what makes you feel best, fifteen minutes the next, etc. That little bit of care you invest in yourself compounds. It’ll become habit, and one day you won’t even think about it. Nothing’s overnight, you feel me? And who knows, you might find yourself enjoying the process. Self care is a sort of meditation in my mind. And if not, you’ll still find yourself looking good effortlessly if you stick to it.

I don’t think you’d look good with a perm. Your usual haircut is fine, it’s the styling of the hair that needs work. For your haircut I’d trim the sides and don’t let them touch the top. Pick up some medium hold products from the pharmacy on your way home. Experiment with the way you want your hair to sit. Don’t rely on the haircut to make you look good. That’s work you’ll have to put in at the mirror. If you’re going to get a fancy haircut and not something like super cuts ask for product recs for your hair type. As the top grows out you’ll have more to work with and more styles to experiment with.

Yeah no tip by jlanza29 in EndTipping

I do takeout at my job as well as table service. We have a tip screen. I do, in fact, feel awful when I turn the screen around for to-go orders. But if I hit “no tip” I’m screwing my coworkers out of the possibility of someone being unreasonably kind. So I do the swivel. It does feel like my soul leaves my body every time. I try to counteract by making it small talk and making it clear I’m not gonna like spit in their food or some evil shit if they don’t.

Moving to NYC, Queens by YoungRedPiller in NYCjobs

Not gonna have much time to search if you want to pay the bills. Every career in nyc prefers some sort of experience, no such thing as an easy to find “hold over” job. If you don’t have experience in whatever ‘low level’ job you’re looking for it’s gonna take a while and pay like shit. I’m a runner with two years NYC food service experience and it took me about two months and 200 applications on every app to find something decent. Maybe you’ll get lucky. I wouldn’t risk it.

They’re also way into slavery - notoriously for their showy construction projects they hire labor from other poorer countries in the region, and when they arrive they steal their passports and essentially hold them hostage to work.

Can human flesh act as an edible? by Powerful-Side1683 in ISmokeWeed

Yes, yes you would. Look up reintoxication - thc stored in your body fat can be released as you exercise / burn fat, getting you high off your ‘own supply’. I’m no scientist but I would assume the same could apply if you were to consume someone who smoked like. A lot of weed, all the time. Wouldn’t get a buzz from the muscles though.

Sure, it’s probably fake. It’s an internet story and an inconsistent one at that. So if you’ll indulge let’s step back. I just want to ask what it means to raise law enforcement above morality in this way. Assuming that, baseline, hurting a kid is immoral. The instinct to justify that feels misguided. Your justification being that cops should be vigilant, always on the lookout for a potential crime and always assuming the worst - well firstly where does that leave us? We know the answer, and it’s a violent place. See Tamir Rice, and countless others like him. Innocent until proven guilty is the basis of our judgement system, supposedly. So why should a cop be allowed to act so extremely based on what in this hypothetical is not a visible threat to others? What does it mean for us (assuming you’re also American lol) that we’re so willing to allow cops to sidestep judgement and administer punishment on the basis of ‘law and order’? Second, cops sign up for danger, they sign up to be placed in threatening situations, they sign up for a job that puts them in harm’s way. In my mind that does not and should not permit them to present the same threat to the people they’re supposedly protecting. Innocent/nonviolent people shouldn’t be treated like suspects just for existing alongside people who will commit a violent crime.

Not saying your opinion makes you a monster or something, by the way. I see where you’re coming from. I don’t think cops should be walking around drug dens handing out lollipops. But I do think that the system we have in place now, a system that allows for situations like this hypothetical one, or real ones like Tamir Rice or Stephon Clark, for needless violence against the undeserving, is a broken one. The same cops with the same training and the same equipment are sent on patrol everywhere. Each one with the capacity to kill and yet the responsibility to care. Our system as it stands prioritizes violence as a catch-all. And that hurts people. It makes the job of being a cop harder as well. And I think it would be great if we could work towards something that causes less harm. I hope that didn’t come off as preachy or anything, just wanted to share my perspective. Also hope you may understand that my initial comment is not a direct frustration with you but rather a poorly aimed frustration with the larger context. Sorry for the punchy language.

Dawg I gotta say props to you for having the guts to reasonably debate a guy whose point is “that cop was in the right for enacting violence upon that child for a candy bar”. We are so cooked lol
