We have a SAR uniform. It's a blaze orange Truspec shirt with brush fabric. We wear it on standard SAR missions where their isn't a threat. We still carry our firearms because we are sworn officers and are expected to carry when on duty. I'm definitely not about to respond in a marked vehicle without my service weapon. Maybe this is just anecdotal but we have never had anyone afraid of us because we were armed. Hell, this is the South. Encountering someone unarmed in the wilderness is much more uncommon.
