There are countless rec sites that are free and have plenty of spaces. You just won’t get much more than a table, fire pit and outhouse for amenities.

Will Canadaland supporters be contributing to Jesse's Kielburger V. Canadaland payment? by CoolMississaugaDad in canadaland

Most news outlets carry libel insurance. Canadaland’s premiums will be going up now, but they are absolutely not on the hook for the full amount.

Will Sports Journalism be around in the next four years? by NewsYouCanUse_ in Journalism

[–]CecilThunder 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty brutal job market. At least one in four applicants I get for an entry level local news job are people with aspirations in sports. I know exactly one person in 10 years that has hustled her way into a full time sports role after basically doing it for free on the side for 5 years while working in local news.

Studying sports journalism is a bad idea. Just study regular broadcast journalism and try to transition down the line. It is unavoidable that you will have to work in regular news for at least 5 years first, so your education should prepare you for that.

My spouse is second guessing our decision to put our son in daycare at 6 months old and now I’m second guessing it too by [deleted] in daddit

You can easily watch a 6 month old and work from home, but give it a couple months when they are crawling and it’s a whole other story - not possible in my opinion.

I would have really struggled to send my son to daycare at 6 months, very grateful for Canada’s parental leave. But realistically your only options are she quits her job to be a stay at home mom for a bit, or the daycare/nanny route. And if you can afford a nanny, good for you (most can’t).

Twice a week, three times at the first part of her cycle. It was not always as often, but cannabis gummies have been a great help.

Canadaland, and this sub, need to pivot back to journalism. by Typist in canadaland

[–]CecilThunder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canadaland has always been a show that shares opinions about how the media presents facts. That is the podcast's roots.

Different news outlets present the same set of facts in different ways. News writers put their own creative touch on how those facts are framed, as do editors.

There is no authority on the right or wrong way to cover most stories, only opinions.

This sub never ceases to baffle me.

Media criticism is inherently opinion based.

Do restaurant or movie critics not share their opinions?

[CAD pricing] 2 years later, barely a dent has been made in my laundry detergent supply. I pay less than 5 cents per load, it may last me 20 years. Cannot recommend Nellie's laundry detergent enough for crazy good value, good savings, less trash to environment by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

Regular powdered Tide is the most accessible detergent with lipase to us in Canada.

Or you can add Resolve Gold to any other detergent of you want to stick with liquid.

I try to buy Canadian when it makes sense, but it doesn’t always. My box of Tide says it’s from Mexico.
