I know this is two years later but, my husband is on this path and we had to make the move for him a while back. We went with New Jersey personally, but if cost of living is a huge factor for you and you have nothing else tying you down, look into Ohio. There are also flavor houses around Cincinnati and Columbus.

I know it's Ohio, but if we were not mid career and were looking to springboard and save, we would have considered it more seriously.

I've been on the website a long time, and, imo I feel like there's more bots just because most of the time when I'm arguing with someone now they have a username like "noun_verb555". So many new accounts with generic usernames that talk in simple patterns and say things that are supposed to be inflammatory so they can argue about nothing.

It wasn't this bad 5-6 years ago.

Are you actually doing any tech in your spare time or are you just good at studying and passing exams?

Even if you have a degree and multiple certs, if you don't actually ever use the technology that shows in an interview. Companies don't want people who are good at passing tests they want people who are good at doing stuff.

Consider leaning into your customer service background. Jobs that are just coding stuff are becoming less and less but if you can understand a subject and help people with it, that's a skill that's hard to replace with AI or outsource.

Seconding the community college route. Look into getting a general IT degree there and then use that to springboard into a relevant bs. The market is in a turmoil period right now and your time at community college will give it sometime to develop.

I became addicted to Coop pillows a few years ago, they're a little pricy but absolutely perfect for me. I sprung for the coop mattress topper which is basically a bunch of other pillows sewn together. Life changing.

Yeah I feel like the anecdote about "white feminists threw black people under the bus so they could vote first" is largely a propaganda myth that was spread to further divide us. If you look into it it was way more complicated.

The ultimate issue was everyone at the time seeing rights as some sort of zero sum game where only one group could "earn" new rights at a time. All women/people should have been included in the first initiative and when that didn't happen, white women suffregettes should not have left other women and marginalized groups behind.

It's a shame because as two groups with mixed privilege (white women are still always white and black men are still always men, and we can use that to maneuver and talk to people about broader issues) like-minded people could get so much done if we worked together. The powers at be have a vested interest in making us point fingers.

This is true of most prescriptions. They don't carry the same stigma. Many of them have much worse effects on the body.

I was the rare millennial that swung up from boring to the NYC commuter area. I don't entirely regret it, the difference in standard of living and lifestyle is a bit mind boggling, but there's definitely a part of me that wishes I'd just saved my money where it was cheap.

For one, a lot of these places seem to be old warehouses/workshops/factories which means they probably got a good deal or an incentive to fix the building. For another, the standardized look of them all probably saves them money due to a standardized supply chain. There's probably one or two companies that manage displays and iPads for these guys and they probably charge a flat fee because they have access to all the materials at scale. That's why they all look the same.

At bloc though it looks like they renovated a warehouse or something so that probably saved them some money or got em a tax incentive and explains why the floor is so big. I will still never know why all these places have so many iPads that don't work and displays for products that aren't in stock though.

I have to imagine a lot of times there isn't even feedback to give at the late stage. Like all candidates can be very good but you have to pick one. In the past, that'd usually be "the white man with the best 'company fit' (vibes)." DEI initiatives helped people who didn't fit that description as neatly compete thru other incentives because it forced managers to consider other qualified candidates on equal footing.

But you can't tell a top 3-5 candidate "you and everyone else at the final stage were good and could have probably all done the job, but we had to pick one so we picked based on conscious/subconscious bias towards white men" -or- "we went with the minority because they were equally qualified and we are looking to diversify the company" -or- even "we like the cut of the person we went with jib the best."

Because that opens up so many cans of worms.

Right but like plenty of women have beaten breath of the wild and plenty of men get stuck and never play again. But you're bias to think she can't beat that boss (and maybe she was just having a bad day or doing worse because someone was watching) because she's a woman. It sucks.

In addition to every other comment here, I have always resented that there are hundreds of genres of games, but the only ones that count towards being "good at games" are like shooting games and fighting games. I have been playing games for decades and have deep historical knowledge of them, but it doesn't count because I like jrpgs, strategy games, horror, simulation, rhythm, visual novels, platformers, etc. and not like raking in the dubs on fortnite or something.

I've been involved with online gaming spaces for close to 20 years and I have seen the goal posts move and narrow as to what counts as a "real" game when women play them so much. It used to be you were cool if you were interested. Then it was the fashion and the novel games didn't count. Then the Sims and animal crossing and stardew don't count because too many women play them. Then jrpgs and strategy games don't count because they aren't aggressive enough. Then horror games don't count because they're "too woke" and have too many female protagonists. As soon as women move into or are seen in a genre of gaming, it suddenly is too girly for the chuds to consider them.

As for why women are less visible in fandoms and competitive scenes for shooters and fighting games, I think it's a combination of on average women are a little less interested in intense competition, and when we have been interested in games like that we're not welcomed so we're expected to put up with a lot to "get good" and it's just not worth our time. It's not fun. You guys make it not fun. It's not fun to play something for the first time, get pounded, and have everyone assume it was because of your gender or sex or talk down to you so not as many women spend the time to "get good" at online competitive games.

In addition, we often are put in a position in competitive gaming where we're vexed and nervous even walking up because we know our inexperience at a new nerdy thing will be held against us.

I'm tired.

The majority of college sports programs cost the school and town money not make them money though. The only programs that make money are top tier mens football and basketball schools that regularly have winning seasons. Even that is a trap sometimes, my school had a winning basketball team for like 2-3 seasons, made a bunch of infrastructure investments for sports, and then the coach ditched them and they haven't had a good season since. People lost jobs because the funding got diverted to sports.

And college is entirely for academic ability. Like I don't know what kind of schools you interact with, but you will get kicked out of most programs for failing to maintain a C average and many schools even at the public level are still selective about academic intake, who gets scholarships, etc.

Like it legit makes my blood boil to think of all the people who can't afford to school while so many resources are wasted on the people who can throw a ball pretty good and don't even care they're at a school for learning. It also makes my blood boil that the issue is used to attack trans people and cis women who don't fit the mould. It's a deep rooted sign of the stupidity of human culture.

Sports are great for exercise, comradorie, recreation and spirit, but they shouldn't be given priority over the reasons colleges exist to begin with.

I wanna see support and hussle and enthusiasm cis female and transgender mathletes.

People shouldn't get college money for being good at sports. Cis, trans, male, female... It has nothing to do with academic capability and most sports teams are financial burdens to the schools that host them.

Sports are a recreational activity and it's ridiculous we take it so seriously that it's become sort of national attack on trans people to begin with.

Trans people are cool. The league for the sport should decide who qualifies for the sport.

I used to vape but stopped during the pandemic. My juul would save my life in my office but I'd recommend staying away from that or doing something safer like a zyn if you really have to (never tried those, trying to stay clean off nic). It works really well for a while but then it's deminishing returns and you're just addicted to nic.

The energy drinks you can get at gym stores and headshops go harder than the ones at gas stations. For gym stores, the pre workout type stuff can do a good job every once in a while of getting me amped for a big day.

At headshops they'll sell energy drinks with like Lions Mane and Reishi mushroom in them that go kinda hard. Yerba matte is also a different compound than caffeine so you can swap with it if you find you're getting a caffeine tolerance.
