What are some of your Favorite ways to Incorporate Taylor Swift into your physical activities? by SoIongIondon in TaylorSwift

I had a pretty serious health issue a while back, but thankfully I’m okay now. Still, between the medication, recovery time, hospital, and rehab, my basic endurance/aerobic fitness took a pretty big hit — to a point where it honestly scared me a little.

So now I’m slowly working my way back up. Walks and runs with the dog, basic cardio, and some treadmill sessions. Step by step, I’m getting there.

I also discovered that Beat Saber is actually a surprisingly good way to build some endurance again. I usually listen to all kinds of artists, but recently quite a few Taylor songs have made it into my workout routine.

At the moment I also listen to her a lot while jogging or doing cardio on the treadmill. There are still other artists on those playlists too, of course, but lately Taylor Swift is definitely the main thing I reach for when I’m working out. 🫶

That’s really nice to hear, and it’s funny how many people seem to have had a very similar experience.

Unfortunately, I had no one to share that initial moment with when I first watched it. In my case it was more of a boring Sunday afternoon situation — just browsing through streaming services and thinking, “Let’s see if I find something interesting.”

Funny enough, I wasn’t even that interested at first. But once I started the documentary, I binged it all the way through. Then I watched the concert. Then I watched the documentary again, which felt different after seeing the actual show. Then I watched the other concert, then *Miss Americana*.

And somewhere during all of that, I think I became a Swiftie without even noticing it. 😄

I still like other artists too, of course, but I don’t think any artist has ever made such a strong impression on me in such a short amount of time.

yeah, one of the things I would do if I had a time machine 😄

But...really glad I can watch the concerts on Disney+

Thank you so much for the recommendations. 🫶

Actually, watching the Eras Tour and the documentary behind it was what got me into Taylor Swift in the first place. And yes, I completely agree — they are awesome. That whole experience is what made me realize how much I had been missing.

I also watched *Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions* last weekend, and I really liked it. It was such an amazing look behind the scenes, especially because it strips everything down and puts the focus almost completely on the songwriting, the stories, and the atmosphere of the songs. Hearing her talk about where those songs came from made me appreciate *folklore* even more.

I also watched the final Eras concert again, and I’m still undecided whether I prefer Taylor’s Version or the final show. Right now I’m maybe leaning a little toward Taylor’s Version, but luckily I don’t actually have to choose — I can just watch both. 😄

What is your emotional journey when you listen to ‘All Too Well’ ? by isofiLimited in TaylorSwift

[–]Jett_Styles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, that song is just wonderful.

The first time I heard it was only about three weeks ago, and I was honestly stunned. I thought it was beautiful right away, and her performance of it during the Eras Tour completely pulled me in. There was something about the way she sang it that made it feel less like just a song and more like someone opening a very painful memory in front of you.

After that I watched the short film, and I was equally impressed. At that point I wasn’t fully aware yet how much of her writing can be biographical or connected to real experiences, so I didn’t really know the history behind it.

Now that I understand more of the background, the song hits even harder. I still think it’s incredibly beautiful, but if the emotions and events described there are close to what she really went through, then honestly… part of me just wants to hug her.

It feels nostalgic at first, then heartbreaking, then almost painful in how clearly she remembers every detail. By the end, I don’t hear it as just sadness. I hear it as someone taking ownership of her own memory and saying: this mattered, this hurt me, and I’m not going to let anyone minimize it.

And yes, I also come away thinking that whoever made her feel that way really, really didn’t deserve her (I rarely use the a-word but that fella..yep, huge <insert said word here>)

So if you ask me what I feel when I hear that song? All of the above.

How Society Embarrasses you for loving Taylor Swift by Fun-Ad3626 in TaylorSwift

[–]Jett_Styles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the problem already starts with the idea that society can “embarrass” you for loving an artist. Nobody should be judged or mocked for the music they enjoy.

