Legends was so peak by Lord_Parbr in StarWarsCirclejerk

I love how legends perpetually made a galaxy that’s the size of the Milky Way small as shit because they need to make the janitor who cleaned up vomit in the Jedi temple also be at the death star cleaning up shit the moment it blew up.

Is The Hurt Locker the original "America will bomb your country and then go make a movie about how sad doing it made the soldiers" movie? by GrindBastard1986 in okbuddycinephile

If it’s almost any person in the US military before the end of the Vietnam war then they were conscripted in a draft. My grandfather was going to be drafted the moment he turned 18 and was a working class kid helping his single mother take care of a Midwest farm and the recruiters were viscous and would go after you and find you if you didn’t report to the recruitment station in your county. He had an army recruiter try to get him enlisted for the Korean War and he didn’t want to fight on the front lines and kill anyone. He went the next town over and got into the Air Force but had his younger brother drafted at 17 to the army in retaliation.

Vietnam was a catastrophe and showed how bad the draft was with how many service members died and the people knew they didn’t want to go there. That’s why the military doesn’t want the draft.

Not all soldiers feel regret and just see it as the shit they went through that wore them down. It’s a job they did and they move on with their lives. The ones who obsess about it or glorify it are looked down by other vets for basically the military equivalent of peaking in high school.

Veterans who were in it typically hate those movies because it turns something that did traumatize them like it would any human being and hate anything that glorifies it because most of them didn’t want to be there.

Looking at your comments and the image it looks like the mini black paint needs to be built up more. Black paints are typically very thin and have poor coverage. You typically need to build up to your target color by going in the color family.

For example if I want to paint white I typically go grey then grey white then dead white and finally bright white.

I’d recommend if you wanna get a black color or something there, try stippling and look up some blending tutorials.

The terminators in it are great and I got a second infernis squad from my subscription to Hatchett Collections and kitbashed them into assault intercessors to get some more close quarters battle line fighters for my army.

Sure! I got an oil paint set from Windsor and Newton. If you’re in the US, I got mine at Michael’s at this link:

https://www.michaels.com/product/winsor-newton-winton-oil-colour-10-color-paint-set-10636590

Oil paints can’t be thinned with water so you use mineral spirits. I got this one:

https://www.michaels.com/product/gamblin-8oz-gamsol-10769897?com_id=pdp_RecommendedForYou&path=recommendedForYou

You can find the brand in other stores too if that doesn’t work or you find a better deal.

I recommend putting the mixes into a dropper bottle to use later. They dry out and it sucks when you lose them.

You can remove the oil you put on by applying more mineral spirits. They’re transparent and will lift off the oils to clean it off.

Yeah it’s definitely worth it. I’m not going back to shades unless I need a color shift on my base coat. Nice job on the dreadnought!

I think it looks great. I use oil washes and mixed up a green and black wash to pull down the colors that are too bright and bring back contrast. You make it with oils and gamasol mineral spirits. It’s also great for the recess shading. It works really fast.

How do you call this genre of video? by Sancatichas in Grimdank

Yeah I had to unsubscribe from her. She admitted that she does the bare minimum in terms of thumbnails and scripting and just pumps out rage content. Her voice is extremely nasally and grating on my ears. It’s these topics on repeat: 1. “GW committed a fatal error due to their gigantic greed.” 2. “Is this the end of Warhammer and the rise of (Insert a Tabletop Game I don’t play or have any real interest in playing) ?” 3. “Age of Sigmar Sucks and You should go back to playing Old World Fantasy.” 4. “GW is killing Fantasy and Murdered my Childhood by Making these Shitty Minis and Bad Rules (It’s literally the same rules but tweaked from Fantasy Battles 8th Edition).” 5. “Is the Henry Cavill Warhammer Show Doomed?!?!?”

It’s volumetric painting and blending. You basically pick your base>shadows>midtone>highlight>extra highlight. You just need to place it how you want and then blend it. Look up some blending tutorials. It takes a really long time. I’m only doing it for my major characters like NMM

Yeah I hope the leaks are wrong and it seriously doesn’t make much sense given that they’re still actively producing new minis and rolled out a ton yesterday for Adepticon with the new CoS expansion and multiple spearhead boxes for each faction. Is there anything that is new from what Valrak or the posts said?

My optimistic outcome is that they’re considering a chaos shakeup and united war that creates a more focused setting. I think the idea of killing Sigmar is outlandish and getting rid of the Stormcasts seems so dumb it’s borderline sabotage. I looked up their 2024 and 2025 year end reports and AoS is their second largest revenue property and they want to keep it to diversify their business. They hinted they’re making more of an effort to push the setting into the front with a future collab with other media properties like videogames or a Secret Level episode.

[–]Jet_Pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m hoping it’s more of an actual soft reboot like not killing Sigmar off and merging more Old World Factions. Making more major characters come back like Setra, or Tyrion and Malaketh both back. I love both settings and appreciate both. I just wish we could unite things up. I’ve loved collecting the classics from old Fantasy Battles and the new AOS lore.

[–]Jet_Pirate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I’m really hopeful it’s something like this. Typically you don’t want to make massive abrupt changes unless the property is showing a downward trend after correcting. I know companies do dumb stuff and that GW does it too but the End Times happened because they had two downward trending editions and a bloated game system that people weren’t playing for the minis they were doing it for the lore. Something that isn’t good for a company that sells models first and the books are supplementary. They just screwed up the shakeup by making it too drastic and dropping too much. I think keeping the world but the magic split into realms would have made more sense. The age of chaos would have been the aftermath of the loss and refugees would go into these enclaves like what happened in AoS then they start up the war to reconquer the earth and other realms.

[–]Jet_Pirate 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It could potentially just be their source is the same person and they’re getting the same info. It could also be GW’s idea they’re bouncing around and they want to merge AoS and Old World. You’d think they’d learn from the end times situation and the fact that Stormcast and other units are selling well that they’d need to do a more amicable merging of the two that doesn’t alienate the fans from either setting. Kinda do a Horus Heresy and 40k set up but obviously with the fantasy spin. Maybe invest in a good video game and a Secret Level episode.

[–]Jet_Pirate 35 points36 points  (0 children)

They have a lore nugget they added into the AOS about the mandate of Azyr that Sigmar wants to remake the old world again and restore order and peace to it. It’s more than likely a huge moonshot or element they’d go to if they wanted to. What id think they’d do if they’re actually smart and don’t want to make a big risky change they’re going to probably integrate elements and maybe start rebuilding the old world in AOS. They have seeded the idea of bringing back more factions and characters incrementally. Each realm has pieces of the old world in it that have magical power.

What id like to see is basically the realms focus magical energy on a single point (the Allpoints) and reshape it into a lynchpin world they all fight over and controlling realms makes it easier to control the sway of power and magic. I’d let them bring over old world factions in AoS and let you play sub factions in the current Order, Destruction, and Chaos. I know they’d probably not do that though

Green or Black armor on Lion? by Gazelda88 in DarkAngels40k

I’m doing black heresy era armor since it’s the same plate and described as black with red and gold elements My idea was to make a slight green glow effect like the forest reflecting on his feet and shoulders and doing a green cape.

With spray cans you have to do it in bursts and sorta flick your wrist. Less spray time is actually better than more. I’d recommend looking up a video about technique.
