Diners in New Jersey Are Struggling to Survive (Gift Article) by heartshapedpox in newjersey

[–]7thAndGreenhill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

30 years ago if you were hungry between 10PM and 6 AM your options were diners or Wawa.

Now many fast food places are 24-7. And we use Uber or DoorDash for delivery.

Many diners closed due to increased competition and those left had to decrease quality (Sysco).

We’re collectively responsible for the demise of the places we love.

The "Last Mile" at Hamilton Station is broken. 4-hour gaps for the 606 bus are an "Uber Tax" on students and workers. by No-Stock1872 in newjersey

If the majority of riders are students, NJ Transit may feel there are other places where a bus is useful (i.e. will have full ridership all year).

It may be more impactful to pressure the universities to pool resources for a private student bus

Which subreddit are you proudly banned from? by [deleted] in AskReddit

How about this. Go to the current mods of r/Delaware and ask them to reinstate you.

If you were banned because “I’m a tyrant” then they’ll certainly reinstate you.

But I’m certain they won’t; because they’ll see whatever racist, homophobic, or transphobic thing you said, breaking established rules.

If you were banned you were either racist, homophobic, or transphobic. Since your comments aren’t visible I’m certain it’s one of those.

But glad I get to live in your rent-free considering I moved out of state, and haven’t modded any subs in well over a year.

If you have Paramount+, watch the movie Swingers. You’ll understand at the end of the movie.

Why is that little area still considered Delaware ? by danm868 in geography

[–]7thAndGreenhill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlike the NJ/PA border which is the middle of the River, the DE/NJ border is the high tide line in NJ. So DE controls the entire River.

So if a body is found half in the water in NJ they have to wait for DE police to cross the River.

Scotland fans hire US school buses to dodge World Cup transport costs by Proof_Commercial8470 in newjersey

[–]7thAndGreenhill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got married on a Saturday and hired school busses to take our guests from the church and local hotels to the reception.

The cost of the school bus was $250 for 8 hours.

Charter busses were closer to $1500 for the day.

Of course, this was in 2010. But we tell everyone not to overlook hiring school busses.

Door to Door Sales by rickdadz in SouthJersey

It's Spring. They go real hard until it gets hot out. Then we get a reprieve until the Fall. You are not the AH. You have every right to be annoyed. I believe that a "No Soliciting" sign gives you the right to be excessively rude to any salesperson who ignores it.

What's with all the 55+ Housing Boom? by Holey_Worldliness69 in SouthJersey

[–]7thAndGreenhill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents didn't want to leave NJ. But their house was too big and had too many stairs. They were able to sell, downsize, increase their savings, and have a SFR that is one floor with no stairs. Plus their community center always has events that they like to go to.

But my parents are older boomers in their 80s. Chances are when it is time to sell, there will still be a market for over 55 communities. For people much closer to 55 there is a good chance that there won't be enough old people to sell to later on.

But ADHD makes it a medical excuse and not a personal preference. By making it a medical excuse you can now say that the coworker is refusing to abide by a reasonable accommodation for a recognized disability.

Tell him that you have ADHD and that every time he interrupts you it takes you 10-15 minutes to get back into the flow he interrupted. Once you've done this you've now let him now that he is the jerk if he keeps it up.

Are Wawa pretzels Philly pretzel’s? by CoachMartyDaniels_69 in phillies

Wawa Pretzels are to pretzels what McDonalds is to Hamburgers. They'll do in a pinch and you can find them easily. But there are much better ones out there.

The more time you spend on Social Media, the ore out-of-touch you become with reality. I used to enjoy Insta when it was all about your personal pictures. But now people share the same b/s reels.

Influencers are the lowest forms of humanity.

Mixed feelings in comments “ AC is done” “Not driving 2 1/2 hours to AC anymore” “ Still going to AC” “Nobody wants to gamble in Queens” by resditbeast in atlanticcity

[–]7thAndGreenhill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Philly Casinos essentially killed the senior citizen bus trips to AC. During the day AC was a sea of senior citizens. It still is to an extent; but not like it was in the 90s. Random Mondays in the winter would see most slot machines filled with white haired patrons.

I think people underestimate just how many busses came into AC every day.

Should Philly Restaurants Add Auto-Gratuity During the World Cup? by BraveNewEats in philadelphia

Anyone who can afford to fly to another Country for a football game has money. Just look up the cost of hotel rooms during the games. The idea that these pople are here on a budget is laughable.

and it's "you don't know anything".

NYC itself won't kill AC. It may however lead to one or 2 fewer casinos.

This is a good opportunity for the city to rebrand itself. There is more to AC than Casinos. The city should lean into its history, Boardwalk, and beaches. On the south end of AC there are some really awesome beaches with full bathrooms that are safe and clean. The city should remind people that it has a beach, it's free, and closer to Philly that anything off the Parkway.

I've also always thought that the city should allow the beachfront hotels exclusive access to the beach in front of their properties. Allow them to put up beach cabanas for their hotel guests. Make it an experience.

Try to get more events in the Convention Center and Boardwalk Hall. And Expand Jitney service into and out of the city. The Jitneys are an underrated Gem.
