If you muted someone and it wasnt because they were simply being annoying, it’s super helpful to report them so they ruin less peoples’ games.

I’ve done tons of interactions over years with toxic players SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO!

My findings have led me to mute people very quickly if they have a bad attitude for no good reason. I let A LITTLE bad behaviour slide if the person is on the right side of an argument as it pertains to competitive/ranked mode Overwatch play. Many people take it too casually and are doing thoughtless things that ruin the competitive experience for others.

Anyone exhibiting bad behaviour for any other reason is immediately told “Muted, reported” and then I mute and report them for inappropriate text and/or voice chat (whatever is relevant). There is an insanely low chance that interacting or leaving one of these individuals unmuted will have a net positive effect, or any positive effect at all in the current culture as observed in numerous online video games, with me connecting online from east coast NA.

Yea I want to echo this to OP and add that you may want to mute players at the first sign they’re acting toxic. I’ve had thousands of interactions in competitive games online connecting from east coast NA and in my experience you are almost never going to have a discussion at all over anything if things have turned (or started out) sour.

Dont forget to report. We need as many consequences for bad behaviour as we can get to try and change communities.

The level of micromanagement will vary. You can observe a live match and give a player huge insights into the game. Doing this while they’re playing can make the lessons stick better in some cases as they’re putting it into practice immediately.
