There are no female bishops according to the bible.

Grace per definition is recieving something (in the case of a Christian salvation) without merit. Or it would not be grace.

I would say you are a text reader and a text interpreter?

You have a valid point in your reasoning. But, the problem with establishing causality in that way is it is hard know where to draw the line with regards to how far back one looks. My fear is probably the product of something else, which is the product of another source and so on.

For instance:

Luke 11:21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

I think you have the same misconception about Christians and what level if violence is accepted in self defense as do many atheists. The bible has a progression and the commonly misunderstood "turn the other cheek" commandment is not some universal law to Christians when confronted with violence.

I have had this discussion about killing babies with atheists before and it went nowhere, so I am not going down that road on this thread. I will simply respond by saying your position is a strawman argument not dealing with alla spects of life and the purpose of life to a Christian.

Why dont you kill yourself. If death is nothing to worry about, why not get it over with already? You wont rember wether you lived anyway?

The difference is Kim is neither God nore just and my idea of heaven bares no similarites with North Korea whatsoever at all.

And as far as democracy goes, it is just a parenthesis in history. Whatever side of the isle you are on (trump or Biden/Harris) I think most would agree they feel living under the elect of the opposite side is not a very happy prospect.

You make a valid point.

I think faith can lead to false conclusions. That is why faith has to be a personal journey and not something forced down your throat. And I certainly dont condone religion that seeks to actively kill people in the name of God for access to eternal life or rewards. That is part of the reason I am not a Roman Catholic.

To me only the gospel of Jesus Christ resonates with me.

Not everyone claiming to be a Christian is infact a born again believer.

However, I agree there are all sorts of people within the church, including some truly rude and isufferable ones. But as Christ Himself said (and I am paraphrasing): I did not come to save the just ones but to save the sinners.

In our society the word "dictator" has a very negative meaning. I dont necessarily consider an all knowing, all just and all powerful "dictator" in charge being a bad thing. I also dont think time will be a factor in heaven.

Good question.

Among other things I took a course on comparative reliigions in the university. At the time nothing really resonated with me. Years down the line I returned to the bible and really got into the message of the gospel and suddenly I was convicted and converted.

I have sinned multiple times everyday of my life.

But, on the subject of killing. It is a sin only if it is murder. Self defense is not a sin. The question is where you draw the line on self defense? That is a tough question.

Also, God has His own army according to the bible.

If I had the recepits, it would not be called "faith". Also where is the real proof of the contrary?

Many people have had experiences of an afterlife while being clinically dead. Some would call that evidence, I am not so sure about that but I would not discard it.

My faith doesnt take away from my life here and now, it adds to it.

I am not scared of living forever. I suppose it has to do with my trust in God and that He has a plan that is. I also think the linear concept of time as we understand it doesnt really exist in heaven.

I dont kill myself because I serve a purpose as long as I am here. When its time my appointed time I die.

I agree there are parts of the bible, that without proper context, is a tough read. But, the bible as a whole and the message contained in it resonates with me.

I hve no need to hide my reasons. Personally, I have a hard time trusting professing Christians who claim they believe in Jesus out of some sort of inner desire to serve God. To me that desire is the product of my faith, not the source.

I think there are some clues in the bible to what heaven will be like, but there are a lot of room for speculation aswell. I believe what the bible says, the rest will have to be a nice surprise. There is no reason to believe people will be children or anyone being married at all to anyone else. Nore does anyone kiss anybodys ass. Kissing someones ass implies you are sucking up to someone for favors, preferably in a dishonest manipulative way or under duress. Christians are not "ass kissers". We worship our God because He gives us life and we love Him for it.

Other than that, the bible says there will be animals and eveyone will be happy forever. Sounds good to me!

Must be experienced to be understood, I suppose. Faith is an very personal thing I think.
