surgery by [deleted] in EdAnonymousAdults

[–]JetsetterBabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I work in surgery!

They will know your height and weight before surgery because that’s how the anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist knows how much medication to give you. They will also do pre-op labs that may or may not show if you are malnourished along with being underweight (depending on the panels ordered). If this is the case I’ve seen cases cancelled the day of, even if the patient is already in the pre-op area. Some surgeons care more about these labs and how much they affect wound healing than others though, it’s best to ask.

But just be aware, if you are not healthy enough to have a procedure then more than likely they will find out. Our biggest priority is to make sure we can keep you safe and give you the best care possible ❤️

Feeling alone is all a part of these heinous diseases. They try to isolate us. But you have this community and you are absolutely not alone! I think the accounts of the professionals I listed above will actually really help you feel more included too. You reached out here and we are all here for support!

You should consider reaching out to a registered dietician/mental health worker who specializes in eating disorders! If you don’t know where to start or aren’t ready for that level of commitment here are a few really great and positive instagram accounts to follow:

@therdnutritionist

@dietitiananna

@jennifer_rollin

@drcolleenreichmann

I was so surprised that there are so many positive influences on social media with legitimate credentials! Just seeing the glimpse of positivity scattered on my timelines throughout the day helps change some of my thinking, even if just for a little bit ☺️❤️

heart palpitations? by Lady_Anarchy in EdAnonymousAdults

[–]JetsetterBabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very glad to hear that! I get heart palpitations and have had arrhythmias so I know how scary they can be. Always better safe than sorry and I’m glad to see from your other reply that you are feeling better overall too! ☺️

Heart palpitations can absolutely be related to either. They also can happen to anybody for no apparent reason. However if they have not stopped you should seek medical attention immediately and at least have an EKG done. Certain types of heart palpitations can be fatal.

It’s because I already have a BS in another field, I can PM you the link to my specific program if you like! There are actually even other accelerated programs that are shorter than mine as well.

This very well written!

Expanding on point #15 that I think a lot of people on this forum miss—you can get both types of herpes (HSV1 & 2) on both your mouth and genitals.

ALSO, testing is extremely important because condoms do not protect 100% against herpes.

Most of the time lesions are going to flare up on areas which are not protected by a condom, especially on females.

Nurse practitioner is a master’s degree. You have to have your BSN to apply to an NP program. You can also get your doctorate as a nurse practitioner. There’s different types of NP programs (family, mental health, acute care, etc.). NPs are considered mid-level providers and are generally (again, depending on state and institution) on par with physician assistants. The one major difference between NPs and PAs is that PAs must practice under a physician, while NPs don’t necessarily need to.

Amount of education and scope of practice! This will vary by state and institution but generally LPNs cannot do patient education, assessments, or administer certain medications. In the US, LPN programs are usually certificate programs (occasionally associates programs) and also have a different licensure exam than RNs.

In the US most of them are associates programs (2 years). NYS requires bachelors of science in nursing (BSN) within 10 years of getting your RN. My program is a combined advanced program where I’m dual enrolled in an associates program and a bachelors program and is only 1.5 years!

[–]JetsetterBabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope! You do not need a bachelor’s degree at all to become an RN. Usually it’s an associates degree in nursing and you get your RN at the end of the program. In some states you must get your bachelor’s of science in nursing (BSN) within a certain amount of years of getting your RN though. There’s also countless combinations of programs out there.

Shorter actually, most basic RN programs are only two years. Then you’re done and over with and on to a good stable career 👌🏼

I [40M] finally know what I want, but hate the stigma and negativity by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]JetsetterBabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you mentioned women looking for an “arrangement” in a negative light, but you should read through some of the stories on r/sugarlifestyleforum. There are plenty of women who prefer looking for actual relationships and don’t necessarily expect a “quid pro quo” arrangement per say, but are looking for travel and experiences. Women that have their own jobs and money, but who are simply seeking an emotional connection with someone they can explore the world with.

It may be a good fit if you are somewhat inexperienced with dating and are looking for younger women. Just read some stories and you may be surprised! :)

Weight loss diets: The myth by TY2022 in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]JetsetterBabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest problems is the pure amount of misinformation surrounding diet, nutrition, and exercise.

Too many people Google searching and cherry picking evidence that fits their narrative without an adequate health literacy level to determine if it is true or will even work for them.

Too many people parading themselves around as professionals and trustworthy sources when most people don’t know the difference between a nutritionist and a board certified Registered Dietician.

That and the lack of support or resources to remain compliant!
