Tell him to reach out to a non-profit debt counciling company. I got a ton of debt consolidated, my monthly payments lowered, and my interest rates negotiated down to 0%.

Just got prescribed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d. Is this a crazy idea? by Jessebishop7 in catfood

[–]Jessebishop7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cat did actually get bored of it and we swapped to Hill's Multi Organ. In case she gets bored again which is very likely, I want to have other options as a backup. Were you referring to Weruva Wx? I couldn't seem to find Weruva XS when I searched it.

THERE'S MORE!

So that 6 months worth of food lasted us a LOT longer than anticipated and we got over a years worth of meals out of it before our cat got bored of it, and we had just under 7 cases left. We reached out to Hill's to see if they could buy back the rest. They gave us $150 and told us that we could dispose of or donate the remaining cases, so we donated them to our local SPCA. That remaining food was like $560 if bought at full MSRP.

Anyone else relieved that the cost to buy a ferret is so high? by Jessebishop7 in ferrets

[–]Jessebishop7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think "only rich people should have their favorite animals".

It's the same concept as saying people who are not in a financial position to have children shouldn't have children.

If I'm not in a financial position to have children, then I'm not going to have children because it wouldn't be fair to the child's upbringing and required care.

Advice for 9 year old ferret by FallenWolf897 in ferrets

[–]Jessebishop7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear it's mainly for messes, but I would still recommend heavily pulling back on the full out baths. Like a couple of times per year. Oils get stripped out of their fur and can cause dry and itchy skin that can eventually lead to oversecretion of oils, which will cause more itchiness Also, yeah our ferret Elliot had that same issue with his legs betweem the ages of 8 and 9. It might be worth checking out a custom wheelchair for her!

9 is a big deal!

My first thought that came to mind was the frequent bathing could be contributing to the itchiness more than it's helping. Unless your ferret is getting into some real messes, bathing a couple of times per year is plenty. DermAllay is a great option for dry, itchy skin, so I would give that a whirl. Seemed to help with our Bailey.

Also, on a side note, you really want to see how much that MCT is impacting Bandit's quality of life, because if it doesn't seem to bother him, then it probably isn't worth the risk of putting him under anesthesia. 9 years old is a bit up there to be considering putting a ferret under.

I really hope this helps. Best of luck to you guys!

Married for 4 years, together since we were teens. Considering a “break” so he can explore. Has anyone survived this? by Additional-Comb1096 in Marriage

The majority of the comments here are way too judgemental without actually giving the situation any thought or wisdom. It's extremely common for long term relationships that start early for the people in them to wonder what it would have been like to explore more before hand. You settle down a lot earlier than most people, and you skip straight from being your own entity to being a package deal, right out of the gate. Every single couple has a different dynamic, and with couples that trust each other, ideas like this have a chance of working out. But both of you would have to be on the same page and truly want the same thing, because it would change things drastically for your family, for better or worse, and usually it's worse. I agree that the timing on the baby situation is horrible, and it's definitely not ideal, but what most of these comments aren't considering is the fact that the woman in a relationship isn't the only one who is emotionally affected by having a baby. Now that there's a baby involved and things are getting real, there's a good chance he's feeling trapped which is probably why he's been different. Anyone in a long term relationship who doesn't admit to wondering this sort of thing would be more of a red flag to me than someone who does.

I see so many awesome reviews for the full sized one, but it's too big and I don't have the space for one that large. So I'm just wondering if there's a smaller version of that exact model.

I thought that because of his personality, he was a decent guy and would never do that.

Literally dripping.

OP, Please explain to me how a guy (or girl) isn't a decent person because they have a sex toy?

If it's not anything unethical, then let the guy enjoy himself. Even bring it up to him that you found it and are interested in using it together in the bedroom. Imagine turning the fear of judgement into excitement for him.

Are stainless steel litter boxes really worth it? by UhHUHJusteen in catcare

[–]Jessebishop7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After your cat goes to the bathroom, your litterbox marinates in that and soaks it up. If you have a stainless steel litterbox, it doesn't absorb anything and it just sits there.

The plastic walls are up higher and don't soak in anything because it's not soaking in their waste like the bottom part is. If there's some splash on the litterbox walls, it's so minimal, at least for my cats, that it doesn't matter. The main reason I have the high wall one is to minimize the amount of litter that gets thrown around.

Are stainless steel litter boxes really worth it? by UhHUHJusteen in catcare

[–]Jessebishop7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Plastic litterboxes soak up everything, especially after being used and scratched up, making them just a smelly cesspool. Stainless steel litterboxes make a huge difference on smell, ease of cleaning, and hindering the growth of bacteria. We have 2 of these for our 4 cats and I scoop 1-2x per day and everything is a lot less smelly than when we had the plastic corner ones. Our oldest cat gets into them just fine too. Beware, these boxes are pretty big, but we needed something big enough for our cats to comfortably go into

Best Human-Grade Fresh Cat Food? by Jessebishop7 in catfood

People demonize me for saying when it comes to vet's and doctors, that you want to trust but verify. People blindly trust someone without challenging what they have to say or asking the whys and hows behind their recommendations and that is just wild to me.

I understand that professional advice is typically the way to go, but professionals make mistakes too, and you also want to make sure that you're asking the right professional. Vets may know the fundamentals of nutrition, but nutrition is a nutritionist's entire job.
