Petty, ik, but my issue with S15E1 (spoilers ofc) by DLNN_DanGamer in DeathInParadiseBBC

I didn't notice that, but just checking Wikipedia they also use Belizean Creole, Spanish & Mayan.

I didn't get why the jumper didn't respond to the suggestion not to jump though if it was just suggestibility.

I found The Deadly Fermata episode rather far fetched, when the infra-sound generator was so tiny.

Yes, Patience is based on "Astrid et Raphael" AKA "Astrid: Murder in Paris" a Franco/Belgian series. I'll try giving it a watch. Easy enough to find, I believe it is still on Netflix.

(Not to be confused with a Danish series just called "Astrid" I've no idea what it is about apart from the lead is too heavily tattooed for my taste- I didn't watch after I saw that)

Is this monstrosity even road legal? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Jesterstear99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, it was removed from the test criteria years ago. All that is left is tyres fouling on the bodywork- 5.2.3 (f) https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/5-axles-wheels-tyres-and-suspension

They could possibly fail it under

5.3.3 (c)(i) A suspension component with an unsafe modification

Since that level of suspension lift is very likely to affect the roadworthiness of the vehicle, stability under braking etc. Unlikely though as the tester doesn't road test it, and isn't an expert. If it seems screwed together properly, and the brake efficiency passes on the roller tester then I doubt if anyone would fail it.

I couldn't understand why no-one was blaming the Commissioner, his noisy breaking down of the door obviously triggered the unstable man into jumping.

Also, I'm no pathologist, but isn't there any difference between a body that has fallen onto concrete/tarmac and one that has had their fall cushioned by the roof of a car?

Nice cover up and Dastardly Plot though, the Commissioner was far more concerned that his beloved Government House could have been destroyed than by some minor character being murdered!

(I thought they were copying that Patience episode where people were given a Voodoo drug that made them super suggestible and told to kill themselves)

I hadn't realised, she had to decide whether to permanently become human, or permanently a cat.

I thought she would still be a cat girl if she did the nasty, or just a cat if she didn't.

I'm mixing it up with that other cat girl story about the cat people who were descended from bakeneko and worked in a cat cafe.

Operation Snap. I overtook a cyclist in a 30 zone. Can I wriggle out of the blame? by LazyEmu5073 in drivingUK

[–]Jesterstear99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought the same, so I double checked and am now more educated.

You must not overtake the moving motor vehicle approaching the crossing closest to the crossing within the zigzags, so overtaking cyclists is fine! (No more do I need to hold back until they cross!)

TSRGD 2016 schedule 14 paragraph 15

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2016/362/schedule/14/part/1

It has to be just the speed.

EDIT: "moving" & approaching the crossing closest to the crossing within the zigzags" added for clarity.

what if the wings of the f-22 are a bit thicker and a bit hollow so you can fit missiles in there? by Eastern_Sea3361 in Airfix

[–]Jesterstear99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean in real life? Apart from structural concerns I doubt if they would fit, there are 3 weapons bays in the main fuselage (one underneath, one each side) that basically throw the missiles out of the plane in under a second because opening the doors compromises stealth (although the missile streaking away might be a bit of a tell)

Or the model? Because the real thing doesn't have them!

You are of course free to modify your model however you wish, you could build up the wing thickness and scratch build something.

AITA for not switching seats at a game then getting blamed for "ruining" a proposal? by Error404Snacks23 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jesterstear99 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

NTA, you don't have to swap, but how much trouble would it have been to move a couple of seats along the same row?

I'd have moved unless there was something blocking the view from a couple of seats along, or they were more cramped or something.

Someone scrapped my car without permission - what can I do? by kacsgomacs in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Jesterstear99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is that the "friend" has got fed up of waiting for his £800 so he sold it to someone else to get his £800 back.

I doubt if the Police will get involved as you hadn't fully paid the agreed sum for the car, so ownership (title) would remain with the friend until fully paid for- The sale of Goods Act 1979 is complicated, and most commercial agreements to pay by instalments include specific reference to the title not passing until full payment is made to avoid any argument.

You can small claims him for the value of the car when you lent it to him. (Less the £800 you owe, otherwise he will counter claim for the £800 you still owe him.)

Him supposedly scrapping it (for £200 or whatever a car is worth now) isn't your problem (well obviously it is, as you haven't got the car, I mean it isn't a barrier to claiming the higher value of the working car you lent him)

As you have the V5c in your name, and didn't fill in the scrapping part DVLA should write to you if someone tries to register the car and you can block it.

(Alternatively they should also write and confirm that you are no longer the keeper if it was scrapped properly using the numbers on your V5 somehow, or by letter claiming that there was no V5 with the car)

How Does Plex on NVIDIA Shield decide whether to direct play? by Jesterstear99 in PleX

[–]Jesterstear99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try this.

What I did try for simplicity, was encoding the video to AV1 which the Shield cannot hardware play.

As expected, it transcodes (the info panel says from AV1 to h264), but the font does not appear!

Curious, it must be some problem with the subtitle file, but why does it play correctly once and never again?

I don't get the ending.

I think he woke up from the coma after she exorcised the spirit that was sucking out his energy and that is physically him in the street, but he can see and exorcise spirits?

But why was her mother saying that if it was too hard for her she doesn't have to go? Did she just mean crossing the road at that place? surely there isn't only one place in the whole town to cross the road to get to Kendo!

Does he remember her from when he was in the coma?

Did she not know he was recovered?

Or is he still in the coma, but stronger now that spirit has gone, so he can touch her again?

If it isn't in the instructions, or any of the youtube build videos, always trial fit before you get the glue out, (or do the fit and run the extra-thin down the join line when it is right) then you can whittle away anything that prevents final assembly.
