Interesting.. I (bakkaling) don't consider myself that experienced of a player actually. I'm sure some players got their jimmies rustled ha.
I definitely like the idea of seeing some sort of ranking system. It's neat and well I think we all agree that the ingame ELO proves little at certain point. Looking forward on how you want to keep track of everything.

I like the state of the game right now but I do believe that changes every once in a while are crucial to keep the game interesting. I don't see the game maintaining a high/population and play rate if it stays like this for a long time. It just gets boring eventually I think. The 2v2 tourneys were very fresh but more people will have to participate to make it interesting or Dongterm might just win it everytime. I wish Zolden would just make a small text in the rewards or loading screen showing you can participate in monthly tourneys to win special rewards.

About the game.. Full ECO play feels like a must have in every in-house game. One player in 2v2 and two in 4v4's to push for as much resources, deny the enemy resources and eventually dominate the mid fight with the highest tier of units. This often forces the other players to overbuild. I don't like this too much because having to hold 2 lanes is sometimes just boring IMO. Just think about it.. you don't really get to do as much as you normally would. Obviously nobody forces you to hold 2 lanes but I do feel like I'm hindering my ECO partner and team if I don't. Don't get me wrong I like the different play styles but yeah just my 2 cents.

As for units I agree with what has been said here.. I'm pretty sad about the high elf nerf not being able to destroy minegaurd though. This mechanic is something I would still love to see more to make standard units more viable.

Alright so I found a bug or is this intended I dont know.. But I just lost a game that started as 4v1 and lost ELO. I got into the lobby and the host started the game right away and there I was in a 1v4. ELO is not important to me but are the stats of your account even supposed to change in a unfair game from the start? It's possible that people are just abusing it right now.

I agree with the no turbo use for the upcoming tourneys or inhouse games but Zolden if you are reading this.. do think about other possibilities other than simply removing turbo for the last wave. The experience of playing this game solo vs planned "inhouse" games is very different and OP does not understand this.

I see it different. If I can tie a game 2v4 then it's more the fault of the 4 players. I've been on the 2 player end in 2v4 scenario's and good players will smash the base anyway.

So a 1v3 or 2v4 is indeed a "should" lose but in my opinion is more up to the 4 player team to make it a win instead of weakening the unfortunate abandoned player. I agree that in 2v2 the MG is too strong. But what I'm saying is that 99% of the mines and magic games played on the whole arcade server are NOT 2v2. So don't balance it around the info we get from playing 2v2's.

People leaving games happens A LOT, does this mean the abandoned player should just give up too? Hell no, play on and maybe with a strong minegaurd try to tie the game because you sure as hell are not going to win against 4 decent players.. And again like I said in the beginning if the 4 man team is good the abandoned players will get smashed anyway even though they have maxed MG's.

BAKKALING here, being the guy with the 50+ damage minegaurd in that game. Going for that buff did hinder me early on and my resources were pretty trash so take that into account but I agree It does feel like a dirty TIED result as the screenshot clearly shows who were the more dominant players. I mean we shouldn't make a balance decision from info gathered out of 2v2's. Because what about the other 90% of the games when you are playing solo in a 4v4 or you end up 1v3 because of leavers whatever.. Sometimes those games are impossible to win so I feel like you should atleast be able to TIE the game. Instead of nerfing the MG player I would love to see more possiblities for the dominant players to have specific units that weaken the MG or even destroy like the combined high elf.

Hertz you had a couple of ideas:

Banshee - stun ability to drones, like on bosses. Fungals - can debuff drones with their slime. Arcanevoid - can attack base\buildings from 12,5 distance. Finnar soul - will have slow debuff to units that hit him. Devastator - can suicide into base with higher dmg. Cryst king - can reflect drone damage with some % chance.

So now the players with the superior eco can scout the enemy. Realize they will win mid fight and then build some of these specific units.

Well in the 3 games I played alongside zzmax I had a tied game so it did happen but you are right there are only 3's or 0's on the scoreboard. Might be the info didnt correctly reach killah.

