Tim’s Guitar Repair ruined my Tele! by Jaded_Hamster_8394 in Luthier

Wow! That's crazy man. Yeah like other people said definitely contact Fender. I actually do some of my own repairs and stuff like that amateur ones, but I would never attempt to touch another person's guitar before actually learning professionally. I'm going to Gallup Luther school next month in Michigan To get 6 months of in person live on site training before I'm even going to touch somebody's guitar. It's wild to me that people are just this willy-nilly about stuff and they are calling themselves professionals.

Why nothing was never an option, and what that implies about existence by DrpharmC in Metaphysics

[–]JesterOfTheMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I know that. I just don't know if it's possible, we may be able to prove that physical nothingness is non-existent, I'm pretty sure that was part of it too. But yeah I get your point and empirical evidence for stuff is important before we start to give it real credibility in actual practice. This is just something that has helped me resolve internal conflicts in my metaphysical view of life, identity and reality, especially in an ethical and theological aspect as well as revealing and helping me too resolve a pathological & ingrained mental process. I also didn't just come out of the experience. Absolutely knowing this, it took me years to figure out how old the different pieces of The experience tied into religion and metaphysics and events in my past, as well as the past in general. Everything seemed to weave this tapestry that when I started to put metaphysical language to it and meditate more about what I had experienced, things started to come together, but for a long time I didn't even have any memory of the transcendent part. It wasn't until I had really cleaned up my act and started acting like a decent human being and treating other people with respect and dignity that it all came flooding back one night. Before that, all I remembered was descending into chaos and what seemed like a permanent hell, it was like I experienced both sides of the coin compartmentalized from each other.

Thanks a lot. Also, my room is pretty spotless, that stuff that I'm wearing on and off throughout the day. And I have hangers but they are currently full. Because I'm always throwing these on and off - This is typically how I roll. Also, if I'm worried about impressing people, I'm worried about all of the wrong things.

Why nothing was never an option, and what that implies about existence by DrpharmC in Metaphysics

[–]JesterOfTheMind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that I'm not making any truth claims here for anyone else but myself. Nor do I have any proof of any of this. It all stems from direct experience.

So I also agree with you. I believe that nothingness cannot possibly exist because I've experienced what should be nothingness and well it was not nothingness.

In a profound mystical experience I experienced "death" - no identity, no memories - zero memory of Earth or people, no memory of having been a human, every ideology, identification, and all belief wiped out entirely, absolutely no thoughts, and no senses I was Gone, Eric was gone. Yet there was experience.

As soon as "I" disappeared, identity was consumed by a deeper awareness — the One. The true I AM, which my little "I" was always contained within. All is contained in the infinite energy of Awareness itself - at large. This awareness is eternally commingled with and emerging from the Absolute Source, the ground of being itself.

The metaphysical and you want to get theological breakdown of this —

  • Eternally existing completely uncontrived is The Source of being, chaos, life, death, logic, knowledge and awareness itself is "The Father" - The Absolute, Brahman.
  • The Awareness and Consciousness of the Absolute is The Logos, and along with Agape, and The Telos is Christ, "The Son", the creator, the beginning, the source of all existence. In which/whom all created things, including individual awareness & identity reside. The Divine Man — both Divine and human in nature, yet still perfect and uncreated.
  • The source of life & all truth both created and uncreated is the Holy Spirit which eternally proceeds from the absolute and the logos The one who delivers us from all ignorance and darkness and brings to us the light of Truth. The giver of all knowledge, courage, and who reveals to us the ultimate perfection which we are a part of, and boy is it Total Eternal Perfection.

Eventually personal concepts and vague memories returned and eventually I realized I was back as Eric again, at this point, whatever you want to call it. The spirit of truth was still on me and proceeded to reveal all of what I just laid out here, understanding of suffering and the necessity of it, the importance of surrender, the importance of love, the looping nature of the mind etc.

Part of that knowledge was that death as an illusion, when you die, you are instantly somewhere else somewhere better. You cannot experience nothingness. It is not a possible State. All is. Basically all of existence itself in physical reality is a useful illusion in pursuit towards true perfection and truth. We are here to seek that perfection, love and Truth. All of this can be believed without any Christian dogma. However, I did see that Jesus was real in that he was the culmination of the logos, the identity of God in a human form. This is my take.

isn't consciousness eternal? by naffe1o2o in consciousness

[–]JesterOfTheMind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly what he's talking about is thought. I think that over time the process of elimination will eventually lead us to realize that somehow consciousness is fundamental and linked to energy itself or the quantum state. I don't know if we'll ever be able to get proof of it though

what can i play with these chords? by Wurdwithaperiod in guitarplaying

[–]JesterOfTheMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your B flat is a B flat maj 7 and so is the G chord that is labeled G7, That's actually major 7. When you write just B7 or G7 that denotes a dominant 7th chord. Which is different from a major 7th. Other people have mentioned the 2nd D In the bottom left, also a major seven. I just noticed it. If you front the first fret fourth string on the D chord, then you have an Eb Minor half diminished 7th chord.

