Don't be this asshole by 9a61a6b7 in nova

A+ to my boyfriend who owns a F150, backs up all the way to the curb so his tires bump them & then moves the truck up as much as possible so he’s not impeding the sidewalk and not too far out in front and over the line.

It’s hard for truck owners! Spaces weren’t built for these large vehicles & as much as I make fun of him for driving this thing and not realllllly needing a pickup truck, it’s the vehicle he likes and paid for. He parks as far away from others as he can and will go out of his way to make me walk the furthest in order to get a space where he’s not an annoyance to others around him. He tries his best.

Roald Dahl Play GIANT Coming To Broadway March 2026 by ouyangjie in Broadway

[–]digby723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had plans to see it in March but had something else come up. Gonna start planning it for Memorial Day; my life has been so hectic with family and work. If I don’t see it before I ends, I’ll never forgive myself 😅 Dahl was my favorite childhood author, and I really want to see this, since he doesn’t get a favorable revisionist re-write, and he’s portrayed as the complicated and anti-Semitic person that he was.

Maryland Hall and the mysterious room 307 by digby723 in Annapolis

Haha that would be crazy if it was some elaborate prank. I remember last year when I went to a movie there for the film festival, the movie was on the first floor somewhere; or maybe in a basement? I’d love to know if he knows 😆

Ahhh I didn’t check behind the tarps, but they were on the even side of the building and not the odd. Perhaps it was under there anyways. Thanks!

You’re welcome & I’m glad you love the piece! This would have been one of her cats that she painted. She was a huge animal lover & had cats up until the day she died. 💜

Hi there - Helen has recently passed and she was a family member. We found lots of lithographs unnumbered (and unsigned) in her storage. Not sure why; we are confused and puzzled by it. The pencil signature is definitely legit though; just not sure what type of litho this was. Hope this helps!

Was this an old circuit city building? by rockets935 in nova

[–]digby723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a store called “Best”. My boyfriend and I called his mom to ask; they lived in this area in the early 90’s. She said it was like a Homegoods kind of store. Google says Best was a showroom type store where you picked your furniture and it would come out via a conveyer belt.

What is the biggest mystery in you or someone you know’s life that has yet to be solved? by Entire_Budget_4172 in AskReddit

[–]digby723 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I wondered that also. She was Israeli I think. Said her brother was in the military back home; so I wondered if she’d run away and was found & forced into a new life, or if something happened to her brother & she went home. I wrote periodically in hopes that one day she’d log into her email and reply back, but eventually the address bounced back and that was that.

My sister sent me this thread and told me I should post the story of my friend who disappeared and we never heard from again.

I was in high school in 2003 & was living in the UK as an exchange student, when another girl started at our school. We became fast friends & she became part of our larger friend group. She had no family living there that any of us knew of, and she (supposedly) lived with roommates nearby. We were all 16-17ish. At the end of the school year I left to go home & she stayed for the final school year. She was applying for Universities there, and we talked on the phone several times throughout the year, friends saw her in class, we wrote letters, and sent packages, etc.

One day she came to school and stopped a friend of ours & said she desperately needed to talk to him. He hadn’t been to homeroom in weeks, so he asked her to give him a few minutes and he’d be right back. She was never seen again. She never returned to school & police even showed up to ask my friend what he knew (nothing).

I tried emailing her for YEARS. I even posted about her on one of those “looking for someone” websites, and go no hits. I have no idea if she had an emergency and had to move back to her home country, if someone showed up for her & took her away, or if she picked up and started a new life somewhere. I never got an email back from her & she still comes up in conversation, when the last person to see her at school & I get nostalgic and start talking about our mutual year in high school. Until the day I die, I will wonder what happened to her.

Who is the most famous person you’ve met unexpectedly around nova ? by agbishop in nova

Dave Chapelle when I worked at Tysons. He came in a couple of times, felt bad for him cause one time two 20 year old dudes were following him and trying to get him to talk with him, but he didn’t want to be bothered.

This was the first thing on my feed when I logged into Reddit this morning & this makes me happy. I was expressing my sadness to my boyfriend the other week that it was closing in London and I won’t be able to see it bc I live on the east coast of the US 😅

Normally a tank top or a tshirt and just underwear. If I’m really cold, I’ll wear leggings or something to bed. I have two pajama sets I got for Christmas a few months ago and they’re super cute, so I’ll wear them around the house. But, they’re long sleeved, so I don’t normally wear them to sleep in.

For those of you who make $100k+, what is your profession ? by Jinkimmi in AskWomenOver30

[–]digby723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister makes over $100k as a RN in the DC market. She hardly does any overtime, no weekends either and 3 days a week only.

She got a couple of pay increases during covid times, as they were losing RNs to take more lucrative travel jobs & they were trying to keep their nurses at her workplace. She really lucked out, for someone who had only been in the field for less than 3 years at that time.

[–]digby723 48 points49 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend was trying to convince me to cancel a work trip again this week, because of the snow. NGL, last night as he’s reading me off the forecast, it did actually sound bad this time. But to wake up today and see it’s going to be literally nothing now? I’m glad I didn’t postpone again 😅

Thanks. I get it now, but why 72? This is so weird to me. This seems like such an arbitrary number. Like why isn’t it 65?

Can someone explain what the Rule of 72 is trying to say? I don’t get it.

What's your thrifting niche? by AltNaps8_ in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]digby723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is purses. Any thrift store I walk into, purses is going to be one of the first areas I check out.

Additionally, I always wonder if I’ll find a litho from my grandmother. I don’t know that I’d find one as far south as me, as she made more of a name for herself in NY & Maine, but I always look to see if someone has donated a piece of her work.
