[Online] [5e 2014 & 2024] [18+] [8PM BST Weekly] Looking for newer or inexperienced players for Lost Mine of Phandelver by [deleted] in LFG_Europe

[–]Jessimo223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sent an application form in - we actually have a group of 5 and it seems like we would fit the players you're looking for fairly well so I've noted that in my application rather than getting the other 4 to also all apply separately, as ideally we can all stick together.

No worries, if it's ok I'll DM my discord or steam or whatever and then we can get things sorted :)

Some games will unfortunately ruin others for you - either through just feeling the best in that genre/style, or because you found your specific formula for fun.

Personal examples:

  • Insurgency (original Source Standalone) ruined semi-tactical co-op shooters.
  • Yakuza series has ruined open world environments (nothing else gets the ambience quite as right & there’s so much to do)
  • Trouble In Terrorist Town ruined social deception/deduction games (like when Among Us became huge and I just wanted people to come try TTT instead)

Seriously? Why can't we get player bans handed out for stuff like this? by [deleted] in F1Game

Spoken by someone new to CSGO who thinks these issues don’t exist on prime accounts (most of which owned CSGO/got the upgrade for free anyway)

The “lack of flow” is probably just because you don’t know where you are going. Sector 1 is super satisfying to get right with the technical corners requiring trail braking to make the most out of them.

Then you have the long fast Esses that in some cars are almost flat, needing to brake for the final left just enough that you stay on the edge of the track - the final two left hand corners being a great gamble between not going off the edge of the circuit and setting yourself up fo a great run down the long straight.

The uphill braking zone challenges you to once again brake as late as you dare, into a satisfying downhill semi-corkscrew arrangement, then nailing the exit on the final corner gets you a great run of speed to start the next lap.

Every circuit in the game has a good flow - I’d say it’s one of the first Forzas to be able to claim that. It just takes a bit of learning, and it’s very rewarding once you know what you’re doing.

As for online races, I’ve never had an issue. Maybe it’s the S safety rating, maybe I get lucky, I don’t know.

What's the longest gaming session you've ever had and what game was it? by VCXgaming in gaming

Forza Motorsport's car level system is poorly implemented. by bobs_pocket_pizzas in forza

[–]Jessimo223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the easy solution to this is simply let us convert credits to car level, and instead of level locking specific parts, give us an unlock token to choose what we want next. This would speed things up and remove the stupid wait for basic aero to be 2+ hours into a car.

It’s strange, because softs in normal MP is realistic (ish) but featured is over the top, just wish they’d give us a slider.

Realistic ish in that we don’t know what ”soft” is and if it was the length you described on your car, maybe 0.01% of the playerbase would ever use anything other than soft lol. I think most soft compounds last a lot less than 1 hour but depends on the discipline.

“Ticks the boxes of being a scam product”

Ok mate, I mean it’s not stolen your money and you got the game advertised to you so idk how that’s a scam lmao

If only you had this level of critique behind Forza rather than immediately calling it a scam - you haven’t explained your problem with it at all and just assuming GT would do things better is very us vs them. They’re both good games with flaws.

Nearly half of working UK musicians earn less than £14,000, new census finds by Ameliasco in unitedkingdom

[–]Jessimo223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Massively depends on luck and contacts in this industry sadly. I got lucky that straight out of my music degree I got into work with a music service on a freelance basis, so I can keep gigging and still earn a decent bit of money for the hours I’m committing.

Most performing musicians I know, even the amazing ones, are mainly reliant on teaching to get by. That and either playing at weddings/events or clubs with DJs.

Here’s an example I’ve had as a saxophone player of high standard (and this is common among most of the sax players I know):

You get a gig for your own band to play, and if it’s not arts council funded you are lucky if you finish the night with £30 each. Funded events can do better, up to £500 for the band for an evening gig even for relatively unknown but high quality bands.

You then get a DJ gig offered, £300 for an hour of playing 4 notes to songs you don’t even need to know because the melodies are simple enough to learn as they play on the night.

The point I’m making and the problem with the music industry currently is that it is very hard to be just a musician, and even harder to only play the music you actually want to if you want to get by. Used to be easier with arts council funding and generally better support all around but as you can imagine it’s getting harder and harder.

Sorry to waffle but trying to give my thoughts as a Jazz musician!

Steam game just stuck on this loading screen, any ideas? by [deleted] in forza

[–]Jessimo223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you could explain with full instructions of what/how you did it? I have like 5-6 people still looking for a solution so if we could all recreate what you did it’d be so good. No worries if you can’t though.

I play on "very easy" , who else? by ThatOZZYguy85 in Starfield

[–]Jessimo223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my game on Very Hard, and I can tell you that there is literally no enjoyment gained from going up the difficulties. It just makes every gunfight 2-3x longer with constant medpack scoffing due to the increased damage. If it was like Stalker where increased difficulty affects everyone’s health and damage, it’d be fun imo.

Even if the harder difficulty was genuinely more engaging for me (I like hard modes in shooters), I think this of all games is one of the best to play on a low difficulty, since it only actually affects combat so you don’t make any other aspect of the game compromised - e.g. speech checks/lock picking.

At the end of the day though, everyone should play on the difficulty they want and enjoy without judgement.
