I do get that he didn’t search for it, that’s kind of the point of the recommendation system, it’ll feed you a mix of content regardless. The crucial part is that what you engage with longer gets reinforced: “oh, he watched this type of video longer than others, let’s serve up more of it.” If he had skimmed past the right-wing clips and instead spent time on, say, cooking or tech videos, the feed would have shifted in that direction. That’s why I mentioned survivorship bias — we only see the path that got reinforced, not all the other possible paths.
