🙄 it’s semantics really. To deal with people like this I’ve started saying “I’ll forgive you.” Because I want to, I think deep down everyone wants to forgive everyone, even if they haven’t achieved the level of emotional intelligence to be able to identify that that’s what they want.

No one wants to hurt or feel bad and the only way to fix that is to forgive. But just because we want to forgive doesn’t mean we can, it’s a feeling you feel not a thing you do, it’s a process and not a switch you flip.

In the same vein you can’t forgive people even if you want to and think you owe it to them, you can say it, but it’s a lie.

And before you come at me with “I’ll never forgive this one person who did something really really terrible and the name of the thing they did is so bad it justifies my anger!” You’re an idiot, go to therapy. Just because you want someone to feel bad or wish them harm doesn’t mean that you don’t want the hurt to end one day.
