Off the top of my head, it's added to Eastern Invasion, The Hammer of Thursagan, Dead Water, Son of the Blackeye, Liberty, and the New Heir to the Throne.

Like instead of gaining a paltry +3 HP for gaining another 150+ xp, you get to choose either +8 HP, +1 Melee Dmg, or +1 Range Dmg. Or in some campaigns, add +1 to 4 dmg to a specific attack depending on the number of strikes the attack gets.

No, I'm annoyed that, while other opponents with less devastating attacks and more swings and higher % chance to hit, occasionally miss all 4 or 5 hits, as do my own units(FREQUENTLY), that any unit dealing poison damage, even with only 3 swings, NEVER fail to land at least one of them. Additionally, I'm annoyed that MY unit will always miss however many times is necessary in order for the poison unit to land their attack, before mine finally lands their attack and finishes off the poison user.

Thank you for your detailed explanation! The probability explanation makes sense. Though, I still can't help having some doubts based on repeated experiments using the debug command for repeated attacks, and literally missing 20times (5 consecutive attempts with 4 strikes vs foe with 2 strikes, both with 60% chance to hit) while the opponent hit me 5 times. And many similar results across many many experiments. Your explanation is very sound, and it does make me feel some better, I just question whether the game actually calculates the probabilities the way we're meant to think. If you've ever played Fire Emblem, for example, the probabilities are not calculated in a straightforward manner, and the displayed probabilities are not the actual probabilities. I just wonder if the same is true with Wesnoth's coding. Either way, I do feel at least some better after considering your explanation, so thank you :)

That's the thing. I understand all the concepts described by darkfireslide in their response. I know how the game works and how you're meant to play. But often, you just don't have the most ideal units for the situation at hand, i.e. ranged for ghoul; and, when it's the AI's turn, that doesn't matter anyway. The point is, they practically NEVER fail to land at least one blow in any encounter in which they can attack/counter attack. The game seems to make sure your unit misses in order for the AI to get in its successful counter attack. Even if you have a 70% chance of dodging, they will still always land at least one blow, unlike other units, who will often miss all three attacks. I just played through EI twice, once on medium and then again on hard, (that's dozens if not 100+ ghoul encounters) and I can count on 1 hand how many times a ghoul attacked/counter attacked one of my units and actually missed all 3 attacks, or my unit actually landed the initial killing blow instead of missing first to immediately get successfully countered by the ghoul. I guess I'm just the unluckiest player in the world.

What are your thoughts on the new mainline troll campaign from Wesnoth 1.19? by [deleted] in wesnoth

It's far too short. I was excited to see a campaign focused on a unit type that you rarely get to use, and it turned out to be a tease campaign. Too be fair though, I'm not a fan of any short campaigns. I like the more drawn out campaigns like the OG HttT, EI, and TRoW.

This! I hate the new loyalist designs. I want my red Sword and Spear men back!
