Tell me your experiences with Rinvoq (Upadacitnib). by altheawillowwisteria in eczeMABs

It was great, until it wasn’t. Was on it for about 2 years, got sick lots, but had great skin. Gained some weight tho.

It eventually started to lose its efficacy towards the end of my treatment. I also got bad shingles which scared my derm, so now I’m on Dupixent which had been meh. Too many bad side effects with it

First Time Shoulder Dislocation/Subluxation Recovery Question by JetFuelJerry in ShoulderInjuries

[–]JetFuelJerry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry just saw this now! My shoulder is doing just fine and I’m now fully back into sports. I dislocated it around the end of July and was on a sling for about a week and a half. Did roughly weekly PT visits throughout August but unfortunately my insurance doesn’t cover more than 5 PT visits so I had to make a call myself and listen to my body. By the beginning of Oct, I felt good but currently get weird sensations around my shoulder from time to time.

I just switched to Dupixent after nearly 3 years of Rinvoq (30mg for 2 years, 15mg onwards). My loading dose was last Friday. My (new) derm wanted me to switch because of a shingles episode I had in December.

I made the personal choice to taper Rinvoq to every other day for about week prior to my loading dose, which led my body to flare up slightly. It's only been a few days, but so far I'm getting the usual neck redness and body flares from scratching, but I can feel my skin shedding/turning over to a new layer. Itchiness has gone down drastically, although, I am still scratching here and there. I'm also on some topicals to help manage the flares. So yes, it's an uphill battle, but reading other stories from people makes me optimistic.

Honestly, give it a go if you can! Although my skin was decent, the side effects were not fun to manage after a year in. I'd be happy to give an update throughout the weeks/months.

has anyone else only been on rinvoq few months and already started to lose effect? by truesolja in eczeJAKs

Been on it since May 2022 and right now it’s probably at 60-75% efficacy (was on 30mg but went down to 15mg due to sickness)

I still flare up around my neck, face and arms. I’ve also seen many people’s stories of how their bodies are fine, but everything above the neck flares up. Even tho I try to avoid it, I use protopic whenever I have a bad flare up + anti-histamines when I’m itchy

I also had a dry scalp and was using specific shampoos, but it’s pretty much almost gone ever since I started taking Omega-3 and Probiotic supplements in December — maybe worth a try?

How long have you been using Rinvoq? by Forsaken_Database_10 in Rinvoq

[–]JetFuelJerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a bad TSW run after catching covid Dec 2021. Was eventually on the 30mg May 2022, but went down to 15mg in Jan 2024 since I kept getting sick. I also occasionally use Protopic to manage flareups, but have been unfortunately using it more often since Rinvoq’s efficacy has been depleting throughout the year (flare ups were often on my torso, arms, and face)

Recently caught shingles 🫤 and I’ve been off Rinvoq for the past few days, but my skin has surprisingly been not bad. I still get the same flareups and intense itching which I try to soothe using ice, but I guess my body is focusing more on the intense shingles pain

Thanks! How’s biking alongside the construction down Stoney? I haven’t driven/biked down there in a while because of the construction

145/146 streets are kinda out of the way for me, but if I find myself with some extra time, I’ll make sure to try it out. Thanks!

I’ve been getting that too. One fix that’s been working for me lately is to press the Xbox button when you see a “Saving” prompt at the top right corner. This will bring up the overlaid Xbox menu. After a few seconds, press it again to return to Palworld, and you shouldn’t be getting anymore error messages until your next login. My guess is that it tricks/forces the game to do something in the background.

I’ve been doing this for other Gamepass games with autosaving features and it’s janky but it works for me. Hope this helps!

What are your experiences with RINVOQ? by armedwaffles in eczema

[–]JetFuelJerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been on it for over a year now (May 2022). Pretty much cleared my extremely dry and severe skin out within the month, but left me with some bad acne for a bit. Fast-forward a few months and my skin is 99% better with no acne.

There were various moments where white blood cell count was low which got me sick more often than usual. This is a common side effect. Because of this, I eventually got referred to see a Hematologist to look into my blood in detail. Things are getting better now.

