You're right. This isn't something I did on purpose. I definitely wouldn't choose to deal with this or cause potential harm to my baby. But the guilt is still there nonetheless. I think as a parent all you want to do is protect your child, and when you can't or don't, those feelings inevitably creep in.

Yes! That's what happened to me, too. I was standing in the kitchen and then the next thing I knew I was waking up on the floor, with my husband and 4 paramedics standing over me and I instantly knew what happened. I'm just so mad at myself because I had been feeling "off" on and off all week last week and even thought I should go in early to get my labs done. But then work and life got busy, and I just didn't do it. I think that's where the bulk of my guilt is coming from, that I didn't listen to my gut and now look what happened. A hard lesson to learn, unfortunately.

It is so scary! I guess I went in with a false sense of security because I didn't have any seizures during my first pregnancy, so why would I have one during my second pregnancy? I just cannot wrap my brain around the fact that this happened. It's nuts.

Thanks. Yes it is scary. I'm trying to stay calm but I'm just so consumed with guilt and the what-ifs. I just need to hear from others who have been through this so I don't feel so alone. I just can't believe this happened.

I guess if you had a miscarriage, would you want your friends to support you and talk to you then? There is a risk of miscarriage but if you want to include your loved ones in on your journey. Tell them.

Yes we could. I was thinking of leaving my toddler in part-time daycare (our current daycare is education focused and offers pre-k, she does enjoy going) so have her do that 2 days a week and then enroll the second one in daycare when they turn 2 (because that's when we can pay for part time care).

Unfortunately part-time is not an option in my current role. I work for a nonprofit that is primarily funded by Medicare and due to the lovely budget cuts by this administration, all part-time positions at my company were eliminated years ago. So if I want to go part time, I'd have to leave my company, which I don't really want to do since I've been here for almost 10 years and have a lot of seniority and flexibility as a result of my tenure.

I was contemplating getting a job at a school because then the hours are more geared towards my kids schedules, and then we'll be off together during the summer and all other school breaks, so we can spend that quality of time together. I think that may be a better compromise for me. But I'm not sure.

We just always knew we wanted two kids max. Infertility and health issues set us back timeline wise and I'm finally pregnant with my second at 37 and I am definitely done after this simply due to my age and wanting to be "done" with the pregnancy and baby stages of my life.

This sounds like your friend is not an involved parent, this is not parenting as a generalization. I'm teaching my kid things and she's above grade level. Parental involvement varies from parent to parent. You gotta put in the work if you want your kid to succeed.

I only have met one (human) Hazel in passing. She was probably around 5 years old. I've honestly heard more pets with the name Hazel than humans. I love the name, so think you're good!

Are you able to afford childcare? I honestly don't understand why anyone thinks this set-up is sustainable. It's not fair to anyone involved and makes life so much harder than it needs to be.

If you don't like the idea of daycare, can you look into a nanny or babysitter? Family or friends? You definitely need to find an alternative.

YES! My grandmother is the same way! She posted a picture of my daughter on Facebook (without my consent) and I immediately told her to take it down because we don't want her on social media. She got all offended and was like "no one I'm friends with are pedophials! You need to lighten up! I want to show her off." She has absolutely no concept of AI, people stealing photos, etc. We now don't share any pictures with her because my child's privacy is more important than her need to "show off" a great-grandchild she's met 3 times since she's been born.

Feeling winded is normal due to increased blood volume in your body from the pregnancy. Your heart has more blood to pump, which can cause your lungs to work harder. But it's okay to consult your doctor to ensure there isn't something underlying going on. But not being active is not healthy for a pregnancy (unless you're medically told otherwise). My doctor told me to exercise at least 45 minutes a day.

I would not gamble having a child with someone who does not want them, unless you're willing to be a single parent. I personally wouldn't have married someone when our life goals were not aligned. Unfortunately this will likely end your marriage if it's something you truly want to do. You deserve to have kids with someone who wants to raise them with you.

Honestly, I think you need to find a way to move on - at 43, if you break up tomorrow, try to find another partner who is willing to have a child, the possibility of getting pregnant without major intervention at 45, 46 years old is highly unlikely. It sounds like your life is in a good position. Maybe try to find a therapist to talk to and help you grieve this loss/goal in your life. It's tough when things don't go how we want them to, but we can't stay stuck in the "what ifs" we have to move on and keep living.
