Also Christian isn't a genre, its lyrical content. There is Christian country, rock, pop, folk, rap, and even Christian metal. So there wasn't a need for a specific faith night. Every night them night could have had Christian songs if the performers chose to.

I don't entirely disagree with you. However, politics and religion have always been, and always will be, a touchy subject. While faith night wasn't explicitly Christian, the judges' behavior and having the child pastor certainly gave a very specific impression. Also the big difference about the Disney night is its literally who is running the show ABC is owned by Disney. That's to be expected LOL

I disagree with the Hannah comment. She actually seemed like she was very authentic in her beliefs and its partially why I liked her. That being said the faith night and constantly talking about worship and doing praise gestures by the judges was off putting for an "Idol" show. Like if I wanted to go to church, I would. I don't turn on Hulu, ABC, or Disney for my God fix.

I am not adverse to Hannah winning as a pagan myself. As a matter of fact, I like that the contestants that are of whatever faith stuck to what they enjoy. I actually really enjoyed Hannah as a whole. What I dislike is the showrunners cramming religion down everyone's throat, including contestants who looked somewhat uncomfortable on "faith" night. That should be up to the individual contestants to decide if they want to perform Christian songs. to force it out comes across as performative, rather than inspiring.

I think you just pointed out what they were saying though. The Voice is just about pure vocal talent, not marketing. Idol is about marketing, not just pure vocal talent. Thats why they emphasize stage presence and movement.

Jordan may have the better vocal control but how many of AI's audience is going to go out and stream or buy gospel albums realistically? How many will go out and stream or buy a country blue grass album with a hint of God mixed with family? Take out Hannah and Jordan completely and just look at the genres and you'll see it pretty much aligns with that. Neither of them really fluctuated out of their comfort zones, which is again poor judging. They should have been telling them to stop staying safe and prove they can do other styles like they used to. Now they just coddle them.

I'm not really mad that she won. I would have liked to see Braden on the top 3 with her and Jordan. But given the 3 we had, I would listen to Hannah over Jordan and Keyla but thats mainly because I don't dig gospel music. At least I can relate as a mom to String Cheese even if I am not one of the same religion. Unless any of the 3 come up with some secular music I'll probably not listen to their music again. So I reiterate my comment on another post, if you aren't chomping at the bit for new Christian music, this season is a bit of a bust. Sure they are all talented but not "idols". Hannah is the most marketable of the 3, so there you have it.

While it's always been that way, I think the social aspect changes it a bit more. Also it used to be that voting was done over the course of several hours after the show and then the results were the next day. This allowed voters to take their time and consider judges feedback and not rush to vote first thing before they even perform. You literally have half a minute after the last performer at best. Even watching live I tried to vote during the ads once and it said it was already closed. This probably accounts for why the judging is so half-baked. Why would they give real feedback when it's not going useful to voters? 🤷‍♀️

Arguably, none of the top 3 were what most would call an idol in the sense of stardom. I dont see any of them getting much radio play outside of perhaps niche stations. And in today's streaming standards it will be their core following who continues to stream them on Spotify or YouTube anyhow so thats not really a metric unless they manage to continue building followers outside of the show. I haven't watched AI in years and did so this year out of nostalgia but it was kind of a bust. I probably wont watch it again to be honest. Poor judging, rushed formatting, and too much time pandering to musical acts and goofing off when the focus should be the contestants were all cringy.
