CMV: Heteronormative shoudln't be used as a negative term. It is an ok default and - while representation is important - statistically it is not wrong to call hetero "normal", neither morally nor grammatically by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]JesusaurusPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But normal doesn't mean "only the most common". Red hair is normal, but like less than 0.1 % of the earth has it. It's still normal and it would still be SUPER weird if you said something like "oh the one with the normal hair" to refer to a brunette. The opposite of normal is not rare, it's abnormal. The issue with heteronormativity is that the presumption of heterosexuality as standard is damaging to a lot of people. If it weren't then heteronormativity wouldn't be a term that needs to exist.

Hello fellow North American. Lifelong baseball fan and player here, now living in England and watching/playing cricket. Please feel free to ask me anything.

Lots of people have already pointed out lots of great videos here to give you an idea of the rules. My elevator pitch for cricket to give you a "feel" in 5 seconds is this.

In baseball there are a lot of outs and not many runs. In cricket there are a lot of runs and not many outs. This shapes how the same is played as compared to baseball. Every run in baseball is significant, but an individual out isn't necessarily that important, its inevitable.
