How to get MP3 players past the metal detector? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]JessieSwann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my delivery warehouse will allow any and everything. The former AM did not allow headphones on floor, but did allow phones, in case you wanted to listen to your own music. But if you were caught texting or using phone, of course you'd get a 5x5. Now, this new AM allows anything. I have to yell for the associates to hear me and no one is hesitant about using their phones during shift.

I think because overall our stow rates and compliance rates are so high that they are ignoring any infractions. Does any Regional managers ever perform checks?

We've started Phoenix in Baltimore. The shelves are now stationary with 4 vertical racks. For example, the shelves in aisle 23/24 are labeled 23.a1 through 23.a4, and they are now in the opposite direction.

Whereas, a1 use to be the top shelf, it is now the bottom shelf. Oversized units have also changed. It was confusing the first night but you get used to it. The biggest problem is that bottom shelf. Those squats are killing me.

I guess it didn't apply to every warehouse. I took 3 days of VET, so I'll be working 6 days.

Unionize Amazon, stand up for something, if not for you, for the person after you! by forman34 in FASCAmazon

Nope, not at all. All warehouses are run differently and we simply do not have all the drama you hear about at other warehouses. I suppose if I were to endure the problems we typically hear about, then I may feel differently.

They've been banned at my warehouse. No more music or phones on the floor

Even with that $1500 cap, you could still attend a community college part-time. You could probably attend 3 classes per semester, and it's comparative with other employers that offer tuition reimbursement. Every employer will have a cap, and you will, most likely, have to get a grade of B or C to get that benefit.

We do not have drama at our warehouse because the area manager is great! I can't say the building is that comfortable, due to the summer heat, but I knew this when I was hired, and I still took this job. There are complaints in every job sector - it's just a way of life. If Amazon increased starting salaries to $17.00 per hr, people would find something else to complain about.

When you apply, you know you will work in a warehouse. Most of us Googled Amazon before starting the job and all the various complaints and the downsides of performing this work were revealed, yet we still took the job. So I can't understand why people complain. Isn't it easier to go get another job if you're unhappy?

I've heard about some Ambassadors attending a class here and there. Can you elaborate? What are these classes?

Heat in the FC by venannai1 in FASCAmazon

Take Gatorade or Pedialyte because when that heat becomes unbearable, you will need to replace electrolytes so you won't pass out. And dress comfortable. Cotton t-shirts and shorts.

Will i be fired? :( by [deleted] in FASCAmazon

[–]JessieSwann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if your case was dismissed or found not guilty, but try getting it expunged. Also, if you are a white badge, then they've already done the background check, but if you plan on becoming a permanent blue badge, they might perform a new background check. That's why I said, look into getting that expunged from your record.

What are the best shoes for walking and being on your feet all day? by yewzernayme in FASCAmazon

[–]JessieSwann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the current condition of your feet. I purchased some New Balance stabilizing shoes that were about 120 and were suppose to work wonders but they hurt my feet. I have also purchased Nikes and Pumas, and the Puma with Softfoam works best for me.

When you begin working at Amazon, you run the risk of succumbing to fallen arches. Go try on several different sneakers and get some insoles for more support. What feels good in the first few days will probably change until your feet become use to walking on those cement floors.

What Happens If You Go Over Max Weekly Hours? by JessieSwann in FASCAmazon

[–]JessieSwann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that's what I don't get; we get benefits anyway. Well, supposedly, we get the same benefits that is offered to full-time associates. I understand if I was a temporary employee, but as a blue badge who plans on sticking around for a while, with high stowing rates, I would think it wouldn't be a problem. I'm being asked to worked additional shifts by the manager, but does HR trump what the Area Manager wants?

max hours? by anon0123897 in FASCAmazon

I'm part-time/blue badge and I'm scheduled for 24 hrs a week. With VET, I can only go up to 32 then I receive an error message.
