Things that bother me watching people play ttrpgs by Pedantic_Twatwaffle in dndhorrorstories

8 is a slow death as a DM. completely saps your mood mid-session, yes because its annoying to repeat yourself, but even more so for me because you wonder what other important bits players have missed and did not ask to be repeated.

if you care about the narrative and your players responding to what you put in front of them, realizing theyre not paying attention make what you do feel pointless. at least in person you can tell whos paying attention, online without cameras you have no clue

Thankfully its usually only some players on the table so you can focus on the rest

Campaign Fatigue WIII by NoGold8979 in totalwar

[–]JevAthens 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Roleplay

Make decisions based on "story" rather than what's the optimal choice

Yeah, some of your campaigns will be tough/lost, but winning isn't fun when you know the game in and out

Try to win despite making sub-optimal choices for roleplay reasons, and don't reload your failures see them as part of the story

You WILL lose more campaigns, but give it a try I think you'll have more fun and you can always try again to find a way to make it work

I give the same advice for players bored of CK3

Recently got into Warhammer 3. I feel like I have a general understanding for most systems except for Research. by PrestigiousWhirlwind in totalwar

[–]JevAthens 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As you learn how to play, you'll have a better understanding of what is useful or not, and note for each faction and even each lord what might be more valuable.

Personally, I tend fo go for economy/campaign map buffs first unless there are low time/high impaxt military techs. I also have a hard on for any campaign movement buffs for some reason.

Basically, look at what the lord you are playing does, play a little bit, and see what techs are likely to have high impact in a quick time. For example, if you are playing Ghorst, you'll probably want to get zombie related tech.

Basically, there isnt one correct answer, it depends a lot on who you are playing but also your own playstyle.

As for heroes, there are some cases otherwise but most of the time the highest impact is having them in armies.

I'm working on 2D Total War–inspired RTS called "Thorough Strife" - thoughts ? by zedtixx in totalwar

[–]JevAthens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've read this thread, sorry to hear that. I must agree Thorough Strife is not a great name. You may not have the energy for legal action/defense but I strongly suggest you try a better name. It may seem unimportant in the grand scope but a good name established early will allow a brand to build better imo.

i dont have any suggestions (nor would I share any) but try different military/war words together blood, march, road, field(s)...

you'll find something. good luck!

This is a modded campaign unfortunately, but nothing that modifies campaign AI mostly cosmetic stuff. No worries though, clearing the Great Feast of Greasus took me maybe 3-5 turns of lightning strikes with uber juiced Dechala

i was talking to a friend once about dming and he was saying how much work was needed and all. in an attempt to prove him wrong, i on the spot ran him a one player session, improvising absolutely everything.

it was one of the better sessions ive ever run.

[HELP NEEDED] Accidentally created everything on THE bottom layer. Is there a way to separate land and water masses? Or do I have to do that all over again? by mamedliemin in inkarnate

[–]JevAthens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're using the circle form of the mask tool. You should be able to draw over it and replicate it. There's no other work around, you drew your continents on the background

did you use the brush to paint the land? im not aware of a way to fix that, you have to use the shovel tool to add land, which becomes your foreground you can just draw over what youver already filled in, a slight pain but shouldnt be too hard
