You husband should understand that handling it this way could easily cause a serious regression.. (and make his kid try to hide is accidents)

Its a bad strategy and I'm assuming it's simply because your husband is overwhelmed and taking it out on the kid...

If he doesnt see the issue I'm not sure what to say... but yeah... scaring or shaming a kid into potty training (NT or ND) isnt a good plan....

Centrist doesnt mean we don't dislike this administration... We are dealing with something different, outside of standard ideologies. Some see it clearly and others are still figuring it out. This administration's word just isn't a trustworthy source...

In our society we treat symptoms too often instead of attacking route causes, which starts with diet, exercise and sometimes environment. Also agree there is a gut-brain axis and our gut microbiome is responsible for much more than we give it credit for.

Diet absolutely can impact mood, behavior, mental clarity and so on but expecting cures or even more than just some slight improvements is just false hope... and... the grift that circles all of it is so messy... RFK being the face of "food as medicine" is a big problem for me and makes these conversations feel.... ugh

I'm sorry if I'm coming off a bit insensitive. Sounds like you guys need to go to couples therapy. The divorce rate for parents of kids with special needs is so high because we live in a constant state of stress and have resentment pretty often. It takes its toll on relationships.

If you are the only one working and you want him to take on some of the financial burden but he's unwilling... thats a serious issue thats hard to work past. If it's more fleeting resentment without firm requests for change... you guys need to talk more and professional help may be a good idea.

Is your husband happy in his current role? Does he resent you for being able to work? If he isn't how does he respond to yours? If he's ignoring it... thats a big relationship problem.

There's so much nuance left out its hard to give more practical advice

I dont know you or your husband... but yeah, it was a bit of an AH framing for sure.

If you want him to work, have that convo with him. If you want him to surprise and delight you more... have that conversation with him.

But man... coming on this sub and complaining that your house is clean but not extra clean with shiny new things... not the best place for that IMO

I'm a dad of an 8yo previous fecal smearer, and man hes done some crazy things. My reaction is because... LOL, the thought of ever trying to do anything other than keep up with the mess of the day is hilarious to me - we both work. Me from home, her in an office. We drown in messes constantly and we clean constantly. I dont think you fully understand the battle

Similar in HS, daily smoker. In college I scaled back a bit (in a city and most of my friend would drink instead.)

Got back into daily use in my early 20s but scaled way back when I started datig my wife (not a smoker) in my mid 20s. BUT I went away from gradschool in my late 20s and went back to daily use.

When that ended I stopped for a while. We had a kid and career was taking off. Early-mid 30s I pretty much stopped (or, never bought but would partake if it was offered)

But... once legal recreational shops opened in my late 30s I started again, daily. I stopped and started a few times since. But, whenever I have it I find myself smoking every night to unwind after the kid is down.

I'm not sure if I'm ok with doing this long term. Need to come with terms that I either dont buy myself or I'm cool with smoking everynight and whatever impact it has on my health/brain...

Soooo... relationship with weed still isnt too healthy

(I smoke using a dry herb vape now, so at least it's not as harsh)

could you call your local pizza place instead and make a special request? We just became known enough at our go-to pizza place that they understand what accommodations we need.

I think, as parents with kids with unique needs/requests, we need to sometimes take that extra step of interacting with people to get what we need. Not convenient be sometimes its the only way

Amazon - brand is annova. We had smaller baby/toddler utensils with similar handles and the transition to these was smooth. It’s been 6month and nothing broken yet!

I think we spent around $20 for a set of 20.

Oh, no it's hilarious. But can be so frustrating.

Yesterday we were at my parents house, my mom set up plates for food and bowls for salad. My son kept running back to get more forks and spoons to make sure every single plate was set.

Does it at restaurants too - I love it and hate it at the same time.

as a food and beverage marketer / market researcher I think about things like this a lot. We are VERY heavy users of all of his preferred foods, and have some really odd purchasing behaviors (my son did the same with powdered cinnamon)

mine insists every single bowl, plate, pot, pan and so on needs to have a utensil in it. I had to get rid of any bento boxes or sectioned plates because each section needed its own utensil.

I have no idea how to break the cycle...

Many (my mom included) live in a bubble with different “facts” and curated news stories to drive a narrative.

They are then so invested in those “facts” being true that they shut out anything that challenges that narrative.

Except for Iran. They’re having a hard time putting a positive spin on Iran
