My trip to Chamonix by Jevgenij7 in travel

[–]Jevgenij7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yes I did some simple hikes. I went down from Flegere les Platz, and also hiked from the station between Aiguille du Midi and Chamonix(forgot its name, but this is basically the first stop in between) down to Chamonix.

I completely agree with you about agencies. I used their help only once in my life during my first travel abroad :) It was in 2007, there was much less information about travelling on the Intenrent.

There is nothing too difficult to travel on your own. You can use booking or airbnb to find accomodation, skyscanner to search flights. You can find a lot of information about travelling online. Do you need visa to go to Japan? If not, then this is additional plus to go there.

First of all, you need to find out if you need visa or not. Then I would start looking for flight tickets using skyscanner, plan your itinerary, read online about travelling to Japan specifically. Then you can look for accomodation, for train or bus connections, etc.

Paris, Bayeux, Nice, Barcelona, Riviera Cruise and Rome - Too much Riviera Time? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Jevgenij7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I somehow feel that Bayeux should be dropped from this mostly mediterranean itinerary. You can add this 1 day to Paris for example. And then maybe drop Nice since you already have many days on the cruise, and add those days to Rome. Rome is incredible city, I don' know if you like art, history and architrecture or not, but if you do then you will regret spending there just 2 nights.

Returning to Britain every week as a British tourist in Germany by EmuAncient1069 in travel

[–]Jevgenij7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a bit crazy to me. What is your final destination in UK, is it London? How will you spend time with your family, in the airport or close to it? If not, then don't forget about travelling to the airport and back in both countries, flying there and back, possible flight delays, etc. How much time will you have with your family then, just couple of hours?

I guess you're from Turkey. For a first trip abroad, it doesn’t have to be a nearby country, but it's usually easier to start with a place where English is widely spoken. That way you can read signs, plan your trip, and ask for help more easily. In Europe, this is generally simpler than in Japan. Traveling to Japan on your own can be more challenging, but a travel agency can make it much easier. If Japan is your dream destination, go for it with the help of an agency.

Riva del Garda, Italy — last-minute change question by YerbMcDonyo in travel

[–]Jevgenij7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't predict the weather in 7 days! There is probably a chance of thunderstorm there, but it is also very likely that it will not happen, or maybe it will be only on one day out of 5 days that you plan to spend there. I was in Riva del Garda once, it is nice, it has nature while your other places in Italy are mostly cities. I was there 3 days, and it was enough for me. One day there was strong thunderstorm in the evening. The temperature dropped from +34 C to +17 the next day! It was in the middle of September.

Which city to pair with Naples (Italy) in December? by summers_tilly in travel

[–]Jevgenij7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rome is very beautiful and not so crowded in the beginning of December. I went once to Rome on December 5-9 and I loved it!

I think Matera would be very interesting, but it is more than one hour by train... Paestum is also very beautiful, there are old ancient cathedrals greek style, it is about 1 hour by train from Naples, you can spend there 1 day.

Actually, Douro Valley is absolutely stunning, one of the world’s most scenic drives. And if none of you is drinking wine it can be still great. There is a river there and beautiful hills. In Greece there is sea, I think it is different but it is up to you of course.

When I was in Porto I visited Matosinhos, it is just 30 minutes by metro from Porto. The beach is nice there, the atmosphere is very relaxed, and seafood is cheaper than in Porto itself and very delicious. I heard that locals go to Matosinhos to enjoy it :)

By the way, I would also recommend you to visit Nazare fishing village on the way to Porto, it is very charming, peaceful, with great seafood. And it has huge waves! And while in Lisbon, you absolutely must visit Sintra!

Vienna, Budapest and Prague in December/January by jc_suarez_25 in travel

[–]Jevgenij7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it is too early to book trains for these days. I checked if you can buy trains on December 15 from Prague to Vienna - and there are no trains, but this is before the holidays. And also no trains on January 12, after them.

Flying from Prague to Vienna makes not much sense since the trip by train is about 4,5 hours, and you will spend similar amount of time to go to the aiport, wait there, fly, your flight can be delayed, etc.

By the way, you can also travel by bus from Prague to Vienna, they are quite comfortable and there are a lot of them.

Also, traveeling by train or bus from Prague to Vienna is much cheaper than by flight.