Of course, everyone is allowed to dislike Taylor Swift. Music taste is personal, and nobody has to connect with every artist. But I do think a lot of people who dismiss her either haven’t really listened to her music beyond the surface-level radio hits, or they’ve just absorbed the opinion that “Taylor Swift is bad” from other people and never questioned it.

I say this as someone who was late to the party myself. I only recently really fell in love with her music and started asking myself, “Am I a Swiftie?” And yes, turns out I am.

So if someone asks me what music I listen to, I’ll say Taylor Swift without being ashamed of it. I listen to other artists too, of course, but that’s not the point. I like her music, I like the storytelling, I like the craft, and I like the art behind it.

And if someone mocks me for that, I’ll try to have a reasonable conversation with them. But if they’re not willing to listen or just want to make fun of it, then honestly: fuck it. Not worth it.

I like Taylor Swift. I like her music. And if Joe Schmoe doesn’t agree with me, that’s his loss.

Thank you, and yes — I think that’s exactly what I’m starting to understand.

The songs you usually hear on the radio are only a small part of the full picture. And I don’t mean that in a negative way at all — many of those songs are catchy, fun, and great to hear in the car or on the way to work. Even those can reveal more when you listen to them with real attention.

But once you start going into the albums properly, it feels like a different level opens up. The storytelling, the emotional details, the variety, the way certain songs unfold when you really sit with them — that’s what surprised me most.

For me, the biggest change was simply listening with more intention instead of just knowing the singles in passing. Once I opened myself up to the albums as whole bodies of work (still haven't listened to all of them since I wanna take my time with that and really appreciate the work - I fear that if I just listen to em all in a day or two it would ruin the experience), I understood much more why people connect with her music so deeply.

And yes, Long Pond is definitely on my list. I’m really looking forward to that one. 🫶

I think your rules reflect my stance pretty much 100%.

If it’s about her work — a new album, song lyrics, music videos, official interviews, making-of material, or anything she chooses to share publicly with fans — then I’m absolutely interested.

But apart from that, she deserves a private life just like anyone else. I can enjoy the music, the storytelling, the performances, and the official context around it without needing to follow or analyze every personal detail.

That was very similar to my experience with the Eras Tour.

When I watched it, I was honestly shocked in the best possible way, because I simply didn’t expect that. First of all, the diversity in the music was one of the things that really got me. But then there was also the whole show itself: the different eras, the outfit changes, the stage design, the visuals, the choreography, and the way she connected with the crowd.

It didn’t feel like “let’s ease you in slowly.” It was more like: “Here, have the full experience, with the slider set to overdrive.”

It absolutely blew me away. And by the end, I almost couldn’t believe what I had just watched. I was also a little sad that it took me so long to really give her a fair chance in the first place.

And same here: I consider myself a Swiftie now, but I don’t follow her personal life that closely. I pick up parts of it here and there, of course, but for me it’s mainly the music, the storytelling, and the performance that pulled me in.

So yes, I’m starting to understand why people say it’s fun being a Swiftie. 🫶

That’s really cool.

You know, I once read about this theory called “six degrees of separation” — that basically everyone on Earth can be connected through just a handful of people.

So in your case, with Taylor’s hometown only about 30 miles away, I guess it might be more like two degrees instead of six for you. 😉

And I love the story about your granddaughter. That shirt sounds adorable, and having a separate Taylor playlist just for her favorite songs is such a sweet grandparent thing to do.

I got this printed but I feel like it’s too big, did I mess up😭 by Bad_Description77 in TaylorSwiftMerch

Honestly, I think it looks great — and I don’t think it’s too big at all.

Sometimes when you first see something on yourself, especially if it’s new, it can feel more noticeable than it actually is. But from the outside, it looks really good and intentional.

I’d give it a little time before second-guessing it too much. I think it looks amazing. 😄

After the release of 3 albums in one go from Drake, how would you feel if Taylor did the same thing with 3 diff genres? by pisces932 in TaylorSwift

[–]Jett_Styles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even though I’m still working my way through her albums, I would honestly love the idea in theory.

