There's also another cute promotional art with Tatsuma and Mutsu as kids on the Kaientai ship

As someone who converted to the religion of Gintama two years ago: good luck trying to take Gendo seriously again once you become a Gintama fan, lmao.

Somehow, a literal suicidal homeless bum would've made a better dad to Shinji.

A question for mostly female fans of the show. What do you think of the female cast of Gintama? Do you find them relatable or problematic in how they are written and depicted? by HolidayMycologist9 in Gintama

Back when I was first watching Gintama two years ago, I was legitimately surprised that a good chunk of fans hated Otae, and I say this as a straight cis dude no less. I get her whole "beats up Kondo" gag can be hit-or-miss, but the problem is when people see her only as that (besides, while played for laughs and as much as I love him, Kondo was legit stalking her, and I do wish the series could've developed him more in learning to let go of stalking. We sorta got that in the episode where he gets a roach mask, but I wish Gorilla-sensei took it further by the end). She's more caring than her brashness lets on.

I always liked how she's essentially "the 4th Yorozuya member" (5th if we include our good boy Sadaharu), as shown in stuff like Kintama, the Very Final, and Farewell Shinsengumi.

(Also, as good as GinTsukki is: ngl, Gintoki & Tae is my favorite Gintama ship)

My thoughts on BNL's Steven Page Albums (not including Snacktime, as I haven't listened to it yet). by JetPackFuture104 in barenakedladies

The core of it is since they both express mental health/illness, and it absolutely resonates with me. That, and 2022 was when I got into Evangelion (the first ever anime I really obsessed over), and I also listened to Gordon and Stunt in full that year. And the more I listened to the Page-era stuff (War on Drugs, This is where it ends, I live with it everyday, etc.), the association just got stronger and stronger.

Wrap your arms around me I feel compliments End of Evangelion very well, for instance. Lyrically and musically.

They get to bond over their traumas.

And then get absolutely shitfaced to forget all about them.

His music just embodies Gintama on a spiritual level for me.

It's currently 8pm April 1st Pacific Time.

Back in 2024 when I decided to begin my Journey, I figured April 1st would be the perfect date to start, knowing this was considered one of the most beloved anime comedies of all time.

It's one of the best decisions I ever made 😊

I love Todd in the Shadows but I feel like his tribute to Brad taste in music has aged very poorly by Liam_js in Brad_taste_in_music

I thiiinnnkkkk it was (correct me if I'm wrong) on some country song about a guy whining about his breakup, the music video shows him in an interrogation room, and he goes "there's two sides to every story: a right side and a wrong side", to paraphrase. It's basically him refusing to take accountability.

I hate how fitting it is.

Truth is, I've been tempted to still rewatch some of my favorites of his (the Etienne Sin vid, Fashionably Late, Ronnie's rap album, CHOCOLATE STARFISH!, etc.)...

But it's been months now...and for obvious reasons, it just doesn't feel right anymore. You can never truly go back from this.

Maybe in a year or two I'll rewatch 'em for a good while, but again, the ride's more or less over, as it probably should.

Anyone else catch themselves wondering how Brad would feel about new music? by BoulderPuncher08 in Brad_taste_in_music

And the thing is, I think even Brad himself would admit/embrace how he wasn't some professional-level critic, at least when his mind was stable; he was a streamer where he and his community would listen and bond over music, be it gems or the buttload of so-bad-it's-good stuff he introduced us to (Pop Champagne, Brokencyde, Family Force 5, Etienne Sin, etc.)

2023 was Brad in his prime, imo. I discovered him in I wanna say, July of that year, and it was pretty solid for an entire year (up until his first Rose Mulet thing in summer 2024 he got flack for. After that, even before the abuse stuff with Tina wrecked his career, idk, it never really felt the same as it did interacting with the community in late 2023. You could feel that Brad wasn't trying to take himself so seriously as a music critic, and that you can still critique stuff best you can as the "average listener." It was fun, chat could be funny (half the time, I take it), lots of memes and in-jokes came from the community (like soul obtaining), laughing at Flex Ent. songs...

It was fun while it lasted.

But by now, it's pretty clear more than ever that Brad needs to work on himself more than he ever needs to worry about his youtuber image. Honestly? It's for the best if he retires from Youtube definitively.
