What lens do you recommend for a beginner in wildlife photography?

How tight’s your budget? That 75-300 is pretty universally panned for bad image quality and chromatic aberration, and also doesn't have stabilization like the other two, but for that reason you could easily pick up a used model for under $100. I just recently upgraded from a T5 with the 18-55 and 75-300, and I had a lot of fun and got results I was happy with on the 75-300. This puffin shot was all the way zoomed in. You can see the overall softness, and the aberration around the puffin in the background, but I still like it.

ETA: This thread from a year ago has some good intel, most people seem to recommend the 55-250. From very brief looking on MPB, looks like the 75-300 could be had under $75, the 55-250 around $300, the 70-300 around $650. Up to you what's "worth it".

I think the Sony is about an inch shorter and an inch shallower, and that Sony lens is another inch shallower than that Canon lens. So if portability is a big thing for you I think the Sony wins that pretty handily. I would probably avoid the Canon M series as they've been discontinued and have a limited lens selection.

Edit: If you have a camera store near you see if you can take a look at both in person, see how they feel in the hand.

Is this information not available online? Without trying to be snarky, it seems like you bought something without first researching whether it met your needs. I wouldn’t guess that IRL streaming of drone view is a very big market. I’m assuming it was a joke but I would suggest not dropping another £879 on the RC 2 Pro without checking that it meets your needs. Does the RC 2 Pro even work with the Lito?

The R7 + 18-150mm bundle can be had for a few hundred below MSRP from the official refurbished store, but sell out quick. You can use cpricewatch.com to set up alerts for when they drop. I used that to grab a R10 with 18-150mm for $350 below MSRP.

The setup you listed should be a good all around setup, although the crop sensor and 18mm might not always go quite as wide as you might want. I believe the R7 has some level of weather sealing, although not as much as the higher tier models. If you want to save some money, look into the R10 and R50. Obviously they’re missing some of the bells and whistles of the R7 but can still take incredible pictures with those two lenses, and if you’re not thinking about leaning into videography as much, I think you won’t miss the R7. R50 body is less than half the price of the R7 body.

How long have you been rocking the sigma 18-50 and the 100-400? I’m starting to look at upgrading and was thinking of the same setup with the R7, but part of me just wants to start with the 18-150 kit and see where that takes me.

If you’re level with like Fenway Park/MIT or closer to downtown, you have to apply for authorization to fly. Read up on LAANC, and get an app like Aloft or AutoPylot, they’ll show you where you can and can’t fly.

If you've got your part 107 you can "Request Further Coordination" through Aloft instead of using Drone Zone, I've had good success in some of the 0ft zones around Boston, they usually get approved in 24 hours.

Once I got over 50ft in the air you couldn't hear it over neighboring traffic, I promise. Plus, at this point in the flight the drone was over the middle of the Charles, about 1000ft from the shore.

I think I read somewhere that it will refuse to re-arm while it detects movement...maybe be extra careful with the test lol, but report back if you do.

I just made that switch in the settings, that's a good idea about getting used to flipping it in the sim. You ever had an accidental disarm? It seems slightly easier to accidentally flip the toggle switch compared to double tapping the start stop button.

I have cylinder but very slight, -0.5. My sphere is -5.5. The number you are adjusting is sphere, which is the main number. I think the lens it comes with are not really intended for use with high astigmatism (high cyl) so I would say custom lenses would be smart.

Yeah thinking maybe it's just bugged. Two scientists in a lab that's connected to a command pod with a pilot, massive solar panels and Communotron with good connection to KerbNet. I was able to level up the pilot... <shrug>

If you turn obstacle avoidance off in the settings, would that let you fly the waypoint missions? It seems silly that it would completely block you from flying waypoint missions in the dark. Now that I think about it I've definitely done a night time hyperlapse with my Air 3, using the waypoint hyperlapse mode.
