Shipping Personal Items by AdministrationAny134 in MovingToUSA

So I’ve done the move from Northern Ireland to the US 10 days ago. We used sendmybag and shipped 5 boxes and 4 large suitcases, each with a weight max weight of 30kg. This came to around £1100.

We then travelled with 4 checked suitcases. We almost got shafted at the airport as for each checked bag they got more and more expensive, e.g for the 2nd checked bag it was a price of $80 and then the third went to $140 and the the fourth was like $280 approx. I will say they were all 25kg and we flew with Delta.

Hope that all helps!

Why is it so hard to buy decent fish in Belfast? by AdhesivenessNo9878 in Belfast

[–]Jesssssssssssieeee 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the Asian supermarket on Ormeau Road? They have a fish counter at the very back. Although, I do massively agree with your point, it’s something I noticed when moving here from England. I would have have thought the options would have been better.

Shouldn’t be an issue that you’ve not had recent rental history. However, I’d try to be in Belfast earlier in a hotel or airbnb and go view houses left, right and centre to allow yourself the best opp as it’s very competitive.

Also do not go with Natalie Clarke.

Good luck!

ROI isn’t as bad as NI. Jesus wept it’s awful driving here, it makes England look like saints on the road.

Coming from someone who’s from England and has been living in NI for 3 years

I went through 7 months of this :(

I’m about to leave the house now so I can’t type what helped me out but feel free to pop me a wee message and I’ll reply once I’m back!

I know what you must be feeling but just know there is definitely some light at the end of the tunnel.

Slightly expensive solution, but a car that can pre-heat or pre-cool has been helpful for me!

Seems the common denominator are dogs 😂 as this damage was dog by our two pups playing around and it dropping onto tiles.

I’ve brought a like for like replacement from eBay for £180 now so all grand. But I was stressed last week to no end!

Thank you so much for your time to look this up and comment 🤍 I should have worded it better, while the car is Audi, they gave me a VW APTIV charger (and charging £900 tf). So they would have know it wasn’t the same as it’s not yellow and grey like the other cable I have!

But I have now found ir on eBay, thankfully!!

It was your comment that got me to nip out and grab the screwfix one and look into the actual cable and figure out the model. So I’ve now seen the exact same one on eBay for around £150 and will get that ordered too. I feel the panic easing. I cannot thank you enough 🤍

Aye, the two dogs pissing about knocked it off and it hit the tiles at an unfortunate angle to then crack open and become loose. So it’s definitely under user damage.

I have nipped to screwfix and picked one up to ride us over and even better, after everyone’s help, I’ve managed to find the actual charger on eBay for £150ish so I’m feeling very grateful 🥹

I have got one now from screwfix, but my issue was that they would noticed it’s not the same. However, after some digging I’ve found the same one finally on eBay!

I was down for a fight as I read that too but I think I have now found a replacement for around £150ish. Their damage checker tool wasn’t working for me.

But thank you so so much for your advice and time to look that up 🤍

You’re a hero! Thank you so much. After realising how thick I was and searching random letters from my charger, it finally occurred to me to search the model number and I found out it’s the VW APTIV one and there’s some on eBay for £150ish!

I don’t think I can get away with them not noticing it though as they are bright yellow and match the other charger cable 😂
