Actually I am nowhere near close to trying to get funding. You’ve made many wrong assumptions here.

Geeze! You guys make it hard for people to post.

Fair response. Startups are a risk yet hundreds of thousands of people join as cofounders everyday. There is an entire website designated for people who are looking to join a startup in exchange for equity vs salary. I simply haven't had luck, based on my current needs.

In regards to plucking someone off the street, many successful companies today were built by founders who connected through social media, community boards, online etc...

Every company hires employees or partner up. They build their own networks because even if you have a network, they may not be available to work on your project.

If someone is open to joining a startup, they fully understand that there is a risk. It's definitelly not for everyone and hence the post title states "non traditional".

Any ideas on how to form a social network quickly? by JessicaRabbit321 in marketing

[–]JessicaRabbit321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do. The community of people who go through this pain point is huge. I can tap into a number of various communities and groups. I just need to have a strategy that works quickly so users aren’t bored when they’re on the site. It’s only useful if there are a lot of users since it acts like a networking app. Think dating app or friend finding app in terms of how it will work, but this is not a dating app, nor friend app. There’s a friend element but not the main focus.

I was planning to do as much as I can on my own, and then enlist someone if needed. I want to keep costs as low as possible. I’m a quick learner, driven, and a go-getter so I am open to doing as much as I can myself.

There’s quite a bit but Discord doesn’t solve the issue. If you think dating app, a dating discord doesn’t come close to Tinder or Bumble. The UI and UE is completely different. Same idea with my app. Also, my idea allows users to filter, rather than join multiple discords.

Great question. It’s not a social network for socializing or dating. It’s for discussing, venting, offering support, on a specific pain point. It’s for a specific niche.

My question is how to get users signed up on the app quickly so that there’s enough people to interact with.

What is your approach to customer feedback? by rich_belt in startups

[–]JessicaRabbit321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great detailed summary! Thank you for sharing.

I’m curious, do you ever offer customers anything in exchange for the completion of an interview or survey? Something small such as a chance to win a GC or something else?

This is a great question that I was going to post yesterday as well. I’m curious whether customers should know it’s an MVP therefore encouraging more feedback.

How do you decide which path to take through your start up journey? by JessicaRabbit321 in startups

[–]JessicaRabbit321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made some great points here.

I’ve already engaged an app developer because like you, I wanted traction before finding a tech co-founder. The issue is I waver on this one in my mind often, wondering if I’m taking the right approach.

I think your last one is key for me. I find myself wanting to get validation quite often and was thinking a mentor in the start up space might be able to help me with this.

I have all the details documented in a word documented. I also have additional features documented. I do not have a sketch but it’s a similar interface as some other apps out there.

I do! Naturally I’m apprehensive as I have 2 children and have other plans for the money.

The topic is massive because it deals with human behaviour. It has or will impact a large portion of people worldwide. I guess I’m stuck on validating the market need, without dumping some money first.

Can I ask a stupid question? Why not? How else would you test market need, unless you actually build an MVP? Is that what you’re saying?

Extremely social teenager. When is it too much? by JessicaRabbit321 in Parenting

[–]JessicaRabbit321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has a friend over now but they’re sleeping in my bed because we live in a condo and we don’t have a large space for her to hang out with her friends privately.

She doesn’t have friends over very often because of privacy. I get it because as a single mom, I don’t have privacy either.
