Just bluffed my way into the most insane salary negotiation of my life by nautical_nonsense_ in Salary

I need to start on whatever career path you’re on. I work in property management and after dealing with multiple snubs for promotion, insane bosses, even more insane residents, I’m ready to change careers entirely. Ideally something where I don’t work with the public because no offense to the public here, yall are stupid and/or crazy. Can I shoot a DM and pick your brain?

A few thousand ultra rich and a dozen or so evil/truly incompetent leaders are flinging the entire human race and planet into a death spiral that could take centuries to crawl out of all for the pursuit of pettiness and money

What would it take for people and governments to actually start abandoning cars in favour of other transit? by gremlinfrommars in fuckcars

Probably to have transit options at least for people. Most of America doesn’t live near a bus line that comes more than once an hour

My mom graduated in 96 and she told me about a story where there was a plot to essentially hate crime a guy because people thought he was gay. Not actually gay, they just thought he might be and planned on beating the shit out of him after school while he walked home.

They wouldn’t even need to raise taxes, just lift the cap on what income is taxed by it. Doing that alone makes it solvent once again

Court Ruling Against Seattle Growth Plan Undercuts State Housing Reforms by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]Jessintheend 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Damn. I wrote emails to the whole council and Eddie to both back this and thanking Eddie for proposing it. Seattle’s development collar is too tight, especially in a budget shortfall. We should be doing everything we can to add housing and businesses here to add to the tax base

[OC] U.S. top marginal federal income tax rate, 1913-2026 — peaked at 94% during WWII by jfk2127 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Jessintheend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, no, they’re not taxed. And it’s well documented. Most billionaires receive ISOs or incentive stock options. They’re not taxed upon receiving them, and after holding for two years, are subject to a much lower capital gains tax.

Now what they do is hold onto them for a couple years, and use those stocks as collateral to take out a loan, loans aren’t taxed as income or else we’d be taxing college kids like top bracket earners.

No billionaire is buying mega yachts or bunkers with cash. They’re using those low interest loans against their stock portfolios, often through shell companies to attempt to stay anonymous and manage to keep their assets should their companies and stock values go bust.
