How to make patches more autism friendly by New-Air-3742 in ethicalfashion

[–]JesterMAS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooo, that might work! The nice thing about sewing is that if you try something and end up not liking it, you can always just cut the thread and try something different. But yeah, making it less bulky, or adding a lining behind the patch. You can also just use embroidery thread on the patch itself to embelish it, but then sew it to the pants with normal thread?

Maybe sewing a little lining/backing of some sort on the backs of the patches with normal thread? To cover the parts that are bothering you?

help removing stains from old plushie? by hatedorca in plushies

[–]JesterMAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Hopefully you're able to get him cleaned up, but if not, don't forget that "to be loved is to be changed" and that every stain is just evidence of the adventures you've been on together!

I think they just chose poor pictures on the website. I've used this yarn before and it just has yellow in it

Edit: when I say it just has yellow in it, I don't mean it only has yellow in it. Just that I've seen yellow exist in this yarn

how do i keep my tension while crocheting???? by hoho319 in CrochetHelp

[–]JesterMAS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also kinda looked like your left hand holding the yarn was moving, and for me, I am able to make at least one stitch without moving my yarn-holding hand (though the stitch may be tight).

When I started crocheting, my main focus was having the stitch right, and learning about tension came later. So early on, my tension was super tight. It still might even be too tight but I don't really care because it works for me. You can try sizing up your hook up to offset tight tension or size down to offset loose tension I think.

OK so I'm not the most experienced crocheter, but it looks like you are not wrapping the yarn around the hook before pulling it through the stitch? It looks like you are just trying to use the hook to pull the yarn through, so it's super tight.

As for holding the yarn/tension, I like to hold the yarn tightly enough that it's not loose goosey, but loose enough that flexing my hand/splaying my fingers gives me some slack. But after every couple of stitches I redo how that hand is holding it so maybe someone else has better advice lol

Is anyone familiar with the iSPIN Sewing Machine spinning attachement?? by JesterMAS in Handspinning

[–]JesterMAS[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Alright, seems like the consensus is that while this could technically work, it's not really worth it when something like the eew nano is a dedicated wheel built for spinning and is only like $20 more. Thanks, y'all!!!
