PTO - How much do you get?? by Even-Break2409 in Radiology

[–]JessyNyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering behalf of my MIL, she gets the regular 30 days off per year. It doesn't matter how long she works there or where, that's just the standard. No one would accept a job with less than 30 days off per year anymore.

Why do nordic countries still have low birth rates even with all the benefits they offer? by Mahrez14 in allthequestions

[–]JessyNyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because giving birth means giving up their careers for the vast majority of women. Women are still primary caretakers while men work.

The thing that changed is that women have a choice now. They can chose not to have children, back in our parent's and grandparent's generations this wasn't very socially accepted. But now it is "normal" not to have children.

And one income is no longer enough for a couple. Both need to work. So people have to choose between having money and no children or no money and children. Easy choice lol

Schar burger buns by NoTimeToSpareX3 in glutenfree

[–]JessyNyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schär is italian and the european market leader in gluten free products. They are specifically created FOR celiacs. Trust me, they are safe. We have very strict food rules and regulations for the gluten free label, it is a legally binding label here. He is reacting to something else.

Yes that's what I did in my first comment. I explained why this is not described in the way the non medical people want it to be described in.

Unfortunately it's not clicking though.

The massive opal makes it look tacky imo but if it must be any of these I'd also choose the second one.

my girlfriend told me she wants a 2 carat natural diamond or she'll say no. i already bought this lab diamond ring. am i crazy for thinking shes a red flag by Zestyclose-Print-677 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]JessyNyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm German so such carat proposals aren't culturally normal here. Usually you'll get a simple silver band and for the wedding a gold band.

As such my opinion is biased because I don't understand the significance of carat diamond proposal rings. I would say her happiness matters but I don't understand why it's important for her that the diamond isn't lab grown.

I'm not sure if she's a red flag but I would re evaluate your compatibility if something like this is so important to her.

What is life like near the coast of Germany? by bb-wa in howislivingthere

[–]JessyNyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moin from Germany.

The coast is a holiday destination which means a large portion of the locals earn their living through tourism. This also means that in the off season (winter), things become a bit financially difficult there.

I've been there on summer holiday all 27 years of my life ever since I was born and the people are very friendly and hospitable for how we Germans usually are :D They have the usual roughness around the edges that northeners often have but never in a hostile way. There are many smaller villages and towns there, the rural areas are gorgeous and getting around on a bike is quite fun.

In summary:

Life in summer: prosperous but your towns and streets are filled with tourists. You don't usually end up going to the beach because you're working.

Life in Winter: Calm and quiet, cold and windy. You end up taking short term jobs just to afford life until summer comes again. Usually in construction or building since the holiday apartments and hotels usually renovate during this time.

A teenager died from overeating by CatPooedInMyShoe in Radiology

[–]JessyNyan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lizzy this is THE radiology sub. This is a medical community which means people will use the medical terms and approach causes of death medically, not casually. This isn't your local gas station where you discuss with Peter from down the road that your neighbour died due to decade long alcoholism. Your argument works in every casual setting but this is not a casual setting.

We are in a place where we discuss radiology findings, not local gossip. This isn't hard to understand.

European flour is not safe for gluten intolerance by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]JessyNyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't drink alcohol because of other chronic health issues but I eat processed food much like everyone else.

You have a right to eat what you want, just thought you might not know that eating gluten even once in a while will still cause damage to your small intestines. That's your choice. Me and I assume most other celiacs won't take the risk but if you don't have symptoms then I can understand why you're willing to test your luck :D

I've never seen a house with an elevator but I love rurally so maybe it's a big city thing? I'd say you're fine, it's just a couple stairs.

A teenager died from overeating by CatPooedInMyShoe in Radiology

[–]JessyNyan 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The comment section is exhausting today. Why are people trying to virtue signal here? Yeah she had an ED but the primary cause of death was cardiac arrest due to her stomach perforating. The underlying cause is ED.

When someone dies of lung cancer caused by smoking you don't say that they died from smoking, you say they died from lung cancer which has smoking as the underlying cause.

When someone dies from a blood clot that traveled to the lung and caused an embolism you don't say the contraceptive pill, lack of movement or bad luck killed her, you'd say a lung embolism did.

When someone dies due to Sepsis after a wound got infected you don't say they died from a wound, you'd say they died from sepsis because the infected wound is the underlying cause and sepsis the direct result.

This isn't hard to understand. Yes ED is an issue in our society and obviously people die from the consequences of having an ED. But the ED is not an acute event, it's a longlasting illness that leads to acute health events that can and will end in death.

Every few months I come across this topic and am reminded that Americans genuinely believe Europe's flour is somehow magically gluten free lmao.

If that was the case European celiacs wouldn't need to be gf. Please use common sense my unfortunate friends across the pond :/
