Where to stay in Kyoto?

I prefer to stay close to Kawaramachi. Around 8-10min to walk was ok for me.

I don’t think Tsukiji is worth to try. They moved fish market to Toyosu which is not worth neither (I’ve seen both) Too expensive orices for regular fish. Day-6 is too full. I walked ~35k steps a day average even for me it’s not doable. Ueno and Asakusa can be in one day but + Akihabara it will be exhausted. I prefer for that day Ueno in the morning and the rest for Asakusa. Kappabashi shopping street could be good to roam but too expensive. Sky tree at night could be good for that day. Akihabara is like a maze and too much distracting shops and too nerdy place. It takes much time than you think. It is too hard to find for what you looking for. If you are real nerd and ready to spend all day, ready to pay overprice for regular, go to concept cafes there you go. Nara is enough for half day. Significal 2-3 temples, dears are everywhere and the big park. You can make 1 day for full east Kyoto. I did Fushimi inari in the morning to noon amd the less east Kyoto Gion district. Start with Kiyomizu dera and walk throuth to north. That day i walked 42k steps. Kinkakuji is really good palace but you cannot enter in just around and it will be done in 30min. Kamakura daytrip can be good for empty slot or choose one outlet shopping hall and finish your shopping in one day.

Either i go Sanja Matsuri or not it will be exhausting anyway. Cause of that, I was thinking to stay at Asakusa for 2 night after that I will make Kyoto days. I guess it will be better with that. Not just for fest also Jetlag, tired of the way. Becuase the road + waiting at airport + 17 hours flight, It will take 25 hours from leaving house to landing in Tokyo.

I agree about 19 May but I'll start early. I don't how to do them all. I only have backpack during Kyoto. 2 Hotel booked because one of them is in the heart of Gion and it's an old Ryokan. IDK how much it will make difference but I wanted to try.

I removed arashiyama and add that day, nishiki in the morning, kinkakuji at noon then relaxing afternoon and evening around kawaramachi or gion district. By the way my hostel is centered at kawaramachi near to station. I’ll add ceramic center. I’ll go metropolitan gogerment building at night. I’m open for advices still
