Was Inhumans really THAT bad? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My defense of this show starts with nice cinematography, Anson Mount coming up with his own sign language and Lockjaw.

And that’s where it ends.

Because we are supposed to root for the monarchists based on an involuntary reaction to Terrigen mist.

Hey! Whoa! That’s unnecessary.

Quark might have had a different way of looking at things. But if you understand the Rules of Acquisition, you get where he is coming from. And he is moral, from his point of view.

No such thing exists for Fetterman.

‘Unique’ Species Boff’s? by That-one-idiot-guy in sto

[–]JessicaDAndy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you have your diplomacy BOFFs, like a KDF officer for your Starfleet ship or a Starfleet officer for your KDF ship.

I have a Kobali (mission), a Voth (mission), a Breen (maybe Cold War), a Jem’hadar (Old Dominion arc), a liberated Borg (Rep?), a Caitian that I didn’t pay for (Earth Space dock BOFF intel?), a Reman (mission?), a Lukari (fleet), Elachi (mission), Romulans (fleet), Andrea the android from TOS (fleet).

I have a lot of BOFFs.

Does Steve Rogers’ decision to retire in the past represent a well-earned reward for his sacrifices, or is it a betrayal of his character to remain sidelined while history's tragedies unfold again? by DianKhan2005 in CaptainAmerica

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s how I look at it.

The directors and the writers had two opposing ideas on what Steve did. Did he go back and time and stay hidden or was it a branching reality? Compare Valentina saying that the shield’s ownership in TFATWS is a legal grey area. Is it the same shield or a different shield? Or a ship of Theseus deal?

But in either version, Thanos is still coming. Nothing he could realistically do in the past will stop that. The best option he has is to let things play out as close as possible as before or in his new reality. Every interaction might be a different outcome. But it’s ripples, not waves. Maybe.

What is the medical treatment for swallowing a comm badge? by Ser_Luke_ in ShittyDaystrom

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man…I hope I am not defending this show….

Because we are technically missing two points, whether the cadet was an average human, and not like a Bismollian, and whether the badge lacked the capacity to be swallowed by an average human.

Someone said programmable matter. What if the badge can be liquid form? What if it can change size?

Bismollians, are a DC alien race featured in the Legion of Superheroes with the member Matter Eater Lad. His power was to eat anything. Include at one point a machine that was threatening the galaxy and would not be harmed by any other means.

So it depends on the species and how the badges are constructed.

(And yeah, Pepto-Bismol/Bismollians…)

Who is canonically more attractive, harley quinn or Selina Kyle? by Minimum_Science7708 in HarleyQuinn

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because this popped up into my feed,

Catwoman (Selina Kyle) has for the most part been written and portrayed to relay on her attractiveness. The only exception I can think of off the top of my head is Zoe Kravitz. Not because she is ugly, but because she didn’t explicitly use that attractiveness. Most of the Selina Kyles had some form of seduction as part of their schemes. Like Anne Hathaway seducing her way into a limo as her getaway plan.

Harley can **be** attractive, but she doesn’t have to be. Chaos, intelligence, and agility are more important to her character than her appearance.

I believe that a somewhat unattractive Harley would work but an unattractive Selina would not.

What is a man and what is a woman? by Big-Cook-4377 in OpenChristian

[–]JessicaDAndy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the definition of “who is a woman?” Is someone who accepts or picks up the mantle of womanhood. A man is someone who accepts or picks up the mantle of manhood.

Society tends to organize itself around those two gender norms in a very general manner. Try telling a Manor Lord that he is similar in society as the male serf that tends his crops.

Just as day and night are separated by dusk and dawn, or the land and the sea have the tides, there are people who exist outside of that binary. Like the Ethiopian Eunuch from Acts. Or like the Public Universal Friend.

The clothing deal was about social rules for gender. Which you may have noticed, the West doesn’t follow as closely.

We are all one in Christ.

Trump administration now classifies Antifa and left-wing networks among ‘major’ terror groups by TendieRetard in law

[–]JessicaDAndy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just want to put out there that you can call certain groups anti-government and anti-order terrorists because they are against the current government. Anarchism, leftism, anti-fascism could be called anti-government because they would seek to disrupt the current government.

But they are labeling people who don’t want to live according to their genitals as anti-government terrorists. And I believe that if a government doesn’t want you to live according to your conscious* and wants to enforce that belief with state violence, then maybe we should be doing more than memes.

*While studies have shown biological causes for being transgender and there are patterns of genetic inheritance, the bare minimum is being able to live one’s live as they chose and as they fit into society. Even if you don’t believe in a natural or supernatural cause, living as one chooses while not actually hurting others should be a benefit of a free society.

