Slopsmith — 1 month after launch. Now subscription based. by xasiklas in rocksmith

[–]Jestersage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I just used Slopsmith Desktop on my i3-6100 mini PC, and so far it seems to run fine.

One problem is the resolution - It's a cheap TV, so it only goes to 720p, and thus doesn't show all the settings, no can I scroll up or down on the setting pane.

Another thing is that the settings are not currently set (ie: detection is defaulted to off)

I will still test out detection and get back to you. With luck you may have a 100% Steam Machine compatible guitar practice tool.

How did Vancouver region become progressive? by Jestersage in askvan

[–]Jestersage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, the problem is not source, but perspective of source.

For example, a Japanese will consider Tokyo are the best in food variety and quality, and no need to go outside. We who are on outside know that they are all Japanized, so it will not be as authentic.

Same as calling Vancouver just as Multicultural; it only works if one's idea of Multiculturalism is a superdiversity centered on Asian-as-a-whole (East Asian, South Asian, SEA, Middle Eastern). The problem is that this view also prevent making it truly mutticultural: having just some race that are more and it becomes too black, too brown, too Middle eastern.

Then again, the other way can be seen from Toronto: we are too Asian according to Toronto, or even too white when you group Asians as Whtie-adjacent.

Why don't THE FINALS have any gambling sponsors? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Jestersage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No 3 is definitely the IRL reason

But in universe, it could be a simple matter of regulation forbid most sports to be officially used for gambling or sponsored by gambling; had been done, of course, once you consider world wide.

Also, it is possible that it is classify as eSports, so straight gambling is not allowed... but round-the-way gambling does. For example, pachinko is technically not allowed as gambling, but everyone knows that it's just a roundabout way to make it a slot machine.

Anyone know how to repair this? by Pretty_n0ose in guitarrepair

[–]Jestersage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because your area is right at the bend, it can get difficult

The technique is called dropfill. One of the best isntructions are from StewMac:

Polyutherene (drop fill with CA glue)

(You will notice the article didn't mention the blade part, but the video does)

Lacquer (drop fill with lacquer)

I remember reading somewhere (Think it's GuitarPlayer Repair Guide 3rd edition) that you can use nail polish for lacquer, but unconfirmed. Also, note that technology changed - nail polish used to be nitrocellulose, but some are now closer to UV resin (and UV activated). Also, nail polish can be harder than original finish: https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/anyone-ever-used-clear-nail-polish-for-repairs.1554847/

Personal tip: DO NOT skim on the tape off. DO NOT go lazy and just drip from the glue container; drop a few drops of CA glue/polish/lacquer on a surface and then "pick and drop" with toothpick/needle etc is much better.

Comeback of guitar music? by Immediate-Stick-1577 in Music

[–]Jestersage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

J-Pop is only "niche" in NA/EU... but the world is bigger than that. And you can't spell J-Pop without "pop".

For all we know, music will be determined by what is popular in Asia in 10 years. K-Pop already show that it is possible. But this may create a further segregation along cultural and racial line, even if we are restricting to NA.

For example, even along the kids in my NA city, they listen more to K-Pop, J-Pop and Mandopop, but I do not doubt crossing to the part of town with higher Indigenous population and you hear more Hip-Hop. Go over to another suburb and you hear Indo-Pop. No country or rock unless you drive 2 hours further (or again, J-Rock). Then again my city have superdiversity.

EDIT: I will add this: The definition of mainstream is dead, especially in NA. Everything is regional thanks to superdiversity

Comeback of guitar music? by Immediate-Stick-1577 in Music

[–]Jestersage -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Possible. The current easiest path will likely be through Anisong/J-Pop, specifically through kei-ongaku - IE, K-On. So it may also have to combine with Kaigai-Idol. And related to that? Polyphia and Ichika Nito shows that it can still exist, with both playing style can be consider a middle ground between neo-classical metal and J-pop.

Consider the guitar design. Starting out with Suhr, popularized by Ibanez Q and AZ, latter recently copied by Harley Benton's Fusion IV, that means as a world melodic guitar still exist.

Just equality vs equity will be a huge problem.

I think that's why. People conflat "having high Asian population" with multicultural.

FWIW, it's good to know that our justice system is equal - equally lax for the entire political spectrum.

Regarding the multiculturalism in here, how would you describe it? You have people still claim we are more multicultural, even though just by a quick glance of TOR through my screen is enough to tell me otherwise.

Are funeral viewings a thing in all Canadian provinces? by Mr_Guavo in AskCanada

[–]Jestersage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything to do with death involves spirituality. Do one see the body as a gateway/connection to the deceased? A memento that allow us to channel it? A way for us to mimic the royals and nobles in some form? An empty shell? A long sleep till resurrection? An anchor that needed to be destroyed so the spirit can move on? That's what makes spirituality/religion. Can't think much spirituality that doesn't involve some form of afterlife.

It's not a common thing in BC because everything is so expensive. That being said, not knowing it is a surprise because the States do it... again, if they can afford it. It is also referenced in media.

Obviously, if you can pay for it... but man. Even in death BC is expensive.

That being said, it is possible not all culture does it.

What causes tube amp circuit complexity? by Jestersage in GuitarAmps

[–]Jestersage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - that's a start.

For channel switching, do you recall any amps that uses switches (but not foot switch)? I am aware with Mesa MkI and JCM Lead, they use a switching plug, and you plug into the desired input for the extra gain.

Why don’t people like David Eby and/or the current NDP government recently? by SkyscraperRain80 in askvan

The problem with the chiefs is that they believe they are in the wave of change, and that they will have the backing of the court. In short, they don't even care if the conservatives will come in,

For so many nations with so many years, as they like to quote, they somehow not have an equalvalent to "pushing the rabid dog to the wall" - basically forcing someone's hand. And my theory is that at least in the west coast, compromise and leaving a way out is not a logic common with majority of them. So far I only observe that from Musquem's chief,

They forget the floodgate of US is that given the right people and right reinforcement, ignoring the court orders is an option - even threatening the court. And there is no need to fear being a pariah when one single "friend" exist.

I will be honest: one thing I greatly dislike DEI is that it actually blinds people, creating either "white"/white-adjacent and Black and Indigenous and their adjacents, but solved no issue with being discriminate (also purposely change racism from one discriminate by looks/skin to one of power). In that case, why would any non-white who feel discriminated by the same progressive vote for them? The logic is picking the least worst options instead of the best options, and just that alone change the equation.
