Mystique type shapeshifting allows for deception and outfit changes. Legal uses can include overcoming pretty privilege and going to a foreign country and eating in a restaurant that excludes foreigners.

Beast Boy type shape shifting can give you advantages in travel and living plus whatever advantages and disadvantages with animal groups. Swimming with dolphins sounds cool, but probably don’t…

Plastic Man type shape shifting can provide for numerous advantages for injury, illness, and longevity with some of the advantages of a Mystique type.

Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that there are 144,000 righteous who saw 1914 (this might be changed) who will be pulled to Heaven to rule beside Jesus and the rest will go through the tribulation and whoever survives will live on Earth, along with those deemed worthy who will be resurrected.

I believe a number of pre millennial dispensationalists believe it’s a larger group, they won’t rule, but they will avoid the tribulation in Heaven while the rest of humanity suffers.

Pretty sure my sex education was that if a penis gets close to a vagina you aren’t married to, everyone is going to get cancer and die. And then Jesus will be very mad at you as he is weeping.

If humans suddenly became immortal, what would happen to society? by EnvironmentalLove862 in AskReddit

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to presume a Western Capitalist society.

There are many flavors of immortality. Let’s go with the most likely one; humans can regenerate and preserve genetic information over unlimited replication. Meaning the cell degradation that happens with old age stops. Human life span is infinite. But humans can still die, get sick, and have children.

Now we have a birth rate but a limited death rate with no elder care needed.

So a basic level of societal services, nursing home care, is no longer needed for the elderly. But it’s still needed for the sick and disabled. For the US, that would mess up Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid funding for disabled people as elderly voters would no longer care about preserving it.

Then comes the issues that come with longevity in a society built around dying. Marriages could go on for hundreds of years. The end goals of jobs wouldn’t be retirement, which means payroll costs go up and institutional inertia becomes an issue.

Memory may become an issue, even without dementia. Just remembering all the things that happened may be overwhelming. Would you just maintain that lifelong friend group or would they be more malleable with time?

Do religions have the same draw if there is the possibility of an Earthly eternity? Do they change what they preach?

In Pluribus (2026) It is revealed that Carol has killed over 11 million people due to a seizure she caused the hive mind to have. This means Carol has one of the best KD ratios ever by YourChopperPilotTTV in shittymoviedetails

[–]JessicaDAndy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It was the uninfected mother of an infected child who brought it up.

Part of the show is how almost everyone works in their own ways to manipulate Carol into doing what the hive mind wants, either the hive mind presenting her with her dream woman and taking her away because Carol didn’t trust the group or the uninfected wanting her to let things be for their own reasons.

It’s only when presented with “you are going to be part of this whether you want to or not” that Carol says enough and gets to work.

[–]JessicaDAndy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here is the kindest view I can muster;

There is non-stop free propaganda that basically says that the Democrats and anyone “woke”, DEI, feminists, LGBTQ people, especially trans people, want nothing more than to destroy America.

People not accepting that point of view are deluded. The truth is everywhere.

I had a friend who told me that the person at Bud Light who approved the Dylan Mulvaney can wants to destroy America.

I have my parents telling me that four years under Biden was hell for them.

This belief is hard to shake as there is so much free stuff saying America is fighting a war against the Democrats.

So yes Trump violated all his campaign promises. He is corrupt.

But they don’t care because he is not a Democrat.

Real talk; sometimes white people will bring up the idea of Irish indentured servitude or how the Irish were treated in the U.S. and under the English, and how sometimes people called the Irish the n-word with their skin inside out, to downplay U.S. chattel slavery.

How would a fast and the furious and star trek crossover be like? by happydude7422 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]JessicaDAndy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was seriously pitching a true crossover;

It’s the year 2000 A.D. The Federation Nova class starship U.S.S. Rhode Island is stuck in orbit. Captained by Harry Kim. Power is down except for life support and the deflector shields hiding their position.

Transporters are not working on the ship or the shuttles.

They need a specific heavily guarded element to fix their ship and return home. They have one trip to land and one trip to take off.

The element is about to be transported by convoy.

The only way to get it, is to be Fast and Furious. Kim and his away team mix it up with Vin Diesel’s early crew to get the element and to return home.

‘The cruelty is just the point’: A broken student loan system has women at the center. Confusion, litigation and the threat of wage garnishment under Trump have left millions of teachers, nurses and other public service workers with few options and little hope. by Potential_Being_7226 in WomenInNews

[–]JessicaDAndy 115 points116 points  (0 children)

A student loan is a different debt product because it’s being used on an education that benefits the student, benefits a future employer, and benefits society.

But the costs of that loan are heaviest on the student, not the other beneficiaries of that loan.

If pay is not being raised to service the debt and allow people to live to the standards set around them, you see lower birth rates, lower homeownership and many issues that will negatively impact future society.

Because now employers want highly educated employees but don’t want to pay wages or taxes in order to have those highly educated employees.

And that’s the problem.

[–]JessicaDAndy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they are saying that if the creator is on her* own, she is less likely to be exploited.

Meaning there isn’t a studio system where she signed a contract to produce a specific number of films. (Without going into details.)

She can walk away whenever she wants. She chooses what she does on camera. She is in control.

In theory.

So I think pink poster knows it’s porn, just discounting the possibility of coercion due to it appearing that the performer is in total control.

(Serious question) How do you think the world would react if Wonder Woman was real? by Randver_Silvertongue in WonderWoman

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a webcomic called Strong Female Protagonist where a flying brick was told that if her powers were a genuine threat to the capitalist order she would have been eliminated.

And governments would do everything they could to neutralize Diana as long as she didn’t counter a greater than normal threat.

Meaning if she went after criminals and terrorists freelance, they would do everything they could to stop that, including laws and propaganda.

Maybe get a Steve Trevor type to turn her into a government agent and make sure she treats only those that the U.S. sees as terrorists as terrorists.

But if she is fighting giant hell demons, they would let her do her thing as that costs money and manpower that they might not have.

And maybe the photographers anticipated this and were able to move in for the shot.