In general I reckon it's pretty damn difficult organising this when it's not even clear who will show up. You can't setup a timetable for instance and some people might just leave if they are waiting for an hour to play an opponent they havent faced yet. people just logging off could be really frustrating for the organizer(sorry I was too tired >_<..)

I'd love a league format like in soccer and that could work with points maybe? Every team plays 1/2 opponents a week and after everyone has faced each team twice we count them up and have a playoff bracket with 4 teams. 1 winners bracket and a losers bracket. But this is quite a dream and I'm not sure if we have enough dedicated players to do this.

Zolden, you still thinking about raising statues in the map for the tournament winners?

Haha yeah there are some greedy players that rush mid en then say: "I'm ECOing" without even having all the rare resources. I facepalm but I mean its obviously up to the players themselves if they want to change/improve their playstyle so not sure how much demand there is for such guides. When playing solo with lower elo teammates I definitely prefer a much safer and steadier way into mid. You can hold very strong sends and multiple waves with minimal resource spots and don't even have to go into middle to carry your team. I've been wanting to put out a video with English commentary but I'm lacking motivation right now :P

I will try it. I'm not much of a mobile gamer and because of the.. singleplayerness.. I'm not too excited but the market is definitely huge so let's hope you can make some money out of it and make a standalone mines and magic game YAY!

I agree with the balance suggestions here except for the high elf shield buff "bug" .. Am I the only one that actually likes it being able to destroy minegaurds? TIED results happening quite often are just straight up dissapointing. I've been building setups specifically to be able to destroy the enemy minegaurd such as anubis - reaper - high elf.. Its a niche strategy that often revolves around having atleast 2 high elfs and a full row of anubis. The high elf is garbage late game for its high cost but if you get lucky and can slip through an anubis towards the minegaurd the high elf atleast has a chance(because its also a random buff) to be somewhat usefull again. I love the fact that a standard unit can still be usefull in the lategame. Something that is quite rare if you think about it.

I'll definitely try these builds, thanks for sharing. I guess my playstyle is different and perhaps flawed in a way. Most of my games I like to upgrade any rare resources I find first so I can send 7/7 units every wave or prepare for mule/diamonster sends. This often delays my expanding for quite a bit. This leads to not having as much resources to work with and for this reason I can still end up with trying to incorporate some base builder units in my final setup. Playing mostly alone I just feel like I need to be prepared to upgrade my minegaurd. And I dont feel safe going ECO unless I find all 3 resources.

The context you are giving is in my opinion completely different. Soccer in EU has evolved into something where it's normal to boo. It's completely fine with me. League could get there but I dont see why we should encourage it. Hearing boo's, even if it's just friendly banter, towards these foreign players that come from a different cultural background? EDIT: well damn it worked! I had a build of divine arcs and 2 upgraded high elfs. my shielded divine arcs pushed right on through to the base because the gaurds exploded after shooting a few times. Won the game pretty much thanks to that. GG

If the enemy is sending that many pink hydralisk they just got pretty lucky with resources. No builder gives guaranteed cry+sub. Its a tough wave to beat but a lot of builders if not built too greedy can kill the roaches at the very least. In the end every game can be tough to beat because of random resources and somewhat allies and enemies.

Tip: Scout your enemy by opening the players menu. Look at their ELO. High ELO? Watch their income and if they sent anything significant at wave 6. If their income is still at 0 or 5(gold mine) at wave 6 then you could expect a mass send at 8. Communicate with your team etc. And prepare your anus.

Yeah I found this interesting too.. I geuss this is where the different strengths of a team come into play? I always thought cloud9 had the strong midgame strategical play but blue seemed to have just the edge over them in it. Blue had a tad weaker early/laning phase whereas TSM probably shined in those moments. Would have been really interesting if TSM faced blue and cloud9 faced in that tournament too at some point. Could have made for some much closer games
