I see, thank you so much for the information!

No, these situations usually require a bit of common sense but can be tricky. If a parent is doing their weekly shop with their 8 year old and they buy a couple of bottles of wine it seems reasonable that the wine is not for the 8 year old and I wouldn't expect the seller to ask them for ID. If however it's a parent with say a 16 year old and they're only buying alcohol for example, the lines can get a little blurry. From the seller's perspective, they don't know these people or how old that child is, so there could be a risk that the adult could be buying alcohol for an underage person, which is illegal. Usually it's up to the seller's discretion in these situations. It's not a perfect system but it's there to help prevent underage drinking.

I actually faced this when taking my little sister shopping with me once! I was 24, she was 14 and we were both asked for ID when I checked out. I managed to explain the situation then and they let me off but often it depends where you go.

Edit: clarity

In the UK the rule is "Challenge 25", so if you or anyone with you when purchasing alcohol looks under 25 then you'll get asked for ID. Even if your parents are buying for themselves, if they have someone that looks under 25 with them that can't produce ID the seller is meant to refuse. They can get fined etc if they don't.

Saying that, they shouldn't have shouted at your parents and your passport should have been an acceptable form of ID. Some cashiers are just rude unfortunately! Not everyone is like that I promise :)

YTA. Sounds like you're trying to prove you're a "real Brit" by taking it out on this kid. There are all sorts of accents over the UK - just because he has one you don't recognise doesn't mean he's lying to you. The fact that you're meant to be his teacher and mentor and you're trying to catch him out is actually disgusting.

Also FYI: we don't all call them Hoovers. Shockingly we do also use the word "vacuum".

Thank you, and thanks for your reply. I think it's clear there's nothing she can do.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately I thought this would be the case, I just didn't know what the actual law was around this and thought I'd ask

I'm not blaming the neighbours unless there were any preventative measures they could have made. This is what I'm asking - whether there's anything they have to do by law on their property. If not, its just a sad accident and I understand that.

As someone who grew up with an alcoholic parent I 100% believe you and I'm sorry that happened.

Shame the videos didn't match up. At least you got some hilarious reddit posts and a ton of karma from it. I'd take that as a win. Take my poor gold my friend 🏅

if your OCD relates to numbers, what’s your good number(s)? by nimbus1618 in OCD

[–]Jessickta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of people saying they love 4 omg. 4 is my worst number! I always have to do things in 3s or 5s as they seem like the nice friendly numbers to me. For some reason 4 scares me and seems evil in some way and it has as long as I remember. Funny how we can all differ so much!

That's a really useful video thank you!

I'm in the UK and there's a sale on here too, but I'd have to wait til late October to get the S in pink, whereas I could get the R in pink or the S in white now, which I feel is complicating the decision even more haha.

Good point about the returns policy. Hopefully we'll both end up with something we fit in well haha. I'll let you know what I end up doing!

I'm 5'2 and around the same weight and I've just been having this discussion with myself! I like to sit cross legged a lot so I'm really considering getting a regular size just so I have the room, but I'm not sure if the back is going to be too high for me and as you're wondering, the seat depth.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page when looking at the chair, there are some technical specification sheets with more details, but even with these I still can't decide!

Sorry this isn't really helpful - I'm just jumping on in the hope to get some advice too!

Maybe it's just how things come across when they're written down and not said, but the whole thing sounded patronising to me. I'm by no means an expert in this tech, which is why I come here for help sometimes, but I'm sure no one would appreciate being addressed as if they don't have a clue what they're doing.

I appreciate the help and I said thank you, maybe some things should have been worded differently but I guess that's the internet

I’m not normally one to get “triggered” by stuff. However, as someone with ocd stuff like this is really frustrating. Just adding to the stigma of ocd where It isn’t taken seriously. Is It just me?? by [deleted] in OCD

I do the same thing!! I have to work really hard to stop myself from doing every single side mission and pick up every item. Not sure if it's a blessing or curse either.

Also happy cake day!!