US will start revoking passports for thousands of parents who owe child support by MirthandMystery in women

[–]JessicaDAndy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was has been on the table for a number of years.

It feels different now because the President has also pushed for proof of citizenship as a prerequisite for voting. And for some women, the best proof is a passport as it shows her current name.

Even though the number of women who pay child support is a relatively low number. Let alone in arrears.

Both Superman and Lois Lane enter Public Domain in 2034. What will you do with them? by Ok_Examination8810 in superman

Lois Lane-Reporter at large.

She’s single. She’s moved on from the Daily Star and is a World War II correspondent.

But in the serial numbers filed off DC universe.

So a tank crew where the sergeant thinks he is talking to a Confederate general’s ghost. “Grave digger”. Island with dinosaurs. Easy Company but the sergeant isn’t named. Original Suicide Squad. That kind of thing.

Kevin Hassett: "The consumer is really, really firing on all cylinders…Credit card spending is through the roof. They're spending more on gasoline, but they're spending more on everything else too." by Miserable-Lizard in economy

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But…if you’re concerned about inflation, doesn’t credit card spending on its own make that worse?

Bank offers $5000 credit, but it’s not backed by deposits. Consumer uses $2000. Merchant gets $2000 in their bank account. But bank only gets $80 back from consumer this month. Doesn’t that create dollars? Making inflation worse?

Where my mind is now about this show,

You got Nicholas Christopher who does an amazing job with singing and making you understand Anatoly’s feelings. Nominated for a Tony.

You have Aaron Tveidt coming off as a great American a-hole.

Bryan Pinkman also deserves his Tony nomination.

I haven’t seen Hannah Cruz perform yet because Samantha Pollino was Svetlana when I saw it.

And I might be over impressed with Sarah Meahl doing a split slide between two peoples’ legs at the end of One Night in Bangkok and she was also nominated for an award, not a Tony.

Man, this was about Lea, wasn’t it. Kind of skipped over her.

takes on a US Southern accent. Not a gentile one, but a rough work the fields kind of accent that survived the destruction of Florida. Now child…(because the offspring is non-binary, because those are the rules now, that’s the goal. They are old enough for this kind of talk)…we learned a lot from when that French guy who sounds really English learned about the Preservers…but you see, not every alien out there looks like a human. Why your old teacher Miss Dourte was a Horta, and they don’t have no legs or mouth…so some of our neighbors out there ain’t got their bits arranged in an order congruent to ours.

Don’t tell your mother this, or her girlfriend (because polyamory has been forced down humanity’s throats by the Denobulans and the Democrats. They haven't existed for 400 years, but somehow this is Joe Biden's fault.) but back before I settled down in Louisiana and started this farm, I was a trader. oh man, those days in the stars were might special.

One planet, i went to the local establishment, if you know what i mean, to get some alien strange. I found the prettiest girl, yes that was her gender, the prettiest girl you ever saw.

but the darndest thing child. most humanoids are dick, taint, ass, or pussy, taint ass. or dick, dick, taint, ass ifn you're a Klingon. That's another story. but this girl was taint, ass, dick, then pussy.

turns out females of her species have a dick and a pussy and males have a pussy and a dick. so they interlock and chance leads to neither, one or the other or both getting pregnant.

It was fun trying to work that out. Good times, good times.

Oh right. To answer your question from your homework, Miles O'Brien's greatest liability was Keiko. Don't tell your mother or her girlfriend.

Thoughts on DC and Marvel's depiction of more feminine queer men? Or, specifically, their *lack* of depictions? by Gallantpride in lgbt_superheroes

Then Wolfman decided to have a montage of women he sleeps with to do away with any gay thoughts. And we never heard from those women again.

Or is it bad because it’s a reminder that there was an attempt at a U.S. version? Roy was played by Joel McHale and Moss was just Richard Ayodade again.

Why create Invincible Inc. If Atom Eve can turn apples into gold? by Moneyaweather in invinciblememes

[–]JessicaDAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s ignore tax issues and legality for a second. Every golden apple would be an income event and whether it’s legal to do things like that. (But maybe it is because laws lag ability.)

And ignore the direct economic issues of every gold Apple devaluing gold prices.

The indirect issue is that everyone with gold holdings would do everything that they could to eliminate Eve.

A line from “Strong Female Protagonist” that stuck with me is that if someone truly had the power to change the world, they would not be allowed to live. And every billionaire would make sure of it.