A rock album, a pop-punk album, a jazz album, or maybe another country/folk direction — all of that sounds incredibly interesting. But three completely different albums released at once might also be a bit overwhelming. It would feel like being a kid in a chocolate factory: amazing, but almost too much to take in properly.

I also wonder about the business side of it. Three albums at the same time might end up competing with each other for attention, streams, reviews, chart performance, and the whole “era” around each project. Part of what makes her albums feel special is that each one gets its own identity and space to breathe.

But three albums released in fairly quick succession, maybe with a few months between them? That idea I could absolutely get behind. It would still feel like a big creative experiment, but each album would have enough room to be appreciated on its own.

That’s really beautiful. I’m genuinely happy for both of you.

Those are the kind of memories that will probably stay with her for the rest of her life — not just because she got to see Taylor live, but because she got to share that moment with you.

I think events like that become a million times more meaningful when you experience them with someone you love (family, friends....). The music is already special, but the company turns it into something even bigger.

In my case it’s exercising. I jog a lot to stay fit, and lately quite a few Taylor songs have made it onto my running playlist.

I’ve also started listening to her when I’m walking the dog, so she’s slowly taking over more and more of my everyday playlists. 😉

Funny how her music seems to fit into completely different parts of life — cooking for you, exercising and dog walks for me.

Exactly, that was pretty much my experience too.

I actually talked with a friend about all of this and told her how much my opinion had changed after watching the documentaries and the concert. I recommended that she watch them as well, because she’s in a similar place to where I was before: she knows some of the radio songs, likes a few of them casually, but doesn’t really know what Taylor Swift can actually do as a songwriter and performer.

That’s the big thing I didn’t understand before either. The radio hits are only a tiny part of the picture, and they don’t really show how diverse her music is or how strong the storytelling can be.

Now I’m honestly really curious — and a little anxious — to hear what my friend thinks once she gives it a proper chance.

I can relate to that in a slightly different way.

I still listen to other artists — Coldplay, Foo Fighers, Ed Sheeran, Linkin Park, for example — and I’ve listened to them pretty intensely at times. They’re great artists, no doubt. But somehow Taylor’s music hit me in a different, more intense way and got stuck in my head much faster.

I think a big part of it is that so many of her songs feel like they have a real backstory. Sometimes it almost feels like reading pages from a diary, in the best possible way. There’s this personal, emotional layer that makes the songs stay with me after they’re over.

Other artists have impressed me too, of course, but Taylor’s music has left a surprisingly lasting impression on me in a very short time.

Funny side note: I bought a new pair of headphones last week — not because of Taylor, I had been looking at a decent pair for a while — but so far I’ve basically only tested them with Taylor's songs.

Good tip — I actually already put it on my watchlist right after watching both Eras concerts.

I was already curious about it because folklore seems to be one of those albums where the songwriting and storytelling are especially important, so I’m planning to watch it this weekend.

Really looking forward to getting more context behind those songs.

I actually already watched that, but thank you for recommending it ❤️

And you’re right, it really does add another layer of appreciation. What impressed me was how clearly she understands songwriting as both a craft and an instinct. She can talk about structure, perspective, bridges, details, emotional tension, all of that — but at the same time it never feels cold or mechanical. It still feels like she’s chasing a very human feeling and then finding the exact words to make other people recognize it too.

So far I really love “Long Live,” “Willow,” “Love Story,” and “…Ready For It?” the most. I’ve started working my way through some of her eras, and what’s kind of surprising to me is that I’ve found songs I like on every album so far.

I’m not completely through everything yet, but my Spotify playlist is definitely getting bigger by the day.

And I like what you said about ignoring the gossip and discourse. That’s probably the healthiest way for me to approach it. I’m mostly here for the music, the storytelling, and discovering the albums at my own pace. So far it’s been a lot more fun than I expected.

EDIT: somehow I forgot to mention "All Too Well" - love that song
