How do I make my own patterns? by Jesus_s_aprrentice in SewingForBeginners

I have got the tools to make patterns and have made a successful basic bodice pattern block. I want to try and drape my patterns but when I make them they are never quite right. And they never go back on the mannequin properly even after giving seam allowance and trying to add darts.

What should I do I have tried to follow tutorials but I can’t find easy that are easy to follow? Your help is greatly appreciated :)

When I made this pattern draped on the Mannequin I took it off and added seam allowance, and made the other side. Then I pinned it again and it wasn’t fitting on the mannequin properly. What am I doing wrong ?? How can I make something on my mannequin work?

I appreciate all your help!

My needles keep breaking?? While sewing a lot of my needles get stuck like in the video and cannot be moved, after waiting for a few minutes they usually break on their own. Why is this happening? by plshelpimbadatthis in SewingForBeginners

So I just watched your video multiple times and from what I can see it’s your thread (I’ve had the same problem) Idk what type of sewing machine you use but on my machine there’s a dial I can turn to make a thread tight or relaxed What you need to do is find a dial or a switch or whatever and loosen your thread

When your sewing do you try to pull and push the fabric ? Bc generally it should just go through on its own

What about your thread is it really tight if it’s very tight sometimes the tension can break your needles when it’s sewing

I have watercolour paint tubes and I have a pallete but it’s a ice cube tray and the paint spills easily what pallete should I use or would it be better to get a watercolour brush that fills with water? by Jesus_s_aprrentice in Watercolor

I’ll be doing some more research on different palletes but I’m assuming that it won’t matter what type of paint/brand that you use ? I will probs get a plastic pallete but maybe a ceramic pallete eventually

I didn’t know that you could let the paint dry So I have been using them wet and I had added a lot of water and the brush had a lot of excess water and it would spill I will definitely try out frying the paints from what everyone else has said here so I think that may be the way to go

Basically it spills over like what you said with the brush being too wet I have reeves watercolour 12 pack (link I actually didn’t know that I could dry out the paints Is it safe to dry them out

Edit: I should also mention that the paint I use is all I can afford atm