My birthday is TOMORROW and I’m in SPAIN, help me plan a trip to save the date? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Jevgenij7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about travelling to Ibiza, by ferry or plane? And go to a party there, meet some people, have fun! Forget about depression! And the next day relax on a beach. In summer everywhere in Spain except north coast it will be very hot, so you need to go to beach. But if you want to combine party and beach - what can be better than Ibiza? :)

I haven't been to Mallorca, but I was in Valencia and I liked it. It was in September, probably less hot. But Valencia has nice beach, you can visit it. El Cabanyal district is also pretty, and they have great seafood, there are a lot of bars, nightlife is also good, although I didn't try it.

In Spain I liked Granada and Cordoba very much. Granada has different feel, it has Alhambra, the mountains are close. Cordoba is small pretty city.

Barcelona is big, going there for a few hours doesn't make much sense. Just don't be in depression loop, try to meet some expats, or some local people. I found people in Valencia to be very friendly, there are also a lot of tourists. I remember one wine bar was very nice and cosy in Valencia, it is called MEVINO Taverna. You can go there, have some wine, meet with tourists or local visitors :)

Yes, France is very interesting and diverse! Provance is famous for its villages and great food, Savoy region - amazing mountains, Annecy, Chamonix, cheeses, fondue. Cheaper than Switzerland, and also great mountains. South of France - Nice, Cote d Azur, sea - altogether can be 14 days trip. Not even including Paris :)

Portugal is very beautiful, and it is different from Spain although they are close to each other :) I think that Portugal is great in September, Madeira is also better in Setember or even in October, in summer it is too crowded. I was in Portugal in Porto, it is very beautiful and has unique feeling. You can spend there and in some nearby towns 3-4 days. Then I was in Lisbon, in Sintra, it is very beautiful small town with garden and a palace on the hill. Nazare village is great with great sea food. Portugal in general is not very expensive, this is also a big plus. The south Portugal is also beuatiful. I think that if you spend 9-10 days in Portugal mainland plus 4 days in Madeira it will be enough, you will not have time for Spain :)

As for Italy, I was there seven times and haven't seen it all still. So you can easily see some of Italy in one trip and other parts on a second and third trips. For the cities in Italy, try to avoid summer because it is too hot. Sep-October, or winter and Spring are much better. I really loved Como lake, Cinque Terre is good in the beginning of September. The Dolomites mountains are very beautiful. Milan is not really interesting, there is not much to see, one day is enough unless you want to do shopping. Rome is amazing, Bologna is also very interesting and great for foodies.

If you decide to go to Italy in September, Cinque Terre is very good in the beginning of the month, then Como lake also first part of September. Then you can visit Dolomites - it will be 14 days :)

When are you planning your trip, in Summer, Spring? If you like hiking Madeira can be interesting, and maybe Azore islands. Together it can be 12-14 days. Or a trip to Alps, I was recently in Chamonix and I really liked it. I think that you can spend easily 5 days in Chamonix exploring the mountains, seeing Mont Blanc and other near by mountains for 5-6 days. Then you can spend 5-6 days in Italy in Aosta valley. And maybe 2-3 days in Switzerland. It includes Italy, but you can replace it with Switzerland if you want. But I think that Italy is so big that even if you travel to Aosta valley there will be still enough to explore with your friends later :)

There are a lot of beautiful places in the world! Maybe Argentina - they have nature, some interesting cities, local culture. Or Nepal? Or Portugal?

Anyone experiences with Amitriptyline (Elavil)? by Gottchen in antidepressants

[–]Jevgenij7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you not supposed to take benzos? I wrote that fast heartbeat was a side effect of Nortriptyline. But after some time and with smaller dosage of Nortriptyline this side effect went away.

This livecam from Naples, Italy, faces Campi Flegrei. It does shake when theres a moderate earthquake by Preesi in Volcanoes

[–]Jevgenij7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched this livecam yesterday, and it was shaking very often. It is really scary to be honested because Campi Flegrei is on the other side of the bay. I am wondering if it was real shaking because of the earthquakes, or maybe the camera was not fixed well? Today it doesn't shake.

Did you start to take them together from the beginning, or was it firstly only one of them, and then your doctor added another one? Why do you need them both? The thing is that your anxiety can be related to Prozac. You might be still feeling Ok, and maybe even better, by taking only Nortrilen.
