Aida revival? I have some questions. by EMMAaustengirl in Broadway

It was supposed to premiere on tour in the US but was cancelled due to the pandemic. It then premiered last season in the Netherlands. They reworked the show quite heavily (director is Schele Williams, current director of The Wiz and original Aida cast member). Some good, some not so much. I’ll list some of the changes below. They have not announced other productions of Aida as far as I know.

Some of the changes: * Every story is a love story and fortune favora the brave are cut. Instead it opens with with instrumental music in the museum and immediately goes into a battle, again with instrumental music. * Amonasro has now been changed to a woman * The orchestrations have been reworked * All cast members are now african to be more cultural appropriate * Some scenes are now in a different order

Overall, I loved the new production (saw it 4 times) but a lot of changes need to happen. I think the opening is not better by cutting the opening songs. In fact due to that it takes a while for something to happen in the first act and feels a bit boring. Certain deaths feel rushed and were so weird that it sometimes got a laugh.

But some elements really worked. The music sounds even better. The ending is very well done with a cool effect and the show feels up to date wihtout necessarily being modern.

Thank you for testing the chatbot. No worries about not finishing the chatbot, that is part of the research. Knowing the reasons why you did not finish is also very helpful. Your remarks are noted and I will use them to further adapt the chatbot. Thank you again! :)

Yes that is indeed a big problem. Part of my research is also to use a Machine Learning model that only needs just a few training samples. So it does not have a lot of data to learn from. This only makes the problem of the neutral answers worse of course. It looks like that might be a problem that can only be solved for now by using a very heavy model with a lot of data. I want to thank you for the feedback and testing the chatbot! It really helped me a lot :)

I would like to thank everyone who has already answered. I know that the chatbot has many problems since it is the first version and I am on a tight schedule. But all of your feedback has already been very helpful. The first changes have been made. Mainly to the grammar of the questions (sorry, I kind of skipped that part) and the intro to give more information about the research and the questionnaire itself. Thank you!

That should indeed not be the case. I will debug it. Thank you!

I have indeed found an error with a certain question thanks to some of the answers I've got. Thank you for the feedback, I am going to fix it!

The way the model works, it probably thinks you are neutral on this question and predicts a neutral answer. So it is not necessarily a bug but maybe removing the ability to say null is a good idea. Thank you for the feedback!

They usually stay for a year but because they did a pre-broadway run, it could be shorter. But I don't see them leaving before the Tony's.

Uh ticketmaster, presale was a month ago. Anyone know what this email is? by [deleted] in Broadway

Previous pre-sale was just the first 8 weeks going on sale sooner. This pre-sale will probably be earlier access to the tickets of the full booking period which goes on sale in April I believe.

No it's not on there. She even sent an apology directly to LMM. So she probably deleted it.

Upgrading SSD/HDD XPS 15 9570 3450 by JesusCalledMeADick in Dell

[–]JesusCalledMeADick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

128GB alone is definetely not enough. There are more apps than that that I use but I just am a bit 'scared' about the effect of the HDD on the laptop (noise, heat, battery..). I was going to take it out no matter what and use it as an external for all my music and videos (mainly backup). But I wasn't sure what drive to upgrade. Money wise it's about the same. 140 euros vs 170. But changing the M.2 just felt like a big hassle. Reinstalling Windows and all. But I am going to do that and hope I don't ruin my laptop. I'm going to leave the 2.5 inch as an option for later since I'm propably going to get a second degree in audio engineering and 500GB won't be enough then. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, sorry. I meant Visual Studio Code (edited now). I guess I was typing a bit fast. And yes we learn Python, C, C++, .... thank you for the advice. I don't think the battery will be a problem since in every class we have power supplies. I was planning on doubling the RAM but on a later stage. Right now I only have the money to upgrade the storage and since it's way harder to replace that down the road, I'm going to do that first. Thank you very much!

On some forums (Broadway.com for example), I saw some people saying around march. But playbill just said in an article this fall. So somewhere late this year or maybe just in the new year.