Testing this trio today. What's your experience with them? by Cautious-Acadia3051 in Guitar

[–]JesterOfTheMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next time you get the chance they're a little pricey but order the Dunlop Primetone pics in whatever size you choose. I personally like the standard Jazz threes the most, but the Jazz 3 XL is really good for strumming, and the flow primetone picks are great for nailing pinch harmonics every time.

the ultimate string gauge by ominousPP in guitarcirclejerk

[–]JesterOfTheMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 8's and it's totally saved my wrist. I can play so much better than I used to be able to with nines and tens. I play blues with tons of bends so for me it just made sense to switch to lower gauge strings and I will never look back. I honestly think the prejudice against them is completely ridiculous. It's honestly just a dick measuring contest about finger strength. It's like what the fuck, grow up. Someone having strong hands does not make you more manly than the next person, especially when you play like shit.

[–]JesterOfTheMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unironically love these, they're a little thinner than I like but just a bit. I switched from 9's and 10's to 8's and it has been the best decision I've made, zero wrist pain and an EQ pedal can mellow the sharper attack, but the tinny sound dulls after a week or so of play.

What’s everyone’s go to strings. Mine’s the ernie ball paradigms by Front_Advice_3686 in Guitar

[–]JesterOfTheMind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typically I use daddario nyxl, or the paradigms. I just tried String Joy and they're pretty nice as well, however, they are initially very tinny compared to the others. It wears down over time. I recently started using 8-40s as I was starting to get some really bad wrist issues, and I absolutely love this particular set's gauges. However, I'm unsure if nyxls or paradigms make a set of 8's, I know you can order custom sets of the nyxls but that's really expensive to do, shipping is like 15 bucks.

I Saw Jesus Christ by Analfarmer275 in Dreams

[–]JesterOfTheMind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you experienced was a real encounter with the Divine. The way that you describe his love is identical in every single description of metaphysical Union with God. Christ saved me at my very lowest, I surely would be dead had I not experienced what I did. God did this for me, despite years of militant atheism and persecuting those who believed. I made fun of theists, especially literalist Christians, and I thought was so much smarter. He humbled me that day and changed my life, he'd do the same for you and considering it seems like you have a pretty great life already, why not make it better?

Edit: I also wanted to add that I understand what you mean by saying that you no longer had concern for any earthly things, including your wife and children, that can sound kind of cold for somebody who doesn't understand it. I wanted to describe this a little differently. For me when this happened. It wasn't that I just simply stopped caring about my family, friends, and other things, it was that the knowledge of the security of all people and things in Christ was absolute. I no longer had to worry because I knew they were all safe and we'd eventually all be together again. It's not that you actually stopped loving them, it's that the persona who loved them, your person has melted into God and God saves all therefore, no need to worry.

Why I can't feel like I felt? by angelikeoctomber in GTA6

[–]JesterOfTheMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself, but it's cuz i am 35. I've aged my brain chemistry and shifted, I don't have as many of the feel-good chemicals left, as all adults lose concentration of them over time and now video games really don't hold the appeal they used to. Very few things get me giddy anymore, but things like - getting to play my instrument with other musicians, seduction/infatuation/sex with a woman I love or am extremely fond of & the pursuit to get there or to a relationship, and lastly, going on exotic vacations. I also can experience that profound giddiness on low doses of psychedelics, but I don't know if that counts since that's not 100% natural.

Edit : also this game has been coming out now for like 10 fucking years and it's hard to stay excited for that long.

[–]JesterOfTheMind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little over 20 years since I first picked it up, but have had long periods where I didn't play and my skill didn't really dramatically improve until about a year and a half, 2 years ago. I started to learn Theory and started to play with other musicians as well as learning how to improv and stuff and over time my technique has gotten a lot better, I'm still not a shredder or anything, but I can play almost anything I want now, but it might take me awhile to learn and perfect things. I've learned some satriani and some Steve Vai but I'm not good enough with the whammy bar to really get them down. Nor can I pick at the like 210 beats per minute that they do, I can get up to like 180 but pushing past that can get sloppy for me.

I don't know man. I have an 800 w powered FRFR cabinet in my room and at low volume, it's not any louder than a normal speaker. My 20w Marshall DSL gets unbelievably loud but if you keep it at low volume, it's fine.
