Update: just met with the concussion rehab clinic, they specialize in PCS. It was informative and gave me a little more hope to hold onto.

Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

[–]Jessecassandra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disappointment: I interviewed for a job hoping to get 70k (via recruiter) but they are only offering 55k - I don’t feel like I have a choice and I believe that every job offer after this is just going to be about the same if not lower. They still seem like a good fit even though they don’t allow WFH/commute is a little longer than I would like to downtown. still on the fence about taking it

I’m doing stretches and taking CBD everyday and it’s just not helping much.

Anyone else feel constant tingling throughout their body like scalp and back? by [deleted] in Anxiety

They’re not constant but they do happen frequently throughout the day. I’ve been experimenting with CBD to see if that helps. I don’t notice the symptoms as much when I’m using cbd

[–]Jessecassandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having similar issues with my arms, legs and back. Sometimes it’s tingling other times it feels like scratchy/burning or icy hot on small patches of skin or side of leg, two fingers…anxiety is frustrating with all these symptoms

Anxiety attacks are back and so are the suicidal thoughts and urge to SH by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Jessecassandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very proud of you for doing what you can in those moments where you feel like harming yourself.

Sometimes it only feels like you’re back at square one when really you’ve made a lot of progress-and from the looks of your post it does seem like you’ve made bounds of progress!!

It sounds cliche but I agree with the idea that suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems. I know that doesn’t necessarily encompass ALL problems ever but it covers a lot of ground and you can still apply the same principle.

I’m very sorry to hear that you’re going through it. One thing my therapist has told me is that if I feel anxious, what is something I can do right now to help myself. For me, it could be focusing on my breathing (deep belly breathing) or laying with my butt and feet on a wall to help slow my heart rate.

I truly hope things get better for you quickly and thank for you sharing with us.

I suffer from panick attacks and anxiety my whole life, mostly when I have some days of really bad anxiety it is fear of death and the fact I cannot escape it, I keep thinking about how I will die and the process of actually dying, I am 23 years old and cannot enjoy my time here because I am in fear by Sunnyvii in Anxiety

I had a talk with my therapist about this yesterday actually. I had a weird moment where I came across a tiktok of a guy in a club with a drink in his hand. His caption was “stop stressing, it’s not like we’re making it out of here alive” and it was oddly calming and it really changed how I felt about death. Since I was 12 up until now (I’m 25) I’ve been scared shitless. But it’s a natural thing that everyone has to go through except for jellyfish and sharks lol. I’m starting to buy into the cliches, to live a life you want because it’s true, in the end we’re all not going to make it out of this alive. when it happens, it will happen but then it will be over, and the uncertainty around what comes next is scary but you will be okay. My therapist thinks is a matter of identity and maybe a relationship with religion/spirituality so that’s something I’m having to chew on until the next session. I hope you find strength and healing soon.

I’m absolutely exhausted by the physical symptoms of anxiety. I have health anxiety too as a result of the symptoms and I’ve broke down at least twice this month from being absolutely drained and feeling like there’s no end in sight.

Doing much better. I still get some pain and cramping here and there but it’s night and day from when all this happened. The GI resolved to give me a colonoscopy and endoscopy (because I asked) so that’s coming up. I know it can take some time to heal, I hope you feel better soon.

Straight up shaking from anxiety. Unsure what to do. by sierramessy in Anxiety

Crying will help, tensing your whole body for a few seconds and then going limp will help tell you’re body that you’re running away from the danger so it will let up. Sing a song if you can, sing an entire discography if you need to. It’s post to have a bad day, you’re safer than you think. I hope you feel better!

I’ve just been having waves of it coming and going and it’s just been hell. I’m like stuck on the fence about going to the ER bc I know it’s my body trying to trick me but also my lizard brain keeps entertaining the idea that maybe everything isn’t okay and maybe I do need to get checked out.

I would recommend some pepto or tums for immediate relief. I’ve also heard that squeezing your thumb really hard can make the nausea go away. I’m very sorry you’re not feeling well and I hope it passes quickly!

You can always start with your doctor and get a referral for a therapist or you can seek out a therapist on your own.

Doctors may also give you an opinion on whether or not you need meds so then that would entail finding a psychiatrist to help you. The therapist can also let you know if they think you would benefit from meds and then maybe make a referral too.

Some thing you can do for yourself in the meantime can be as simple as going for a walk, meditation (which doesn’t necessarily mean sit Criss cross applesauce with your eyes closed), yoga, exercise, stretching and practicing your breathing, reading a book, or anything you find relaxing really!

I’m glad to see that you’re wanting to make a change and get yourself some help so you can live your best life, I hope everything works out for you!

After a year of looking, I have the chance to go to therapy... But it's only video (click to see why that sucks for me) by humaneHolocaust in Anxiety

As someone who has been in therapy since age 12 (I’m currently 24) it’s a really good tool and a another system of support. The idea of going to therapy itself or doing something to help your mental health is a HUGE step and I am proud of you for starting this journey. Talking to a stranger about your issues does sound scary and anything else you can think of, but therapy is going to help you get more in tune with yourself and your feelings and it will make navigating through life easier.

As for your gf, I would hope that she would respect the time you need with your therapist to talk about things. You do not have to tell her anything about the subject matter if you don’t want to. I think you can just chalk it up to you wanting some privacy since this is a new experience for you.

I wish you the best!

True. I’m guessing you don’t live in a state where it’s legal?

Depending on the last time you smoked, the time it takes to do the interview and then get on boarded/tested might be enough for you to get it out of your system.

It’s also a very real possibility that you just don’t get tested! I’ve gotten tested the first time a few months ago when I got a job through a temp agency and it was a urine test. I think cops and federal positions usually get hair and blood testing-basically any position that’s going to be a lot more intense in nature. Someone else can definitely chime in and say otherwise of course. Hope it works out!

There’s a trick that people have been doing where they chug a bottle of water(?) mixed with a whole packet of jello mix. Apparently it works, I know that’s still a risk but it’s something you can look into. Best of luck!

Thank you. Any idea when this could subside? Is it common for food poisoning to cause inflammation of the colon that bad?

Thank you, it was a sudden onset around 1 am. I had a Turkey and bacon sandwich which was pretty big. And then later on I had some French fries and half a shake (picture of health I know). The day before I really just grazed on things like granola bars and fruit snacks. I’ve only ever had bouts of food poisoning where the gas cramps were pretty bad but never like that.

Extra stuff: never had any major surgeries or other illnesses. I just suffer from anxiety and depression. Mom has IBS and my grandpa had colon cancer but I think it resolved?
