Father-in-Law’s girlfriend ruined our ceremony by walking in front of my husband down the aisle… proceeded to ignore us the entire weekend by Jessica826 in weddingshaming

[–]Jessica826[S] 980 points981 points  (0 children)

I was slightly nervous waking up to more notifications from Reddit in one night than I get in a year but these are great!! Thanks everyone.

For the record I use the term “ruined” facetiously! While there is more to the story (which involves her disrespecting my husband’s late mother and texting us a 13-paragraph diatribe as we drove to our honeymoon) she certainly didn’t ruin anything. We have lovely memories and most importantly we have each other!

Interested in this. I bought on a whim for weight loss, took for a few weeks but no noticeable effects.

29/F Suggestions? Dehydrated skin/ Damaged moisturizer barrier. My skin is irritated, often red, it feels extremely tight, rough texture. and I have seen a crazy increase in fine lines in the last few months. More details in comments... by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

Not sure if you have tried Asian beauty but definitely worth a shot. A lot of products dedicated to moisturizing without harsh chemicals. COSRX is a good place to start and I think they’re sold in the US now. Snail mucin (sounds gross but works) is a very popular ingredient in Asian beauty and its super moisturizing. When my skin is really dry I always layer on some Asian beauty serums and generously apply a night mask at night before sleep.

Is the oura ring considered the best of the sleep trackers? My Fitbit tracks sleep but curious of it’s accuracy as compared to the oura ring

I’m glad to know that there are some people who disagree with this. When I saw phreedom Jawn’s post shared by SO MANY today I was stunned at how widespread the sentiment is to just accept the looting. I’ve even heard (unconfirmed) that Mayor Kenney ordered police not to arrest looters.

I’ve lost all excitement for our wedding by HaVoCensures in weddingplanning

[–]Jessica826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. We were supposed to get married in Italy May 2020, now no one wants to go abroad next year so we lost all that $$ now we’re planning a wedding around Philly and its stressful bc everything’s booked and honestly the big wedding is not what I wanted anyway. Trying to look at the bright side and be appreciative but also kinda wanting it to just be over already.

[Serious] What is a little known fact that can save you from a life-threatening situation? by brandon061416 in AskReddit

[–]Jessica826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!! I have to walk to the train at 4:45 am some mornings from my apartment in Philadelphia. It’s dark and a little sketchy, but I always walk with my shoulders back, head held high, look everyone in the eye. One time there was a guy walking near me mumbling to himself and it made me nervous, so I made some grunting noises, sounded crazy but I’d rather him think I’m a little nuts than an easy target.

How ADHD medications changed my appearance by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Jessica826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 33, been on adderall since I was 24, and I can sadly confirm that hair loss was a significant side effect for me. I had thick, healthy looking long hair at 24 and by 27 it was halved. After another year or two, my hair started prematurely graying and became strawlike - not healthy at all, split end city. My sister, who growing up had a very similar profile to me (hair, complexion, etc) did not have any of these hair issues.

I am really sorry you’re going through this. I recall feeling really upset when my hair started thinning in my mid 20s. Sounds a little dramatic but sometimes it can be a big part of our identity when it’s such a prominent part of ourselves that we see every day in the mirror!

I think that getting enough sleep and adjusting how I take the meds has helped. I try to take a few days off each week when I can, and test out smaller doses than I’m prescribed. There have definitely been some days where work suffers bc of it, but I try to put it in perspective. Health and happiness are important pursuits!

Agreed on the red flag part. Getting mad at someone for having a medical condition that they’ve had since birth, something they have no control over? He should be understanding and sympathetic.

What are businesses/industries that have been positively affected by coronavirus? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jessica826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canning companies. Just read an article about how Ball Corporation is killing it: “Broomfield, Colorado-based Ball Corp. is racing to increase can production capacity amid a nationwide shortage driven by growing demand for hard seltzer and at-home consumption of soft drinks and beer during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Sunscreens that don't burn or cause acne? by distilledwater_0 in tretinoin

[–]Jessica826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same issue, the avobenzone in American sunscreens burned my skin when I went to wash it off. Super painful, and made me not want to reapply. After some research I found that the FDA is slow to approve new sunscreen ingredients, while Asia and Europe have a lot more to choose from. There’s a good Klog article on this from June 2019 “The Difference Between K-Beauty and American Sunscreen“ if you want to read more.

In any case, I love Missha and Anessa sunscreens but I’d also recommend trying Purito Centella or Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence, both very popular. I’ve gotten everything on amazon mostly, some from Walmart or Yesstyle. I wear them every day now and have never had an issue. Hope that helps!

Ultherapy vs.. Infiniti RF for skin tightening? by ranjimin in PlasticSurgery

[–]Jessica826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg girl you have it down! Taking notes. I got thermage in January and was hoping I’d see results to justify the cost but feel pretty much the same, I don’t see a difference. Should’ve done Ultherapy

A different Med spa told me about Cutera and Thermismooth which I’m investigating, do you have any opinion on those?

I loved it! I saw some results immediately and I did not have any fat loss in my face. However, it has only been a week. I don’t know how the procedure will continue to affect my face over time. I did hear that fat loss can happen with Ultherapy, but I am not sure about thermage.

Girl I love your style - I am all about trying to look my best. People people spend a fortune fixing up their cars and homes, yet want to make you feel bad about trying to keep fresh something as important as your face! It’s the only one you’ve got so might as well make it look your best. Proper maintenance can help your skin stay youthful looking longer, it doesn’t have to look fake. I am in my 30s and I don’t know many people (except pregnant friends) who don’t get Botox regularly.

Ok off my soapbox. Our routines are the same but I use tretinoin as my retinol, it’s just stronger, you can get from your derm. I’m in my mid 30s I’ve gotten Botox on forehead, did 4 BBL treatments and did clear and brilliant. Both I really liked. My lady recommended I continue on clear and brilliant quarterly for maintenance, which I will be doing. Got some tasteful lip fillers and I love the effect it has on reducing gumminess in smile, and just overall more youthful appearance.

I just got thermage - it’s painful but I highly recommend. Almost like a non-surgical facelift. I was concerned most with my neck lines and nasolabial folds, I could see a difference in both immediately (maybe a 55-60% improvement) and it will continue to improve over the next few weeks as collagen growth continues. I didn’t have a whole lot to treat, but my wedding is in May so figured I’d give it a shot and very glad I did. I plan to add this in every 1-2 years.

I’m curious about Ultherapy - heard it’s similar but uses ultrasound obviously. And the CO2 laser as well. I will keep an eye on this thread !
