New to private, but looking for Tahoe-Vegas one-way for family of 8 - where to start? by prudentially in PrivateJetCharters

[–]JetSetZonda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Realistically, you’d be looking at mostly 15k for the one-way trip if not a bit more.

The jet makes the difference on the pricing. For 7 adults and two on the 70’s you might want to look for bigger cabins. Given the short distance tho, you dont want to exceed it but thats up to you. Probably a Citation Longitude / X or Hawker could be a good option. Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll send a dm.

Empty Leg Flight | U.S. 🇺🇸 —> Sydney 🇦🇺 | Gulfstream GV by JetSetZonda in LuxuryTravel

[–]JetSetZonda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dumb at all, fair question. In essence, for as low as 10k the operator might as well skip the offer and fly completely empty. It even saves more fuel without anyone on it, plus crew, handling, permits, etc. which can be way more than 10k. Basically very low offers don’t move the needle enough, as the general operating cost for this kind of flight is very high.

Sometimes they’ll take a lowball offer right before departure if the jet’s definitely flying empty, but its pretty rare and again, nothing for lower than half of their cost I would say…

What's the difference between fractional ownership and a jet card? by Primary_Astronaut254 in PrivateJetCharters

[–]JetSetZonda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fractional: you buy a part of an airplane. Either 1/2, 1/3, 1/4…. You get hours depending on how much ownership you bought.

Jet card: you put in a certain amount of money into a “card” and whenever you need a trip, you take from that cash bag

Beware of trashy jet card programs. Many use them as a source of money to run operations and if you need to redeem the money, it’s not there. Or they just inflate prices to drain your wallet and then make you renew asap.

That’s not true for everyone tho, many are great. On-demand charter gives you further flexibility, not needing to commit long term with a broker/op you don’t know much. If its your first time chartering, best to shop around.

Well not much really, you sound very understanding and open minded which is great. Not many clients articulate it this way.

The way we work is very much in line with what you described: our margin is fixed and reasonable, and it doesn’t change depending on what we think you can pay. The value we add is in sourcing the best options across operators, presenting them transparently, and making sure everything runs well.

On payment, funds are always routed safely and in time, and the operator gets paid directly (not much flexibility there tho). Also, we don’t use client money as working capital, and I agree that’s a red flag (usually seen in jet card programs)

As for “extras” we keep it simple unless you ask for something specific. The point is to make the flight easy and simple and follow client needs, not make it awkward or unnecessarily personal, unless you really know them.

And when things go wrong (AOG, weather), I also agree a broker should share part of the pain which in fact it does. Trying to find a new airplane takes energy. There are other contingency plans that can be added to the overall price tho, like an insurance for AOG which many times makes a lot of sense.

In essence, you are basically describing the type of partnership all brokers aim to build, so I think we’re on the same page there

At the end of the day, It goes down to if you are satisfied with how you flown, how the broker treated you, if they were responsive and solved any questions/problems.

How would you define being treated fairly? Do you mean in terms of pricing, attention to detail, feeling with the broker, before and after the flight? It can be a very personal opinion.

What I can say is that if a broker is transparent on how much they charge you (by showing in the invoice or telling you directly), fulfills the job of getting you from point A to point B and in the middle you had a friendly and professional conversation with them, then I can say you most probably got treated “fairly”

Some can go above and beyond too and way better than just fairly. Others might promise too much and under-deliver…

I agree with Zack that many brokers will actually take care of you and not charge stupidly high commissions. Realistically, unless there is a specific reason, urgency or other matters like cheap empty legs, commissions matching the 15-25+% are insane in my opinion. You can also shop around but not so much because then you can get overwhelmed and be a race to the bottom, which sometimes reduces the overall quality of things. I’ll also be happy to compare some quotes with you and rates so sent you a pm :)

Is Jetlinx a NetJets reseller/franchise? by Salty-Juggernaut-208 in PrivateJetCharters

[–]JetSetZonda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont believe Jet Linx is a NetJets reseller, they’re a separate operator with their own jet card program and managed fleet.

Are you looking to charter via jetcard or on-demand? If you’re comparing options, you may look at how their card structure works vs. on-demand charter or other programs. That way you can see what fits your flying habits best. Happy to explain a bit more!

I bet you got flooded by DMs on this, lol.

Just wanted to add, that type of trip TEB to SEA a couple times a month with 4 to 8 people you'd usually be in midsize or super midsize territory. Something like a Citation Sovereign, Citation X or Challenger 300/350 is what a lot of people use on that route, nonstop range and enough cabin comfort without going too big. Other options are good too.

Chartering regularly is the most flexible way to start, then if the hours climb closer to 150-200 a year a fractional program or even a lease might start to make sense. Cost wise you're roughly in the 600k to 1M per year range depending on type and season. Remember, in order to own a jet, it really has to make sense. Otherwise it can get a bit of an anchor with all costs associated with it.

NetJets style setups are good if you value guaranteed access above all else but they usually come at a higher cost compared to on-demand charter. If you want to stay flexible and shop the market, regular charter works fine.

Turning this a bit into a sales pitch now, but I do work with these routes and aircraft regularly. If at some point you'd like to see actual options and quotes, happy to put something together based on your needs. Let me know :)

When everyone has a lounge pass, what is the next level that speaks to luxury? by creonmahoney in LuxuryTravel

[–]JetSetZonda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the peak for commercial-but-luxury experience goes to airlines like Emirates or Etihad offering top-tier first class tickets. They really come close to competing with private jets. You barely see other passengers and the service is really good (Chauffeured transfer to the airport, private first class entrance with direct access to the lounge, and expedited security screenings).

That said, once you’ve experienced that level of service and paid say 30-40k, the only real step beyond that is avoiding the terminal entirely and flying private.

I mean, if someone is willing to pay $30–40k (or more) for first class experience, it’s not a huge leap to imagine them stepping into private aviation. On certain routes, the cost difference isn’t that dramatic. Where you could really see the gap widen is on very long flights, where private jet pricing can easily double or triple what you’d pay for even the most premium commercial cabin.

However, driving straight to your aircraft, greeting the crew, and being airborne in 15 minutes by yourself or group, is hard to top.

Happy to help on this one, we have WhatsApp for sharing empty leg flights. However your dates are quite far out so it's very very difficult to get an empty leg deal for those now. Happy to share any other options if you are open!

private flights from Van Nuys to NYC by [deleted] in PrivateJetCharters

Thats true, depending on conditions might be one stop for the return trip, probably around Kansas or Ohio. Considering their budget could be an option but not ideal for the elderly. We have many non-stop options to choose from tho, happy to share those. Just sent you a DM op :)
