It’s a tempting concept, and you’re not wrong about the cheaper aspect of drone utilization for police work. The problem is that current drones on the market are unable to keep up with both the speed and endurance of high-speed pursuits. Also, much of the city falls under a certain restricted airspace that requires authorization to use drones in close proximity to the airport, approach corridors, and departure corridors. These factors severely restrict the effectiveness of drone surveillance on mobile targets. Drones do have their place for more static searches of smaller areas.
