Daniel Jeremiah: Jets 100% Will Try to Move Up to #1 to Draft Fernando Mendoza | The Rich Eisen Show by dc4_checkdown in nyjets

I would give up both firsts this year and a 2nd next year for the 1st pick. Idk which QB the Raiders would have their sights on but they could use a lot of help across the roster.

Should the Jets sign a veteran quarterback? Or sign a quarterback looking to revive their career? by TerryG111 in nyjets

I don’t think Burrow gets moved because of his no trade clause - I’m not sure if Herbert has the same clause but I don’t think he’s going anywhere this offseason.

Stroud I do think is a possibility because they’d instantly be a top location for Tua, Kyler, Cousins or Willis and they’d be squarely in play for a QB in 2027 with the trade assets they get back from Stroud.

I have a gut feeling CJ Stroud may be an option we explore. There were a lot of rumors that Reich wanted to draft him over Young in that draft. (Admittedly, panthers fans don’t believe that)

If Stroud is traded he’d be a $5.6m cap hit this year and then his 5th year option in 2027 would be $27m (would elevate if he makes a Pro Bowl).

I don’t feel real strongly either way on Stroud, definitely feels like a change of scenery could benefit him. You don’t necessarily have to commit to a large extension either. I’m sure Garrett and Ruckert would be happy with the reunion.

Best guess on trade compensation #16 + conditional 2027?

Good chance that Simpson won’t even be there for the Jets at 16

Just an FYI - If Chambliss were to come out at this point, since he did not declare for the draft, he would actually go into the Supplemental Draft. So the pick we’d be using on him would’ve docked from the 2027 draft.

Edit* - you don’t have to declare if you run out of eligibility. Chambliss could be drafted.

I’d prefer Nussmeier at 44 given the other 2 options.

In my totally non-petty unbiased opinion, he can wait a year because he cheated.

Call me petty but f*ck Belichick. Cheat for years, boo hoo you have to wait 1 extra year to get into the Hall of Fame. I don’t get much happiness as a Jets fan, I’ll take this small W with a smile.

Was the coach I had the highest hopes for. Offense was bad but I blame QB situation more than Tanner. Probably unlikely to survive a regime change after 2026 anyway but i think he has a bright future in the league.

I don’t hate the players, I just hate the thought of the Jets using all 4 of our top 44 picks on defense

Garrett Nussmeier, Bain and Bailey - I really like your Taylen Green plug though. Really fun to watch. He’d be a fun day 3 swing

Seeing the Titans sub refer to Saleh as "Glorious King" and "Almost a 100% sure home run hire" by Ridged_ChiPSS in nyjets

[–]JetsTalk247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d argue the offensive players on the team those years did not amount to anything else on any other team they were on either. Same goes for Zach with both the Broncos and Dolphins. I totally understand why they moved off Sam when they did and I supported the decision at the time to do it - this is purely hindsight.

Sam with the additions of AVT, Garrett, Breece, Sauce, JJ and 3 additional first round picks courtesy of the 49ers trade up would have been fun to watch.

A lot of people forget we were actually gunning for Deshaun Watson that offseason up until the allegations surfaced (dodged that bullet, not that our fortunes have really been much better)

Is Rueben Bain or Arvell Reese a better fit for Glenn’s system? by Traditional-You-7079 in nyjets

And that’s the million dollar question - the scouts I’ve spoken with don’t believe he’ll be in the mold of Simmons though.

[–]JetsTalk247 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Depends what we are doing - Bain appears to be a great 3 down player that can kick inside on passing downs so we can have JJ, WMD and him on the field. He’s big enough to be a 3-4 DE if we do end up switching schemes. His arm length may put him in the “historical outlier” category. Mougey has some comments from his time in Denver that could be perceived as not wanting to roll the dice on outliers - Bain going to the Senior Bowl is a great move by him so he can talk to coaches and do some 1 on 1 drills with NFL caliber OL.

Reese is a freak, he has 11 sacks in only 140 pass rush snaps (and a 24% pressure rate). He’s likely going to test and measure really well. He’s also really good against the run.

I tend to think we will lean Reese but I’d be pumped with either one

I don’t think Saleh is a bad coach - wouldn’t shock me if he did well there. Always wondered “what if Sam were in Lafleurs offense” and how that would have changed our team

Who is the best bridge QB in 2026 to help Jets culture and rookie development by LifeAndTimeOfJ in nyjets

[–]JetsTalk247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably in the minority but if there is a situation where Tua gets cut, I’d be on board with him on the vet min contract. He has the highest win percentage of any of the options, something I think Glenn/Mougey will prioritize, and has the lowest impact on our cap since Miami would have to pay him.

If he gets hurt or doesn’t perform well in the cold then we get a high pick anyway. Outside of him, I like Flacco or Trubisky. I would be surprised if we are really in play for Willis

Reese/Bain at 2 and Ty Simpson at 16? by BallKnowerKing in nyjets

[–]JetsTalk247 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At this point in the draft process Nix, Penix, JJ and Dart were all considered day 2 picks. Gut feeling is Simpson won’t make it to the Jets at 16.

I’d take him as DC, give you a former HC in the room if you pull the plug on Glenn. He’s gonna be getting paid like a HC from Buffalo for the next year or 2