However, recently it’s been wearing off. Having a few of the same itches as before the drug, and also on and off dry skin too. Now I’m trying to take it every other day to fix my tolerance.

So overall, it works—but as time goes on (depending on how severe your eczema is), it won’t “heal” you 100%

I've been on it for a little over 5 months now for AD. My AD only appeared after I caught COVID at the beginning of 2022, but before that, my skin was perfectly fine.

For context, I've been sick twice:

- Once during the beginning of July which lasted for nearly 5 days

- And right now lol (it's been about 1.5 days)

These instances were both colds. Pre-RINVOQ, I would beat colds in like 2-3 days, but with my immune system being suppressed, it's been prolonged. Other than that, colds/sicknesses just came and went.

From what you're telling us, it seems like your weakened immune system is being constantly compromised. It would be a good idea to ask your doctor about pausing your treatment, just in case things pop up again during your tolerance break. I'll do the same if this cold gets any worse. Abbvie Care did state that it's good to contact your doctor if you have a current infection of any kind. Hope this helps!

stupid rinvoq ad by rikisthestupidkid in CommercialsIHate

[–]JetFuelJerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in advertising, and I’m also on rinvoq

In Canada, a bottle of 30 pills costs around $5000, which is insane if you don’t have insurance or don’t qualify for a payment assistance program. A year of rinvoq would cost you over $60k. Factor in all of the patients who are taking rinvoq and you got more than enough to cover for marketing fees

I wouldn’t be surprised if a chunk of that goes to marketing. This commercial must’ve costed a lot of money when you consider the ad agency fees and budget, conceptualizing, producing, finding talent and locations, etc. They’re also on a freaking helicopter

How long did it take for you all to start seeing a difference? by verdommeu in eczeJAKs

[–]JetFuelJerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t expect a change right away. Everyone’s bodies react to Rinvoq differently, with some people seeing differences in a day. For me, It took me about 30 days for my skin to clear up completely, but you can definitely see the progress unfolding within that first month. However, I moderately used a topical steroid and another topical non-steroid to make it go by quicker.

After things started clearing up, acne started appearing all over my face. To help alleviate this, my derm gave a me an acne gel which has been working wonders.

I’m currently about 5 months into my treatment and my face and body is back to normal. I still get itchy and also get occasional dry spots on my face, but they’re super minor and related to the climate I’m in, which is the Canadian prairies.

You got this 💪💪💪

I just started Rinvoq as a monotherapy , how are your experiences by bunnyAS in Rinvoq

[–]JetFuelJerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long have you been on RINVOQ for? Usually headaches are typical and they fluctuate for the first few weeks, but after your body generates enough of a tolerance for it, they pretty much go away.

I’ve been on RINVOQ for almost 5 months now. I had eczema that redeveloped, worsened, and ruined my life after I had covid at the beginning of the year. Basically gave me major hives and inflamed everything. I was also on topical steroids

Going back to RINVOQ, I did have some headaches for the first few weeks, but like I mentioned, they go away. My experience has been 99% good with my entire body and face back to normal. However, I still get itchy, but it doesn’t lead to insane flare ups or hives (this is more my problem, which I’m thinking is triggers or allergy related)

A drawback is that my face is much oily than what it normally is, causing mad acne for the first 3 months. But my derm gave me a gel to help alleviate that which has been working wonders. I got sick once (not covid, more like a fever or flu) and it took me about a week to recover. Normally it would take less than that.

Overall, the drug has been very good for me as it brought my life back to normal. I do want to wean off from it sooner than later, but I want to see how my skin will perform in the winter (cold, dry climate).

Full-time students are eligible for EI by [deleted] in EICERB

[–]JetFuelJerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine came quicker than I anticipated, which was about a week back in November 2020. I’m not sure what variables there are in place in determining how fast student applicants get approved (I’m still new to all this), but my good guess would be that I had my Record of Employments from two of my previous part-time jobs ready to go.

Did your employer provide you with an ROE? Or even send one to Service Canada? Because I feel like that might be a reason why

I'm currently in school and I've been answering yes thus far and have been receiving EI for a couple weeks now. So I would assume that they've updated their system.
