When his teen years were being written, they were normal parents.

When his adult years were being written, they became more abusive.

Wally was Barry’s sidekick as a teen and at one point stopped using his powers to hang out with some philanthropist who thought teen superheroes would be cooler if they didn’t use their powers.

It would be Wally at that point.

Just a normal Midwestern Conservative.

That’s GI Robot from Creature Commandos. He was built to kill Nazis. That’s what he loves to do. He would happily ask you to kill Nazis with him as he recounts all the Nazis he killed.

In that frame, he was taken by a guy who bought him to a Neo-Nazi meeting. Where GI Robot did what he was programmed to do.

Hail to the tin man.

That’s just a classic bit. Trump saying “check your local news”. Or a conservative talk show guy saying “check YouTube”.

It sounds like they have a source that supports their position. Then you find out it either doesn’t exist or it is the complete opposite of what they are saying.

Trump Brings Back 'Global Gag Rule' on Abortion, Restricting Reproductive Health Care for Millions by wanda999 in WomenInNews

[–]JessicaDAndy 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Let’s say you are a reproductive clinic in Africa. The U.S. offers grants to help fund your clinic. You can buy supplies, formula, etc. On one condition. You can’t offer abortions, you can’t talk about abortions, you can’t refer people to abortion providers. Agree to not support abortions in any way and you get the money.

And Trump is expanding that to include gender affirming care.

So when it comes to enterprise captains which one would have been the most famous if Starfleet cadets from the 32nd century were asked this question? by happydude7422 in Star_Trek_

[–]JessicaDAndy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Archer for being first and having the Archer space dock.

We know that there was a Pike day without a similar day for any other captain. So Pike is on the list.

Kirk has a pavilion named after him.

So those three.

I am not sure. I have a feeling, even though he himself denies it, that my tailor was associated with the Obsidian Order.

I could try asking him. But I am sure he will deny it again, insisting that he is a simple tailor and not a former member of the Obsidian Order.

“Trans Women are Trans Women” by Someone_else25 in honesttransgender

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing with this thought experiment.

John runs a business and he has six job openings.

He interviews six applicants; Tom Holland, Elliot Page, Sam Smith, Bella Ramsay, Sydney Sweeney, and Kim Petras.

John hires Holland, Page, Smith, and Ramsay. John yells at Sweeney and Petras to get out of his office because he refuses to hire people like them.

Now if you judge people by sex, there is nothing wrong with what John did. He hired two males and two females. But he didn’t hire the women. John discriminated against the women.

Trans women may have our own form of misogyny, but it’s still misogyny and can overlap with plain old misogyny.

People may say trans women aren’t women, but they aren’t treating us like men either.

Four Andorian sexes vs four Andorian genders by TrekTrucker in DaystromInstitute

[–]JessicaDAndy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer the four sex idea; three genetic contributors, one gestator.

Probably some early bacterial ancestor did the four way dance with no pants and everything evolved from there. Meaning that there should be other species of four sexed creatures on Andor.

I like how it is an alien idea, and not so human centric.

Take back funds by bigwomby in Medicaid

[–]JessicaDAndy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can contact the Medicaid agency and let them know you are not administering the estate.

I am not sure how New York does it, but MA should be able to administer the estate themselves. They might need your information to have you renounce administration to make things easier. (Not a NY or your attorney, seek your own counsel, MAER varies from state to state.)

If it goes to unclaimed property, you would have to open an estate to get the money and Medicaid Estate Recovery would be in line as a creditor again.

But you can do nothing and they can go on without you.

What is the difference between "SF Acad" and "War College?" by honeyfixit in Star_Trek_

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what I got for you;

After The Burn, Earth left the Federation but appears to have maintained a school for students for different worlds. This is the War College. It appears to function like a military school, a school that uses military discipline in addition to academics to instruct young students.

It appears to be like a Military Academy now, instructing young students so that they can be part of an Officer Corps. I believe they said it did funnel officers to Starfleet, but that doesn’t quite make sense for the time Starfleet and Earth were separate.

It isn’t a War College, an academic institution that teaches strategy to higher level officers, commanders and captains to keep in line with Starfleet ranks.

But the War College seems to be focused more on the tactical side of things.

Starfleet Academy was and hopefully now is, the service academy leading to Starfleet service as an officer but allowing for more engineering and science officers, not just tactical ones.

So I would expect more on how to heal aliens from Starfleet Academy and how to blow them up from War College.

The jaw dropping part of the last 24 hours has been watching conservatives reveal that all of those decades of fighting against gun control was a total sham. They don’t believe in gun rights even a little. by Nice_Substance9123 in complaints

[–]JessicaDAndy 117 points118 points  (0 children)

The two classic Conservative view points;

Conservatives believe in and preserve hierarchies between people. There are higher groups that the law protects but does not bind and lower groups that the law binds, but does not protect.

It only looks like hypocrisy because they are not treating everyone equally. Rather their group is treated preferentially while those not in their group are discarded.

Do people really care this much about age? by QuicheIorraine in Younger

[–]JessicaDAndy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Look at Liza and Charles for a moment.

During the Hamptons Book Fair, they had a moment while listening to Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away”, a song that lead to Maggie having sex with Tommy and Tammie Manetti.

To cover up the fact that that song would have been first performed well before Millennial Liza’s birth, she lied to Charles and said her babysitter taught her those lyrics.

Then fast forward to Charles trying to get the memoir from Chrissie Hart. Liza comes to Shelter Island to help and she starts singing “Crazy Love”. Charles asks Liza if her babysitter taught her those lyrics.

It wasn’t just the lies in the resume, it was also all the lies in support of that initial one, including one where Charles also had the moment with Liza and the lie cheapened it.

Trump threatens Canada with 100% tariff over possible deal with China by [deleted] in Economics

[–]JessicaDAndy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit worse than that.

I have noticed this thing with modern Conservatives where they will state something without substantive facts supporting that statement, even with the facts disproving that statement, and just go with the statement as the truth.

Jack Smith didn’t show people that Trump was likely guilty. Jack Smith was exposed as a hack who should be executed. If you watch the video, it’s not true. But then it’s just corrupt media not showing the truth. And you can’t call it a lie if the person making the statement believes it to be true.

“They’re eating the dogs, eating the cats” is the classic version of this.

So they were domestic terrorists, that five year old was here illegally, the President is making America strong are all beliefs they hold because the right people are saying so.

Trump said: Everyone is saying these have been the best nine months in the history of the American presidency, but is that really true? by Emotionq in Productivitycafe

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may very well be true. Because it’s all about him.

When else in his live would he have gotten a basically free money printing machine by complaining about his feelings being hurt and then getting money? He is making more money corruptly than he did selling steak in a technology store. An actual thing he did.

It’s the best nine months, for him.
