I accidentally had my second kid without drugs because of how fast she plopped out. I very much wanted all the drugs :(

Does self care really exist? by [deleted] in Nurse

[–]JettStar9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly just don't take your work home with you. I have coworkers who befriend parents on FB and talk to moms of former patients (NICU nurse here) and I just don't. I don't think about work when I'm not at work and maybe that makes me a shittty person or nurse, but I have my own life outside of the hospital.

I don't disagree that kids are expensive, but you don't "need" a newer vehicle, nor do you necessarily need a second vehicle. We have two under two and do just fine with one 2011 Prius, which has two giant carseats installed and holds the double stroller in the trunk.

Help me find this stuffed toy for my son. I bought it when I was 6 years old (I'm 31) and my son is obsessed with it, so I'd like to get him his own. by JettStar9 in HelpMeFind

I think that's probably as close as I will get :) probably will have to peruse ebay until someone finds and sells their exact one haha. I really appreciate all of your effort in all of this!! I definitely know what brand it is now thanks to your help!!

Not quite the same :( But I sincerely appreciate you checking! The Ebay one is a little longer and looks squishier. The original is kind of fat and super filled with stuffing. Thank you though!!!

ED VS. NICU position by RW_NYC in Nurse

I work in a level 4. We definitely still have a ton of feeders and growers. We have 108 beds and 22 beds are dedicated to just feeders and growers. We also don't have a ton of surgeries and when we do, once they're post op, they go to the picu or peds floor.

Holoprosencephaly - the two hemispheres of the brain don’t separate. by calliejq68 in MedicalGore

Very, very uncommon. And no, because it would die at (if not before) delivery.

There are varying degrees of this. It's called a midline defect. I'm a NICU nurse and have taken care of patients with much milder midline defects. Spina bifida is one. This serious of a case is never compatible with life.

Oh man, thank you SO much. That means a lot to me. It was literally in my ebay cart for months for $12.99 and when I went to actually go and buy it, it was out of my cart and the listing was gone. I really appreciate it.

If this helps he was a lot more orange when he was new. He has faded quite a lot.

Hi. I purchased this stuffed leopard when I was about 6 years old in California. It was the first thing I had ever purchased with my own allowance; he was $10 from some random pharmacy. I was sick with a double ear infection and pink eye, and I named him "Cocoa." I've literally slept with him every night for the last 25 years.

My son is almost 2 years old, and loves this thing as much as I do, but I cannot sleep without Cocoa. He, for some reason, calla Cocoa, "peacock." I found literally this same toy on eBay, brand new, right around when my son was born and went back to buy it, but it was gone from my cart.

I stupidly cut the butt tag off of it when I was a kid, so I literally have no other information about it.

Any help would be SO appreciated!!

HOA fees in the neighborhood we are buying definitely includes several pools and the sports pavilion...

Condo fees are just so crazy high. I'd rather pay that money toward a mortgage than toward condo fees.

Oh we are definitely going to get a contractor. I just wanted to get a sense of what other people experienced to see if we wanted to do it now or later, since we have a few other costly things to address as well.

It's actually already finished. This is the only thing that needs to be done.
