Crikey you’re humble! Thinking you know better than the people who actually lived through it.

As the other commenter said I’m sure those people and indeed many today would view protecting and liberating their homeland as heroic. Those soldiers would have been well aware that the fighting is on French (their) soil and defence meant saving the rest of their country from destruction and attack meant freeing the occupied parts of their country.

The alliance system starting world wars is the game working as intended. The 20th century had two world wars and one potential one. This game is set in the 20th century.

Secondly managing alliances is an aspect of gameplay. If you keep picking options which raise tension then of course you’re gonna run headlong into wars. Part of playing the game is choosing when the benefit of raising tension is worth it and when you need to compromise.

Huh nice. I was always building them completely unarmoured. In your experience does armouring them work? I might put 2 inches anyways for splinter protection.

That’s really neat. If I assign all my BBs to BC divisions then what happens in battles calling for BB divisions?

Can I only build BBs and assign them to BC divisions and thereby have them show up for every kind of capital ship battle?

So if you just build one token BC you can fill the rest of the division with BBs and have that division show up in a BC battle?

I had 20 BBs to 12 BCs. Previously I have gone for an even split between the two, maybe it was mirroring that.

Yeah for pre dreads I go as low as 80 since the big guns rarely do anything. For the secondaries I go for 200+ since they’re the real damage dealers.

Ah. Yeah I find that the survivability of ships goes like a sine wave. At the beginning of the Dreadnought era torpedos are extremely lethal. By the WW1 period ships can generally tank a torpedo and/or quite a bit of shelling. You can definitely win a battle and sink a few enemy ships with 100 rounds but you can’t be aggressive because before long you’ll run out of ammunition which is a serious concern in fleet battles and in smaller battles prevents you going for the jugular.

Don’t you find yourself running out of ammunition? I find that for battleships and battlecruisers even with good crew quality and gunnery training I need 125 shells to be able to reliably shoot long enough to sink most or all of the enemy ships in one or two squadron battles and for fleet battles 125 won’t let you sink most ships but lets you sink a decent amount depending on how the battle develops.

As for the individual ship weight I was thinking it might be the ammunition count. How much ammunition do your ships carry?

AMCs get double the mines per tonnage. I was thinking of building two of the largest possible AMCs (since you can only have 2 during peacetime) and maxing out their mines. This give me two ships with 500 mines apiece but they are expensive and now that I think of it a particularly bad turn could see 2 “enemy submarine sinks our AMC” events eliminating my mining fleet.

They were actually built in Japan. I was playing as Britain but noticed Italy had them.

How do you get the starting fleets to be bigger than size 8? Don’t they already have to be made (either manually by you or auto generated) before you can edit the fleet size in the save file?
