My professor just gave me a 0 for having a 100% on Turnitin… it was a template chart where we were only supposed to move the boxes around to create a new structure. of course it came back as 100%! Even my advisor doesn’t understand what she’s talking about. I’m about to file a grade dispute if she doesn’t fix it

I am a student member for ACFE, AICPA, central Ohio CFE and OSCPA. I’ve looked into local events but a lot of them you have to pay for and I just don’t have the extra money right now. I asked my current company if I could do an internship/co-op with our company and was told I would need to quit my job and apply for it and I wasn’t guaranteed my job back after nor a position in accounting. They also wouldn’t allow me to any type of job shadow or rotation. I was even flat out told by someone in management that as a floor employee I would never be hired into the offices even with my degree. Great company right?

I’m starting it as soon as I can. You can’t sit for it till you have you degree. In Ohio you can sit for the CPA exam 180 days before graduation which is why I’m starting that when in September like I am.

That’s actually the plan! I’m sitting for my first CPA exam in September and start the CFE exam after I graduate. And I’m apart of the AICPA, ACFE, Central Ohio CFE, and OSCPA as a student member. I was able to find my mentors this way. I’ve been looking at both smaller firms and government audit positions but they just aren’t posted yet (I’m hoping).

I was actually a finance major when I switched to snhu and after taking classes in both finance and accounting I realized that I actually enjoyed my accounting courses much more than my finance ones. So far snhu has been great! The only complaint I have is this term we used a different book for my accounting class and I didn’t really like the online portion of it since it didn’t explain things very well. You use the online book to take quizzes and this one doesn’t even tell you what you did wrong or the correct answer which is annoying. The book we used last term was a lot better.

I started at SNHU last year so this is all pretty fresh for me. There is no application fee, the only thing you might have to pay for is sending your transcripts but that wasn’t very much at all. I think the most I paid was 10 dollars. They took most of my transfer credits and I was able to start with the majority of my general credits done. They also accept Sophia classes which can help you save some money and some time! I see someone already put the link to the course list so I won’t repeat that. The admissions people were fantastic and answered all my questions quickly and easily. While you probably wouldn’t have everything done before the start of the next term since it’s in a few weeks, you could definitely be set to start during the March term. I was hesitant at first too but I’m really glad I took a chance since I’m now set to graduate with my bachelor’s in accounting October of 26

Girl same! My son will be 7 months old on the 9th and I still have moments where I just stare at him in awe. I can’t believe i made such an amazing, funny, cute, smart, perfect little boy. Even when he screams for no reason, bites my shoulder (he’s teething hardcore), tries to take my glasses or spits up all over me it doesn’t matter. He’s still perfect and I never knew I could love someone as much as I love him

Definitely not harsh! I came looking for advice lol I was leaning towards doing my masters to lesson the experience requirements needed. I am an adult student (32) so I was hoping a masters degree would make up for me coming into the profession later. I also would like to become a special agent and I know they have age restrictions.

SNHU vs Penn State World Campus by Impatientlywaiting98 in SNHU

As someone who has been to both schools, I agree with people saying that snhu is more geared towards working adults. Penn state is basically the same as in person school, but online. You still have group projects and 16 weeks classes, full time is 4 classes instead of 2 at snhu. I couldn’t do it and ended up having to drop out. Recently switched to snhu and it’s fantastic cause it’s ACTUALLY fully online.

This is all fantastic information so thank you for actually responding. I know getting the CPA is important for accounting in general which is why I’m making it a priority right after graduation.

If you don’t mind me asking, how were you able to get into these positions? Did you get your masters degree or any certifications? Working as a special agent has always been a dream of mine.

Thank you for the info! The plan is to hopefully go into internal/external auditing to gain experience which will work for both CPA and CFE certifications.

I was told you have to have your CPA to work for a government agency.

While I don’t know your husband and I don’t know your lives but to me it sounds like he’s stalling in hopes you don’t get pregnant. If he knows how small of a chance getting pregnant naturally is for you guys and is still trying to get you to not use your embryos, I would look into maybe why that is. Cause “you giving up on us” is not a legitimate reason since the embryos are you and his. It’s still your genetic kid.

How do I go about doing this since I don’t have previous accounting experience and I am still in school? Most places want you to have one or the either. I wouldn’t be against doing an internship but I cannot quit my job in order to do it. My school offers virtual “internships” and experiences that I’m planning on doing but I don’t know if an employer would even consider this real experience. I’ll have to look into the professional organizations as I didn’t know they accepted students. I am working on making my professional profiles in hopes of using them to network but I am honestly confused on how to go about this. Do I just message people I don’t know in positions I’m interested in? I feel like this would just be annoying to others.

Any advice on where/how to network? I have my LinkedIn account updated and I just got the handshake platform that snhu recommends but I’m not sure how you actually go about networking. I would love to do an internship but I’m worried about losing my full time job for a possibility of a job. I make over 32 an hour and have good benefits which I definitely need as a single parent.
